NJSIAA Tournament
Sectional Semifinals
Central Jersey Group IV
(9) North Brunswick 2, (5) Marlboro 1 (North Brunswick advances on penalty kicks, 4-3)
Senior Vinny Pollifrone scored the game-tying goal in the 62nd minute and helped lead a flurry of chances during the first four minutes of overtime, but the Raiders (13-9) held off the Mustangs (9-8-4) charge and prevailed on penalty kicks to earn a spot in the sectional final for the first time since 2008.
North Brunswick goalkeeper Alexander Andino made the only save of the shootout after making seven saves during the 100 minutes prior. Marlboro goalkeeper Kosta Mastrokalos matched Andino with seven saves, which included a diving save on a breakaway shot by Chris Licona early in the second half.
Licona gave North Brunswick a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when he picked off an attempted pass back to Mastrokalos, drove the ball toward the right post and slammed in a finish.
Marlboro owned a significant advantage in possession in the first half, but North Brunswick made the most of its trips into Marlboro’s end by unleashing 11 total shots and eight on frame. The Mustangs finally broke through with exactly 18 minutes left, when Pollifrone dribbled up the left side, powered past a defender in the box and slipped a shot past Andino after the Raiders keeper made an ill-fated charge at the ball.

South Jersey Non-Public A
(2) CBA 2, (3) St. Augustine 1 (OT)
Senior James Brady scored the golden goal 12 seconds into overtime and the Colts (16-2-4) beat the Hermits (18-3-1) in dramatic fashion to reach the sectional championship game Thursday at top-seeded Pingry.
At the opening whistle of extra time, senior Finn McCarthy sent the ball toward the right side of the 18-yard box and Brady tracked it down as the St. Augustine defense struggled to communicate its assignments. Brady surveyed the box and decided to curl a left-footed shot, which he bent off the far left post and into the goal for the game-winner.

CBA took the first lead of the game with a penalty kick by senior Will Drechsler in the 28th minute. Senior Charlie Messano sent the ball into the box and junior Justin Arias gathered it off a flick before coaxing a defender into a trip in the box. Facing a goalkeeper in Matt Carr who saved three penalty kicks in Thursday’s shootout vs. St. John Vianney, Drechsler drilled his penalty attempt down the middle to beat Carr and give CBA a 1-0 lead.

The Colts created two quality chances to extend the lead in the first 12 minute of the second half but could not add the insurance goal. Messano headed a cross from Arias off the crossbar in the 48th minute and a goal by junior Shane Landau was waved off because the ball was ruled to be over the end-line before sophomore Joe Guastella volleyed it out of the air on a back-post cross by Arias and set up a wide-open shot for Landau in front of the goal.
CBA owned a 5-0 advantage in shots after the first 54 minutes, but St. Augustine built up an attack that created five shots in less than eight minutes, the last of which netted the equalizer. CBA goalkeeper Brady Lepore saved an initial strike from beyond the 18-yard box, but John Lamanteer pounced on the rebound and followed with a shot that slipped inside the far left post and into the inner side netting of the goal for the game-tying score.
South Jersey Non-Public B
(1) Ranney 6, (13) Bishop Eustace 0
Senior Eddie Magherini recorded a hat trick and assisted two goals in classmate Tylor Yang’s hat trick as well as the Panthers (13-6-1) routed the Crusaders (4-16) to reach the sectional final for the second time in program history and first since 2021.
Sophomore Braedin Morin also added a pair of assists, both of which set up Magherini for goals.
