We’re back with the Week 2 NuVision Resolve Shore Conference Football Player of the Week poll where we post nominees for the Shore Conference offensive, defensive and special teams Players of the Week and give readers the chance to choose who should take home the award based on their performance in the previous week’s games.

Shore Sports Insider will also select offensive, defensive and special teams Players of the Week for each of the Shore Conference’s seven divisions.

Read through each player’s accomplishments for the week and cast your votes. This week’s poll will close on Wednesday at noon.

 

Update: Wednesday, Sept. 18: The polls are closed and the winners have been revealed. Congratulations to Manalapan’s offensive line, Manalapan defensive end Nick Leone and Southern Regional senior Keegen Foote on being voted Player of the Week in their respective phases.

OFFENSE

Rahmel Anderson, Sr., QB, Lakewood

Anderson is on a historic pace through three games after rushing for 325 yards and five touchdowns on 26 carries in a 40-13 win over Monmouth that improved the Piners’ record to 3-0 for the first time since 2016. Anderson is on a 10-game pace of 3,103 yards and 47 touchdowns.

 

Lucas Burgos, Jr., RB, New Egypt

Burgos erupted for a career-high 218 yards rushing and a touchdown on 21 carries as the Warriors improved to 2-0 with a 24-6 win over Asbury Park.

 

Noah Cancela, Sr., WR, Freehold Township

Cancela set career-highs with nine receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown when the Patriots won a 20-14 overtime thriller over Ocean.

 

Jack Cannon, Jr., QB, Holmdel

The No. 7 Hornets fell to No. 9 St. John Vianney, 33-19, but Cannon had another high-output game with 212 yards passing with one touchdown and one interception and 164 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 20 carries.

 

Jack Haviland, Jr., QB, Barnegat

Haviland completed 7 of 11 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns to help lead the Bengals to a 42-14 win over Jackson Liberty.

 

James Hirtes, Jr., QB, Brick

Hirtes ran for 90 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries, completed 5 of 5 passes for 32 yards and went 5-for-5 on extra points in the Dragons’ 35-7 win over Lacey.

 

Matt Jones, Sr., RB, Raritan

The Rockets fell to No. 10 Wall, 28-13, but Jones had a standout game with 104 yards rushing and a touchdown on 18 carries.

 

Jason Lajara, Jr., QB, Brick Memorial

Lajara was sensational in No.  5 Brick Memorial’s 34-14 win over No. 11 Howll with 362 yards of offense and five touchdowns. He completed 9 of 14 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.

 

Aidan Lunn, Sr., QB, Manchester

After missing a Week 1 loss to Southern with an injury, Lunn returned with authority by completing 13 of 17 passes for a career-high 290 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for the go-ahead touchdown with eight seconds left as the Hawks rallied in the final 41 seconds for a thrilling 30-26 win over Pinelands.

 

Manalapan’s Offensive Line

The Braves group of senior Reggie Bennett and junior Joe Petriello at guard, seniors Nick Monteleone and Brody Alfieri at tackle, senior Alex Osmun at center, and seniors Anthony Hammel, Dennis Healey and Nick Leone at tight end paved the way for Manalapan to rush for 271 yards and five touchdowns in a 35-7 win over No. 12 Manasquan.

 

Quinn Niesz, Sr., QB, Red Bank

Niesz threw two touchdown passes and ran for another to lead the Bucs to a 36-7 win over Freehold that improved their record to 2-1.

 

Jaimin Parkinson, Sr, RB, Pinelands

The Wildcats had a huge game on the ground with 389 yards rushing on a whopping 58 attempts in a 30-26 loss to Manchester and Parkinson led the way with 34 carries for 182 yards and two touchdowns.

 

Chris Raub, So., RB, Southern

Raub caught a pair of touchdown passes in the Rams’ 24-8 win over Southern to improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2021.

 

Dylan Reitmeyer, Sr., FB, Point Boro

Reitmeyer ran for 72 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries to help lead the No. 6 Panthers to a 30-14 come-from-behind victory over No. 4 Donovan Catholic. He also had a big game on defense with 16 tackles (10 solo).

 

Nick Ruggiero, Sr., RB, Central

Ruggiero ran for 101 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries to help lead the 3-0 Golden Eagles to a 28-7 win over Toms River East.

 

Franny Scaramellino, So., QB, Wall

The Crimson Knights sophomore quarterback continued his impressive start to the season by completing 10 of 13 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 28 yards and a touchdown to lead No. 10 Wall to a 28-13 win over Raritan.

 

Cam Stukes, Sr., RB, Neptune

Stukes ran for 100 yards on 12 carries and also returned an interception for a touchdown on defense to help lead the Scarlet Fliers to a 37-7 win over Keansburg.

 

Cam Thomas, Sr., WR/DB/PR, Toms River North

Thomas was electric in No. 1 Toms River North’s 54-10 wipeout of No. 8 Jackson Memorial by catching four passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns and returning a punt 50 yards for a touchdown. He also had a key tackle on defense when he chased down Jackson Memorial running back Jonah Glenn at the 4-yard line, saving a touchdown on a drive where the Mariners held the Jaguars to a field goal. He had a highlight-reel 51-yard touchdown reception that was featured on ESPN’s “You Got Mossed!” segment.

 

Nick Thomas, Sr., WR, Rumson-Fair Haven

Thomas caught six passes for 112 yards and a touchdown – all in the first half – when No. 2 Rumson defeated Marlboro, 35-6, in a Class A North game.

