The Week 10 recipient of the 2025 OIB Ortho Team of the Week is Wall, following the Crimson Knights’ hard-fought 17-13 victory over Rumson-Fair Haven.
Wall Football Stuns Rumson-Fair Haven to Reach Central Jersey Group 2 Final
WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ — Redemption was the theme Friday night as the Wall Crimson Knights football team turned the tables on Rumson-Fair Haven in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 2 semifinals. After falling to the Bulldogs by 24 points in last year’s sectional final, Wall powered to a 17-13 victory that ended Rumson’s Shore Conference-record streak of 11 straight sectional final appearances.
The Crimson Knights (8-2) showcased grit and dominance in the trenches on both sides of the ball, highlighted by a 22-play, 12-minute drive in the second half that drained the clock and defined their physical style.
Rumson (7-3), the defending NJSIAA Group 2 state champion, had advanced to three straight group finals and entered Friday as the perennial Shore Conference powerhouse. But Wall’s balanced attack and relentless defense flipped the script, sealing a statement win that marked one of the biggest upsets of the Shore Conference football postseason.
Now riding an eight-game winning streak, Wall advances to face top-seeded Camden in the Central Jersey Group 2 championship game. The Knights will look to capture their first sectional title since 2019 and the sixth in school history.
For a team that had been waiting nearly a year for redemption, Friday night was more than a win — it was a reminder that Wall football is back among the Shore Conference elite.
On Tuesday, SSI visited practice to present Walls Head Coach Ed Gurrieri and the team with a commemorative game ball and a $500 Joe Leone’s Italian Specialties Gift Card, courtesy of our partners at Joe Leone’s, for a well-earned pasta party celebration.
