Lacey 4, Howell 3 (OT)
Senior Tanner Grozinski put up a hat trick, including the golden goal in the 97th minute to deliver the Lions a come-from-behind win over the Rebels.
Lacey tied the game with under two minutes to go, with Grozinski drawing a take-down in the box to set up classmate Aiden Schmitt for the game-tying penalty kick. After 16 minutes of scoreless extra time, Schmitt found Grozinski with a through-ball that Grozinski tracked down and finished.
Grozinski opened the scoring with a 25-yard direct kick in the 21st minute and made it 2-0 in the 44th by finishing off the first of Schmitt’s two assists.
Howell rallied with three unanswered goals between minutes 51 and 66. Sophomore Juan Maria drilled a direct kick to pull Howell within 2-1 in the 51st and senior Andrew Tabora-Hernandez connected on a game-tying penalty kick in the 60th minute. Maria then struck again with the go-ahead goal in the 66th off a corner kick.
Red Bank 4, Neptune 1
Senior Alex Salvo scored a first-half hat trick, then added a fourth goal in the second half to carry the scoring in a Bucs victory over the Scarlet Fliers.
Group 2
Brick 3, Monmouth 1
Senior Carl Loffredo scored the first goal of the game and added an insurance goal in the second half to lead the Green Dragons to a win over the Falcons.
Sophomore Jacob Walters extended Brick’s lead to 2-0 by scoring off a pass from senior Gabe Walters. Monmouth countered with a goal by sophomore Hunter Oksen off a pass from senior Luca Tvrdik.
No. 1 Colts Neck 2, Freehold Twp. 1 (OT)
Junior Sean Moore scored the golden goal in the fifth minute of overtime and the Cougars came back to beat the Patriots and remain unbeaten in a key group-stage showdown.
With his game-winning goal, Moore become Colts Neck’s all-time record-holder in goals, passing his older brother, Kyle, with the 56th of his career.
Freehold Township grabbed the game’s first lead in the 65th minute when senior Gabe Bormolini buried a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box after Colts Neck goalkeeper Liam Collura was called for a hand-ball just outside the box on a save.
The Patriots got within four minutes of pulling out the victory, but Moore drew a foul outside the box and senior Ben Kazani stepped up a curled the game-winning shot into the inside of the side netting.
Freehold Township goalkeeper Giuseppe Romano saved a breakaway attempt by Moore in the first two minutes of overtime but just two-plus minutes later, senior Jonah Chiang played the ball through to Moore, who finished off the game-winner and the record-breaker.
Group 3
No. 2 CBA 6, Manchester 0
Sophomore Joe Guastella scored two goals and the Colts coasted to a shutout win over the Hawks. Senior Alec Notaro added a goal and an assist, with senior Nick Silva, junior Shane Landau and senior Jack Urbanski each contributing a goal for CBA.
Barnegat 2, Matawan 0
Senior Ethan Yllanes scored a goal in each half and the Bengals delivered a shutout win over the Huskies, with senior goalkeeper Donovan Paul collecting the clean sheet with seven saves.
Sophomore Oscar Jaimes-Villa set up the first goal by Yllanes with a pass into the box in the sixth minute. In the 51st, junior Jacob Yudman found Yllanes on the right side of the box and Yllanes ripped a shot off a Matawan defender and in.
Group 4
Donovan Catholic 4, St. Rose 1
Senior Max Durrazzo scored two goals and assisted another, while classmate Charlie Yuro contributed one goal and two assists to lead a convincing Griffins win over the Purple Roses.
Junior Nick Leone scored the other St. Rose goal, with senior Owen Moran accounting for the St. Rose goal.
Central 2, Middletown North 1
Senior Landon Kavanagh tied the game with a penalty kick midway through the second half and gave the Golden Eagles the lead for good with a goal in the 65th as Central came back to top the Lions.
Senior Ilyas Ciltepe assisted the game-winner by Kavanagh, whose tying penalty kick came as the result of a take-down in the box. Senior Paul Que gave Middletown North a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute off a cross from senior Cam DelGrosso.
Group 5
Holmdel 2, No. 10 Ocean 1
Seniors Connor Paul and Dom Poli each scored a goal in the first half and the Hornets hung on to beat the Spartans and gain the inside track toward winning Group 5.
Paul knocked in a corner kick by fellow senior Luke Farrugia in the 20th minute and Poli doubled the Holmdel lead by finishing a pass from junior Kyle Silberman in the 34th. Ocean cut its deficit in half on a free kick by junior Connor Shaw.
Ranney 6, Raritan 0
Senior Eddie Magherini scored the first two goals of his hat trick in the first 13 minutes and the Panthers routed the Rockets to pick up a pivotal three points in Group 5.
Junior Juan Torres assisted the second goal by Magherini, then scored off a pass from Magherini to make the score 3-0. Sophomore Braden Morin then scored twice within a three-minute span to make it a 5-0 Ranney lead by the 23rd minute.