 

Adbul Turay, So., RB, St. John Vianney

Turay’s breakout season continued with a career-best performance in the No. 9 Lancers’ 33-19 win over No. 7 Holmdel. The standout back ran for a career-high 223 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries and caught three passes for 102 yards. He also had 11 tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss on defense, including a crucial stop on fourth down in the red zone.

 

Shane Volante, Sr., RB, Middletown North

Volante ran for 99 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries to supply the offense in the Lions’ 14-0 win over Matawan.

 

Frankie Williams, Sr., QB, Red Bank Catholic

The Caseys snapped their two-game losing streak with an emphatic 41-7 win over Long Branch and Williams led the way by completing 11 of 16 passes for 129 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 46 yards and a touchdown on six carries.

 

 

DEFENSE

Brayden Delavega, So., DB, St. John Vianney

Delavega pulled down an interception and also caught a touchdown pass to help the No. 9 Lancers to a 33-19 win over No. 7 Holmdel in a marquee Class C North game.

 

James Forsyth, Sr., DE, Red Bank Catholic

Forsyth recorded 7 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for loss and recovered a fumble when the No. 3 Caseys defeated Long Branch, 41-7, for their first win of the season.

 

Jarairya Jean, Jr., LB, Neptune

Jean had a monster game in Neptune’s 37-7 win over Keansburg with 12 total tackles, 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss and a safety.

 

Johnathan Kokotis, Jr., LB, Freehold Township

Kokotis was omnipresent in the Patriots’ 20-14 overtime victory over Ocean with a career-high 16 tackles (10 solo), three tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.

 

Nick Leone, Sr., DE, Manalapan

Leone had six tackles with two tackles for loss to help lead a balanced defensive effort that held down a potent Manasquan rushing attack in a 35-7 victory.

 

Brendan O’Brien, Sr., LB, Shore

O’Brien had seven tackles and an interception and also ran for 61 yards and two touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 34-0 shutout of Point Beach.

 

Colin Obser, Sr., LB, Point Boro

The No. 6 Panthers rallied in the second half for a 30-14 win over No. 4 Donovan Catholic and Obser played a major role with a team-high 18 tackles, including 12 solo stops, and a key fumble recovery that led to a touchdown.

 

Jamison Prince, Sr., DB, Barnegat

Prince intercepted a pass, broke up another and forced two fumbles when the Bengals defeated Jackson Liberty, 42-14.

 

Elijah Reeder, Jr., LB, Central

Reeder recorded a team-high four tackles for loss among his eight total stops to lead the defensive charge in Central’s 28-7 win over Toms River East to improve to 3-0.

 

T.J. Rey, Sr., CB, Middletown North

Rey had a team-high three tackles for loss when the Lions blanked Matawan, 14-0, to improve to 2-0.

 

Sean Savannah, Sr., LB, Brick

Savannah returned an interception for a touchdown when Brick defeated Lacey, 35-7.

 

Brendan Sliva, Sr., DB, Middletown South

Sliva recorded a team-high 12 tackles with one tackle for loss and also ran for 45 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the Eagles to a 21-0 shutout victory over Colts Neck.

 

Eddie Slosky, Sr., LB, Toms River North

Slosky was a wrecking ball in No. 1 Toms River North’s 54-10 win over No. 8 Jackson Memorial with two sacks, three tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

 

Trey Tallmadge, Jr., LB, Brick Memorial

Another repeat nominee, Tallmadge recorded seven tackles (6 solo) with two tackles for loss when No. 5 Brick Memorial held down No. 11 Howell in a 34-14 Class A South victory. The Rebels scored only one offensive touchdown (the other came on a pick-6) after scoring 42 points in Week 1.

 

Jacob Tobias, Sr., LB, Rumson-Fair Haven

Tobias earns a second straight nomination after making seven tackles with one tackle for loss and an interception in the No. 2 Bulldogs’ 35-6 win over Marlboro.

 

 

 

SPECIAL TEAMS

Kemar Archer, Jr., PR, Neptune

Archer returned a punt 51 yards for a touchdown when the Scarlet Fliers pulled away in the second half for a 37-7 win over Keansburg to improve to 2-1.

 

Anthony Dringus, So., K, Barnegat

Dringus had plenty of work and went a perfect 6-for-6 on extra points when the Bengals defeated Jackson Liberty, 42-14, for their second straight game scoring over 40 points.

 

Keegan Foote, Sr., K, Southern

Foote connected on a field goal, ran for a 2-point conversion and had an excellent day punting during the Rams’ 24-8 win over Toms River South.

 

Dennis Healy, Sr., LB, Manalapan

Healy blocked two punts, one of which led to a touchdown, in the Braves’ 35-7 win over No. 12 Manasquan. 

 

Carson Memmott, Sr., K, Rumson-Fair Haven

Memmott went 5-for-5 on extra points in the No. 2 Bulldogs’ 35-6 win over Marlboro.

 

Michael Nieves, Jr., K, Central

Nieves went 4-for-4 on extra points in the Golden Eagles’ 28-7 win over Toms River East.

 

Heath Reinhardt, Jr., K, Wall

Reinhardt went 4-for-4 on extra points and also caught a 28-yard touchdown pass in No. 10 Wall’s 28-13 win over Raritan.

 

Braden Rostek, Jr., Brick

Rostek recovered two fumbles on kickoffs to help the Dragons to a 35-7 win over Lacey.

 

Nick Spanola, So., KR, Point Boro

Spanola began Friday night’s 30-14 win over Donovan Catholic with a bang by returning the opening kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown. He had a great all-around game with 72 yards rushing on 15 carries and an interception on defense.
