Senior Riley Stolte buried a penalty kick midway through the second half for the lone goal of the game and the Bengals opened their season with a win on their home field over the Falcons.
Sophomore Vincent Santos drew the foul in the box running onto a pass from senior Aiden O’Halloran in the 58th minute, which set Stolte up for the winning penalty kick. Senior goalkeeper Donovan Paul saved 11 shots to secure the shutout.
Barnegat edges out Monmouth Regional for a 1-0 win in the season opener! Total Team Effort.

Toms River East 4, East Brunswick 3 (OT)
Junior Ayden Salazar scored the golden goal in the 82nd minute off a feed from senior Aiden Corapi and the Raiders pulled out an overtime road win over the Bears to open their season.
Toms River East erupted for three goals in the first half, with Salazar assisting the first of two by fellow junior Evan Capetta, whose first goal came in the 20th minute. Corapi scored off an Aiden Reis pass in the 27th minute and Capetta notched his second goal in the 35th.

Colin McKenna scored off a feed from Cristian Anfibio in the 72nd minute and the Kardinals clipped the Mariners with a late-game goal in the season-opener for both perennial Group IV contenders.

Sophomore Joe Guastella scored the second-half equalizer and assisted another goal by junior Shane Landau to lead the Colts to a quality draw over a La Salle team of Rhode Island that handled CBA, 4-0, in last year’s season-opener.

Will Dreschler staked CBA to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the first half, but La Salle of Pa. rallied for a second-half equalizer as the Colts settled for a second draw in two games in the La Salle series.