Magherini completed his hat trick midway through the second half, with senior Tyler Yang picking up his third assist of the game on the goal.
Group 6
No. 4 Manasquan 3, Point Boro 2
Senior Cruz Farkas scored two goals in the final eight minutes to cap a second-half surge that carried the Warriors to a come-from-behind win over the Panthers, extending their season-opening winning streak to five games.
Junior Luke Byrne scored the game-tying goal for Manasquan early in the second half, which Point Boro answered with a go-ahead goal by senior Joe Doles in the 54th minute. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal by Jake Greene.
Freehold Boro 3, Lakewood 1
Senior Kristian Jaku drilled a shot from the top of the 18-yard box for the game-winning goal in the 74th minute and the Colonials pulled out a win over the Piners.
Senior Ryan Dominguez opened the scoring in the 37th minute after taking a pass from junior Humberto Hernandez. Senior Joe Haney capped the scoring in the 76th, when he dribbled through the defense and buried the shot for a 3-1 Freehold Boro lead.
Group 7
Toms River South 1, Asbury Park 0 (OT)
Senior Jacob Myers scored the golden goal in the 88th minute off a throw-in by classmate Owen Benicuk and the Indians pulled out a win over the Blue Bishops in a shutout performance by freshman Owen Starr and a stout defensive back line.
St. John Vianney 2, Toms River North 1
Senior Alex Siniscalchi assisted the opening goal of the match and scored the game-winner in the 72nd in leading the Lancers to a road win over the Mariners.
Siniscalchi served up a corner kick that senior Luke Noble headed in for a 1-0 SJV lead in the 7th minute. Toms River North pulled even early in the second half on an equalizer by senior Brady Gillman.
Siniscalchi then broke the tie in the 72nd by nailing a free kick.
Group 8
No. 6 Long Branch 4, Brick Memorial 2
Senior Brandon Mendoza scored the first two goals of Long Branch’s four unanswered goals in the second half and assisted the third as the Green Wave broke through over the final 40 minutes to beat the Mustangs.
Mendoza broke free for the equalizer in the 45th minute, then gave Long Branch the lead three minutes later when he tracked down a pass from junior Matheus Lopez, cut back toward the middle of the field and buried a left-footed strike for a 2-1 Green Wave advantage.
In the 75th minute, Mendoza found senior Marvin Oyuela with a through-ball that set Oyuela up for the finish and a 3-1 lead. Junior Dylan Rodriguez capped the Long Branch scoring in the 78th after a turnover in the Brick Memorial defensive third.
Brick Memorial jumped on top, 1-0, in the 19th minute when senior Sebastian Millan stole the ball in the Long Branch third of the field and lunched a 30-yard shot into the goal with Long Branch goalkeeper Gerardo Rodas off his line.
Junior Nick Stryker fought his way for a goal with 25 seconds left to snap the four-goal run by Long Branch.
Wall 3, Pinelands 0
Senior Brendan Grober broke through with the game’s first goal in the 20th minute off a set-up from fellow senior defender Paul Fury and the Crimson Knights tacked on two second-half goals to wrap up a win over the Wildcats.
Senior Evan Ker extended the lead to 3-0 in the 46th minute off a pass from senior Tanner Griffin and senior Rudra Patel capped the scoring with a goal in the 78th minute.
Southern 7, Red Bank Catholic 0
Senior Nick Leiriao exploded for five goals and classmate Brody Nacarlo assisted four after scoring the opener as the Rams rolled to a one-sided win over the Caseys. Freshman Michael King also scored off a pass from classmate Niko Sanchez to round out the scoring.

No. 3 Manalapan 11, New Egypt 0
Senior Ethan Lustig and sophomore Luke Ottenheimer each scored two goals and Lustig added an assist to highlight a Braves rout of the Warriors.
Senior Edoardo Russo, junior Evan Gluzman and sophomore Maxim Kazanovich each finished with a goal and an assist. Senior Dan Altman, senior Ethan Rosenfeld and senior Josh Davora also scored a goal apiece for Manalapan.
No. 8 Rumson-Fair Haven 2, No. 9 Shore 1
Senior Alex Calabretta unleashed a tie-breaking, 30-yard strike in the 61st minute and the Bulldogs rode his first career varsity goal to a win over the rival Blue Devils.
Senior Patrick Huber headed in the equalizer in the 52nd minute off a throw-in by senior Zach Halpern. Shore grabbed the 1-0 lead just four minutes earlier on a goal by junior Michael Ilvento off a pass from senior Declan Drucker.

Senior Anthony Castellano headed in a pass from classmate Tristan Nikitin in the 26th minute and the Jaguars grabbed a win over the Knights.
Keyport 5, Central Jersey Prep Charter 3
Senior John Covert scored two goals and assisted two others to lead a win for the Red Raiders over Central Jersey Prep. Junior Eliel Tlapa and freshman Brayden Vissagio each added a goal and an assist apiece, with senior Colin Woodruff also contributing a goal.
