Class A North

Freehold Township 2, No. 2 Red Bank Catholic 0

Senior Dani Howard broke a scoreless tie off a pass from senior Gaby Parker in the 69th minute and junior Reese Metcalfe added an insurance goal five minutes later off an assist from Howard as the Patriots (2-4, 1-2) righted the ship in a major way by taking down the Caseys (4-2, 1-1).

Freehold Township, the back-to-back defending NJSIAA Group 4 champions, began the season 0-4 with losses to Rutgers Prep, Ramapo, Middletown South and Manasquan but have since defeated Brick and Red Bank Catholic by a combined 10-0. Senior goalkeeper Ashley Moore made five saves to post her second straight clean sheet.

Sophomore goalkeeper Heidi Wierman made seven saves for Red Bank Catholic.

 

No. 3 Howell 3, Manalapan 2

Sophomore forward Makenzie Memmolo delivered a hat trick as the Rebels (5-0, 3-0) roared back from a 2-0 deficit to sink the Braves (3-4, 0-2) in a key division game between district rivals.

Junior midfielder Daniella Butash put Manalapan ahead 2-0 in the 27th minute and the Braves held that lead through halftime. Memmolo got Howell on the board in the 54th minute off a pass from sophomore midfielder Elona Gerbeshi and then scored in the 58th minute and 73rd minute off passes from senior back Gabrielle Snowden to give the Rebels the lead.

Junior goalkeeper Leila Shaw made eight saves for Howell and sophomore keeper Aryanna Lake made seven saves for Manalapan.

 

Trinity Hall 3, No. 7 Manasquan 0

Sophomore Grace Greene scored a brace and junior goalkeeper Anna Martin made five saves to post her fourth shutout of the season and lead the Monarchs  (4-1, 1-0) past the newly-ranked Warriors (2-2-1, 1-1).

Senior Lily Wood scored once while juniors Ryan Raynor and Winnie Popham and freshman Kaylee Davis had one assist each.

Manasquan senior goalie Gia Restivo made 11 saves.

 

Class A Central

No. 1 Wall 3, No. 10 St. John Vianney 2

Senior Erynn Richey deposited a corner kick in the latter stages of the second half for the eventual game-winning goal as the Crimson Knights (4-1, 2-0) earned a bounce-back victory over the Lancers (4-1, 1-1).

Senior Madison Pieloch gave St. John Vianney a 1-0 lead through halftime before Wall tied it up in the second half on a goal by senior Samantha Brett. Sophomore Meg Farrell put the Knights up 2-1 before Richey’s goal made it 3-1. Pieloch scored her second of the game to pull the Lancers within a goal but Wall’s defense and junior keeper Madalyn Peterson closed the door the rest of the way.

Peterson finished with two saves while junior Grace Holobinko and sophomore Kelsey Hallock had one assist each.

 

Rumson-Fair Haven 2, Ocean 0

Senior midfielders Abrey Scoble and Stella Saad each tallied goals in the second half to propel the Bulldogs (4-1, 2-0) to a shutout victory over the Spartans (0-5, 0-3).

Junior goalkeeper Ella Curran made eight saves and senior midfielder Chloe Dengler added one assist for Rumson.

Junior keeper Grace Fuller made 12 saves for Ocean.

 

Marlboro 1, Red Bank 0

Senior Sarah Gold sank the game’s lone goal off a pass from freshman Mackenzie Klatsky and sophomore goalkeeper Jordyn Bauer made it stand up by making 10 saves to send the Mustangs (2-3, 1-1) to a tight victory over the Bucs (2-3, 1-2).

 

Class A South

No. 6 Point Boro 3, Toms River North 0

Senior midfielder Molly Heras, junior forward Lily Scalabrini and sophomore midfielder Lia Connelly each scored once as the undefeated Panthers (5-0, 3-0) scored once in the first half and twice in the second half to put away the Mariners (4-2, 1-1) for their fifth straight win to open the season.

Senior forward Abby Hannemann set up all three goals to give her eight assists this season, and senior goalkeeper Ava Bjorndahl made four saves to post her third consecutive shutout.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lena Salvaggione made 12 saves to lead Toms River North.

 

Central 2, No. 9 Toms River South 0

Sophomore midfielder Leah Dicillo delivered a brace with one goal in each half and freshman goalkeeper Addison Frulio made three saves to send the Golden Eagles (2-1-1, 1-1) past the previously unbeaten Indians (4-1, 1-1).

Senior forward Shelby Parks and junior forward Claudio Scarpitti added one assist each for Central.

Senior goalkeeper Hannah Puglisi made five saves.

 

Jackson Memorial 0, Brick Memorial 0

Brick Memorial senior goalkeeper Giselle Lizardi made 11 saves and Jackson junior Alex Berkely also made 11 saves as the Mustangs (2-3-1, 0-2-1) and the Jaguars (1-3-1, 0-1) played to a scoreless draw under the lights.

 

Class B North

Middletown North 3, Monmouth 1

Sophomore forward Sofia Chaknis broke a 1-1 tie in the 51st minute and sophomore keeper Natalie Morford made seven saves as the Lions surged past the Falcons in the second half to earn an important division victory.

Chaknis also scored in the 9th minute off a pass from sophomore Adva Cordomo to give Middletown North a 1-0 lead. Julianna Emerson tied the score for Monmouth in the 20th minute. After Chaknis’s go-ahead goal in the second half, freshman Maddie Kelly added an insurance goal off an assist from senior back Brooke Fishcer in the 60th minute.

