Class A North

No. 3 Manalapan 0, No. 8 Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Rumson senior goalkeeper Jack Del Priore delivered eight saves and the Bulldogs (3-2-2, 1-2-1) defense held Manalapan’s dangerous attack without a goal for 100 minutes to secure a result against the No. 3 team in the SSI Top 10.

Manalapan (3-1-2, 1-1-1) owned a 13-6 advantage in shots, with Braves junior Chase Lee picking up the shutout with two saves.

The scoreless draw is the second this season for Rumson and both came against teams ranked in the SSI Top 10. The Bulldogs battled Long Branch to a 0-0 tie on Sept. 6.

Class A Central

Wall 6, St. John Vianney 3

Senior Evan Ker scored three unanswered goals during a 25-minute stretch and the Crimson Knights (3-2, 1-1) shook off a rough start to run away with a win over the Lancers (2-3-2, 0-2-1).

St. John Vianney jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two goals in a span of under a minute — both assisted by senior Mason Boles. Senior Cyril Azer opened the scoring 6:10 into the match and 33 seconds later, Boles found sophomore Greg Azer for the finish and a 2-0 Lancers lead.

Ker cut the Wall deficit in half in the 25th minute off a pass from senior Tanner Griffin and tied the game off a feed from freshman Oliver Rhoades less than two minutes into the second half. Ker completed his hat trick with the go-ahead goal in the 53rd minute off a find from junior Nick Herrera.

Wall made it four straight goals on a finish by senior Christian Garduza in the 55th minute, which SJV answered with a goal by Cyril Azer in the 60th off a third assist by Boles.

Sophomore Chris Knight answered two minutes later with a goal off a pass from senior Paul Fury and senior Matt Appel capped the scoring only a minute later.

Non-Division

Ranney 3, Red Bank 1

Senior Eddie Magherini scored a goal in each half and assisted one by classmate Tylor Yang as the Panthers (5-1) won their fifth straight and secured a revenge win over the Bucs (3-5-1) after Red Bank beat Ranney for the Class B Central division championship a year ago.

Senior Alex Salvo scored midway through the second half to get Red Bank on the board.
