Class A South

No. 10 Central 50, Barnegat 38

Sophomore Jaxen Carter scored 13 points and senior Derek Roth pitched in 12 points, seven assists and seven steals to power the Golden Eagles (10-5, 4-1) to a home win over the Bengals (6-8, 0-5).

Junior Tyler Woermer added nine points and junior Cijier Yates contributed seven points and three assists for Central. Freshman Chancellor Joseph led Barnegat with a game-high 18 points.

Jackson 64, Southern 40

Senior George Boley scored 12 of his game-high 23 points in the third quarter and the Jaguars (10-4, 4-1) broke open a tight game over the final 12 minutes to bury the Rams (8-6, 3-2) in a game with first-place implications in Class A South.

Boley also dished out three assists for Jackson, which closed the third on a 12-3 run to turn a five-point lead into a 42-28 advantage heading to the fourth quarter. Senior Jimmy Pappalardo and sophomore Mi’Aire Anderson each added 12 points and seven rebounds for Jackson.

Sophomore Noah Perna scored 12 points and senior Jake Sliwinski threw in 11 to lead Southern.

 

Class B South

Brick Memorial 49, No. 7 Point Beach 45

Senior Sean Collins scored 14 points to go with 12 rebounds and the Mustangs (10-7, 3-3) outscored the Garnet Gulls (13-3, 5-1), 7-0, over the final 4:25 to hand Point Beach its first divisional loss of the season and snap the Gulls’ nine-game winning streak.

Senior Nyzier Matthews added 11 points and seven rebounds for Brick Memorial, which tied the game on a three-pointer out of the corner by sophomore Jevin Mack with 2:30 left. Junior Casey Pierce finished a feed from Collins to give the Mustangs the lead, 47-45, with 1:38 left and Collins scored on a putback with under 30 seconds to go, stretching the Brick Memorial lead to 49-45.

 

Toms River East 37, Toms River South 35

Sophomore Tommy Intintola posted 14 points and 11 rebounds and classmate Brady Gillen knocked down the go-ahead three-pointer as the Raiders (7-7, 3-3) pulled out the victory over the Indians (8-8, 1-5).

Sophomore Carson Frazier hit a free-throw to stretch the lead to two and Gillen stole the ball on Toms River South’s final possession to seal the victory. Senior Shane Gambarony led Toms River South with 13 points.

Junior George Breckenridge scored 11 of his 16 points in the first half to lead Point Beach and senior Elijah Ives chipped in 11 points in the loss.

 

Class C South

New Egypt 66, Lakewood 34

Senior Nolan Arnold scored a game-high 20 points and the Warriors (8-7, 5-2) coasted to a win over the Piners (1-12, 0-6). Senior Cameron Cassandra added 12 points and classmate Ryan Reynolds chipped in eight for New Egypt.

Senior Cris Rosario scored nine points and sophomore Abel Martinez netted eight to lead Lakewood.

 

Non-Division

No. 5 Howell 63, Monmouth 55

Junior Jayson Parker led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points and the Rebels (11-3) fended off a challenge from the Falcons (9-5) to earn a bounceback win following Thursday’s loss to Wall.

Senior Cayden Parker and junior Noah Musto each added 11 points and senior Jack Quinn netted eight points for Howell, which led by 10 points heading into the fourth quarter before a 7-0 Monmouth run cut Howell’s lead to 51-48.

Junior Logan Conrade scored 17 points and senior Michael Griffin tossed in 10 for Monmouth, which could not get Howell’s lead lower than three in the fourth.

No. 9 Freehold Twp. 59, Freehold Boro 37

Junior Jake Schultzel scored a game-high 22 points to carry the offense and the Patriots (9-6) upended the rival Colonials (6-9). Junior John O’Neill chipped in nine points for Freehold Township, which outscored Freehold Boro, 20-6, in the first quarter and never looked back.

Junior Franco Castronovo led Freehold Boro with 11 points.

 

Non-Conference

Metuchen 54, Keyport 24

Senior Kai Arrington scored 16 points, but the Red Raiders (7-8) could only muster eight points beyond those 16 in a loss to the Bulldogs (13-2), who were led by 17 points from Colin Gawronski.
