Shore Regional 8, Point Beach 5
A strong day at the plate helped Shore Regional (1-0) defeat Point Beach (0-2) for their first win of the season. The Blue Devils had 15 hits as a team including a 4 for 4 effort from Sophomore Peyton Waterman. Sophomore Mary Hennelly finished 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, Junior Olivia DeFonce finished 2 for 3 including a solo home run, and Senior Angela Christopher finished 2 for 3 with 2 walks. Junior Dylann Lawrence earned the win on the mound.
For the Garnet Gulls, Junior Mia Orozco was 2 for 3 with a home run and 3 RBI’s.
Toms River South 15, Freehold Boro 5
A 16 hit day helped Toms River South (2-0) run away from Freehold Boro (0-1) for their second win of the season. Junior Addison Tupper was 3 for 3 with a game-high 4 RBI’s while Junior Kylee Risk was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s and Senior Ally Manek finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Freshman Ella Fischer hit her first career home run while Freshman Mikayla Lindemann earned her first career win on the mound for the Indians.
Freehold Boro Freshman Maria Nicosia was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI’s in the loss for the Colonials.
No. 4 Marlboro 6, No. 9 Southern 2
A 3 for 4 performance from Junior Emily Gaudio helped Marlboro (1-0) win a marquee opening day matchup against Southern (0-1). Among Gaudio’s 3 hits included a home run, the second of her career. Seven other Mustangs recorded hits including Sophomore Isabella Wuelfing, Senior Adison Ditillo, Senior Aimee Notaro, Senior Sarah Huang, Sophomore Alyssa Abadiatokis, Sophomore Lily Fitzpatrick, and Sophomore Ashley Chen.
St. Rose 11, Brick Township 1
Friday, March 28th
Central 18, Lacey 1
Central’s bats came to life with 18 hits against Lacey. Faith Fischer went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the way at the plate for Central. Both Jaelynn Witte and Lena Banks added three hits and three RBIS for Central. Senior Isabella Flora, last year’s second baseman, struck out 7 batters in her first start as pitcher on the season.
No. 6 Point Boro 13, Manalapan 0
Senior Dakota Palmieri struck out 8 batters to earn a shutout in her first start of the season for the Panthers. Ashley Palmieri went 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and Tezra Kawczynski added three hits and 3 RBIs for Point Boro.
Barnegat 4, Trinity Hall 1
Sophomore Gianna Gomez was dominant in her first start of the season, striking out 18 batters and only allowing two hits to lead Barnegat to an opening day victory. Junior Jadeyn Bodziak hit a triple and scored a run and Brooke Rizzo had an RBI single for Barnegat. Sophomore Emma Mullins, who finished in the top ten in strikeouts last year, started the season with 10 strikeouts for Trinity Hall.
Red Bank Regional 17, Henry Hudson 7
Red Bank scored seven runs in the top of the 4th inning to build a 11-3 lead over Henry Hudson. Junior Brooke Gasperino connected on her first home run of the season for the Bucs. Hannah Smolinski and Lisabeth Vazquez-Denicis both added four hits and combined for 9 runs for RBR. Alex Belusko and Adriana Laborante both had three hits and combined for five RBIs for Henry Hudson.
Thursday, March 27th
Toms River South 13, Ocean 3
TRS scored all 13 runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to win their home opener. Abby Wilber, Addison Tupper and Charlotte Supino all had 3 RBIs in the game with Supino going 2-for-3 and Tupper hitting her first home run of the season. Cassandra Foley went 1-for-1 with a double and two RBIs for Ocean.
Henry Hudson 14, Neptune 9
Trailing 7-5 going into the top of the 5th inning, Henry Hudson scored three runs in the 5th, 6th and 7th innings to win their opening day game. Adriana Laborante had a RBI double and scored two runs and Alex Belusko drove in two runs for Henry Hudson. Neptune had three hitters with three hits each in the game. Gianna Massimino had two triples, a double and three RBIs to lead Neptune.
Holmdel 13, Toms River North 1
Tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 3rd inning, Holmdel scored 8 runs to win their home opener. Natalie Clifford went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Julia Henderson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Hornets. Henderson also struck out 7 batters to win her first game of the season.
St. Rose 12, Point Beach 8
Tied 3-3 going into extra innings, Point Beach responded to St. Rose’s four runs in the top of the 9th, but could not answer the Roses five runs in the top of the 10. Junior Emily Toresdal went 5-for-6 with a home run and four RBIs to lead St. Rose. Toresdal also struck out 18 batters to earn her first win of the season.
