Shore Conference Girls Soccer Week 5 Games of the Week

We are in the final week of the regular season before the Shore Conference Tournament starts. There are still positions to be decided for the SCT and division battles to be settled this week. Games of the week are decided by rivalries, Shore Conference Tournament seeding and division titles.

Monday, Oct. 7

No. Lacey at No. Howell, 3 p.m.

A battle of Top 10 teams that will decide the top spot in SCT Group E. Lacey has one of the best offensive attacks in the Shore Conference and Howell has one of the best defensive lines in the Shore. The Rebels are going to be in a battle, they are missing a couple of key pieces of their back line due to injury.

Red Bank at Freehold, 4 p.m.

Another game that will decide a spot in the Shore Conference Tournament.  Both teams need a win to get into the SCT bracket and the losing team will play in the Shore Coaches Cup. Expect a close, low-scoring game as Red Bank has scored more than one goal in only one game, while Freehold has scored more than one goal in just two games.

Tuesday, Oct. 8

Southern at Barnegat, 3:45 p.m.

Both teams are undefeated in Class C South with 4-0 records. With the third-place team already having two defeats, the winner of this game will win the newly formed Class C South. Expect both goalies to see a lot of action with both teams having the ability to put the ball in the net this season.

Raritan at Ranney, 4 p.m.

In another game that can decide a division title, Raritan sits at 4-0 and Ranney is 3-0 in Class B Central. In the Rockets’ six victories, they only gave up goals in one of them, posting five shutouts. Ranney has posted four shutouts and only conceded one goal in their five victories.

No. 9 Rumson-Fair Haven at No. 1 Wall, 4 p.m.

These two teams have created one of the best rivalries in the Shore Conference over the last four years. They have squared off in three out of the last four Central Jersey Group 2 finals with Wall holding a one-game advantage. Wall will be looking for revenge after last year’s last-second defeat to Rumson in the regular season. Both teams are 4-0 in Class A Central with the winner clinching at least a share of the title.

Thursday, Oct. 10

Toms River East at Toms River North, 6 p.m.

A cross-town battle under the lights for bragging rights in Toms River. East was realigned into Class B South this season, but all three Toms River schools kept the rivalries going this year. Toms River South defeated East, 1-0, on Sept. 28. Both East and North have strong defenses led by their seniors, so expect a low-scoring game. The Raiders are led by Grace Crowley and the Mariners are led by Jordyn Brown.
