Shore Sports Insider 2024 Girls Soccer All-Shore Team

With another season in the books, it is time to select the top performers from the 2024 Shore Conference girls soccer season. Every year it gets a little bit harder narrowing down each All-Shore team with the level of play improving throughout the Shore Conference. Every season, it seems the All-Shore teams are more spread-out throughout the schools in the conference instead of the same schools filling out the teams.

There are several factors that are considered when completing all postseason awards. The teams are selected by skill, impact on their team, impact in the games and stats.

All-Shore First Team

Goalkeeper

Kaia Buckley, Sr., Manchester

Buckley has been one of the most athletic goalies in the Shore Conference since becoming a starter as a freshman four years ago. She saved her best season for her last season, finishing with 160 saves and posting seven shutouts. Buckley had six games with double-digit saves, including 18 in an upset win over Wall, who was ranked No. 1 in the Shore Conference at the time. If you saw Buckley play this season, most she most likely put on a highlight-reel performance.

Defenders

Grace Crowley, Sr., Toms River East

2024 Stats: 4 goals

Crowley has been one of the Shore Conference’s best defenders since her freshman season for the Raiders. As the leader of the backline, she helped TRE post 12 shutouts this season and made freshman goalkeeper Emma Mastriano comfortable as a first-year starter. The Siena commit was also a weapon on the offensive end, scoring four goals this season. Crowley’s height made her dangerous on corner kicks in the box, which helped set the stage for the season with a header in the opening game against Manalapan.

Erynn Richey, Sr., Wall

2024 Stats: 6 goals, 13 assists

Richey not only was one of the Shore Conference’s best defenders this season, she is one of the most dangerous weapons on set pieces. One of the leaders on the backline, she helped communicate the defense with first-year starting goalkeeper Madalyn Peterson. On the offensive side, Richey’s ability to put the ball where she wanted on corner kicks allowed for her to score or set up her teammates. She also has a power leg, with range of up to 40 yards on free kicks.

Emma Christensen, Jr., Central

2024 Stats: 2 goals, 1 assist

Christensen is another defender who has been a force on the backline since her freshman year. Central had a lot of turnover from last season, but Christensen anchored the defense with new players around her. She helped Central post 11 shutouts with freshman goalkeeper Addison Fruilio. Her ability to shut down the opposing team’s threats was one of the reasons Central returned to the South Jersey Group 4 final for a second straight season.

Gabby Mellet, Sr., Point Boro

2024 Stats: 9 goals, 3 assists

Mellet is the third Ocean County defender to make the First Team in the Shore Conference. Mellet showed leadership all season on the backline to help the Panthers post 15 shutouts on the season. Mellet was also an offensive threat on corner kicks with her height advantage. She scored in four state playoff games, including the goal that ended up being the game-winner in the Group 2 championship game.

Midfielders

Abby Hanemann, Sr., Point Boro

2024 Stats: 8 goals, 2 assists

Hanemann was one of the best playmakers in New Jersey this season, topping the Shore leaderboard with 28 assists (second in the state). She made it difficult on defenders with her ability to mix up her speed and her footwork to get by defenders. The West Chester commit made her forwards’ jobs easier with her placement on crosses into the box. Hanemann ended her high school career with one goal and two assists in the Group 2 championship. Hanemann is one of the three finalists for Player of the Year.

Reece Paget, Sr., Lacey

2024 Stats: 18 goals, 14 assists

Paget was one of the most dominant midfielders in the Shore Conference this season, displaying the ability to control the midfield for Lacey and attack the opposing team’s defense. Paget, who is committed to play at Seton Hall next year, has the passing ability and soccer IQ to put the Lions in a good position to score. Her power allowed her to be a scoring threat from far out, which complemented footwork that enabled her to get in closer to goal.

Aubrey Scoble, Sr., Rumson

2024 Stats: 12 goals, 3 assists

A playmaker and a threat no matter where she is on the field, Scoble has one of the quickest shots in the Shore Conference, which makes it difficult for goalies to react. After scoring 14 goals in each of her first two seasons at Trinity Hall, Scoble made an impact right away once transferring to Rumson before he junior year. She scored 12 goals in both seasons for the Bulldogs while opening up the field for her teammates while opposing defenses keyed on her.

Danielle Howard, Sr., Freehold Township

2024 Stats: 7 goals, 11 assists

Howard became one of the Shore Conference’s best playmakers during her junior season and continued to help the Patriots control the midfield while also setting her teammates up during her senior season. Howard, who is committed to Bucknell, has the ability to put the ball on her teammates foot whether it is a pass on the ground or a long ball played in the air.

Forwards

Gaby Parker, Sr., Freehold Township

2024 Stats: 26 goals, 5 assists

Parker saved her best year for last, scoring 26 goals to set the all-time scoring record in Patriots history. Parker elevated her game to help Freehold Township replace the goal-scoring that graduated last season. The Bucknell commit stepped up when the games meant the most, scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory over Middletown South in the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinal round and scoring the game-winner in the SCT final to give the Patriots their third championship in four years. Parker is one of the finalists for Player of the Year.

Natalie McGovern, Sr., Lacey

2024 Stats: 26 goals, 16 assists

McGovern finished tied for second in the Shore Conference this season, reaching double-digits in all four years at Lacey. The Monmouth commit set career-highs in goals scored and assists to help Lacey become one of the strongest offenses in the Shore. McGovern, who was Freshman of the Year in 2021, is one of the three finalists for Player of the Year.

Bea Tinoco, Jr., Middletown South

2024 Stats: 20 goals, 6 assists

Tinoco reached the 20-goal mark for the second time in her career despite missing a handful of games right before the start of the Shore Conference Tournament. Tinoco currently sits at 59 career goals and most likely would have set the all-time scoring record at Middletown South, which is 63, held by Tara Froehlich (2001), if not for her injury.  The Rutgers commit returned from injury by scoring seven goals in two games, including two against Summit to reach the North Jersey Section 2 Group 3 final.

Mackenzie Brotherston, Sr., Lacey

2024 Stats: 15 goals, 12 assists

It is not often you see two forwards from the same school on the All-Shore First Team, but that is how good the Lions attack was this season. Brotherston finished with double-digit goals in her third straight season and reached double-digit assists for the first time in her career. One of her best performances came against Manalapan in the Shore Conference Tournament Quarterfinal round, when she scored a hat trick, capped by the game-winner during the second overtime.