 

Freehold 1, Matawan 0

Freshman midfielder Alison Esponoza’s second-half goal off a pass from sophomore Shea Patmore delivered the Colonials (1-5, 1-1) a one-goal victory over the Huskies (1-5, 0-2) for their first win of the season.

Senior goalie Kendall Livingston made six saves for Freehold while Matawan senior goalkeeper Alexa Scarpinato made 16 saves.

 

Shore 2, Holmdel 0

Junior forward Jenna Eichenbaum scored twice in the second half while seniors Sofia Merten and Hayden Neuhaus combined on a shutout to lead the Blue Devils (3-3, 2-0) to a victory over the Hornets (2-3, 2-1).

Mertens made seven saves and Neuhaus made six saves, while freshman back Teagan Waters added one assist.

Junior keeper Gabriella Samaan made five saves for Holmdel.

 

Class B Central

Raritan 7, Asbury Park 0

Senior midfielder Elizabeth Fogerty tallied two goals and one assist and junior Azure Kauffman also scored a brace to lead the Rockets (3-1, 2-0) past the Blue Bishops (0-2, 0-2).

Junior midfielder Morgan Rafferty added a goal and an assist and senior midfielder Isabelle Geoghan and junior back Gianna Manfredi each scored once. Senior back Ashley Fogerty and freshmen Carina Zorosy and Ava Facendo chipped in with one assist each.

 

Ranney 7, Long Branch 1

Class B South

No. 5 Lacey 4, Donovan Catholic 0

The Lions won their seventh straight game to begin the season and received goals from senior midfielder Mackenzie Brotherstron, senior back Kira Kownacki and senior forwards Natalie McGovern and Ava Forde to defeat the Griffins (1-2-1, 1-1).

Senior back Avery Johnson notched three assists, senior midfielder Reece Paget had one assist and junior goalkeeper Ava Schmidt made two saves to record her third shutout of the season. Lacey is now 7-0 and 2-0 in Class B South.

Senior keeper Lauren Kurzynowski made 19 saves for Donovan Catholic.

 

No. 8 Toms River East 6, New Egypt 0

Junior forward Keira Carney and junior back Addison Gallagher led the way with a goal and an assist each when the Raiders (6-0, 2-0) scored four times in the first half to blank the Warriors (0-6, 0-2) and continue their perfect start to the season.

Toms River East has won all six of its games via shutout and outscored opponents 20-0.

Senior back Grace Crowley and senior forward Isabella Alfonso also scored once while sophomore Kacey Briles and freshman Sophie Southworth scored her first career goals. Freshman goalkeeper Emma Mastriano made two saves to post her sixth straight shutout and freshman Ciley Francis and sophomore Elle Dworzanski added one assist each.

 

Point Beach 2, Manchester 1

Senior midfielder Gabby Kirchner scored off a pass from junior Ellie Loffreno in the 32nd minute and senior Sydney Zylinski scored off a setup from sophomore midfielder Katie Kirchner in the 36th minute as the Garnet Gulls (2-1, 1-1) grounded the Hawks (3-3, 0-2) to continue their strong start to the season.

Manchester was coming off a stunning 2-1 win over No. 1 Wall on Monday.

Senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Highland made nine saves for Point Beach.

Sophomore forward Madeline Nolan pulled Manchester within a goal off a pass from senior midfielder Emma Edwards in the 61st minute. Senior goalkeeper Kaia Buckley made 16 saves.

 

Class C South

Jackson Liberty 8, Lakewood 0

Senior midfielder Ali Zambor and senior forward Delaney Spalthoff each scored twice and junior back Samantha Kosek dished out four assists to power the Lions (2-2, 1-1) to a win over the Piners (0-5, 0-2).

Senior midfielder Breanna Casais and junior forward Yazmin Loza had a goal and an assist each, sophomore midfielder Makenna Perez scored once and sophomore back Julianna Glenn scored her first varsity goal.

 

Southern 6, Brick 0

Senior forward Brielle Simon and freshman midfielder Brinley Reynolds each recorded a hat trick to lead the way for the Rams (5-2, 1-0) in their victory over the Dragons (2-3, 1-0).

Simon also had an assist to give her a game-high seven points. Senior Kelly Quinn (1 save) and sophomore Jacklynn Donnelly (2 saves) combined to post a shutout. Junior midfielder Karlie Dunn, junior back Erynn McInerney, senior forward Lindsey Matthews and senior back Masin Maugeri added one assist each.

Sophomore Ava Markey made 15 saves for Brick.

 

Barnegat 4, Pinelands 2

Sophomore Jayla Duff delivered a hat trick to lead the Bengals (3-3, 2-0) to a victory over the Wildcats (1-5-1, 0-2).

Duff now has two hat tricks this season.

Junior Laila Turchi added one goal and one assist and sophomore goalkeeper Ella Tortorici made four saves. Junior Kylei Grant had an assist and freshman Isabella Lutcza recorded her first varsity point with an assist.

Seniors Sura Nuttall and Kaitlyn Siino each scored once for Pinelands.

 

 

Tuesday, Sept. 17

Class B Central

Neptune 8, Asbury Park 0

Adriana Siciliano and Sofia Raphelides each scored two goals and the Scarlet Fliers nailed down a shutout win over the Blue Bishops. Siciliano also assisted the first of Raphelides’s two goals and Rebecca Bolan added a goal and an assist.
