Junior Jadayah Bowles registered a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Green Wave (7-14) to their second consecutive victory over the Wildcats in the last three days (5-18). Freshman Caylin Jones-Morais added a career-high 13 points. Junior Layla Bland stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, nine rebounds, seven steals, and five rebounds. Junior Nevaeh Wheeler added eight points and six steals.
Sophomore Rory Krier scored a team-high 10 points in the loss. Sophomore Ava Plant chipped in five points.
Long Branch will travel to top-seeded Freehold Boro on Friday night. The two teams met earlier this season with Freehold Boro coming away with a 40-27 victory.
Second Round
(6) Toms River North 64, (11) Ranney 61
Sophomore forward Adrianna Lamicella recorded a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds in addition to seven assists and three blocks to lead the Mariners (9-12) past the Panthers (3-16). Senior guard Cara Sarluca poured in 19 points and grabbed five rebounds. Freshman guard Montanna Knoeller added 15 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
Sophomore guard Savannah Jackson went off for a game-high 21 points in the loss. Sophomore guard Kayla Matos finished with 15 points. Sophomore guard Lucy Eibeler added 11 points.
Toms River North will await the winner of (3) Manalapan and (14) Monmouth in the quarterfinals.
Non-Conference
Middletown North 54, Perth Amboy 39
Junior guard Kaelyn Gibson poured in a team-high 16 points to lead the Lions (7-13) past the Panthers (10-9). Senior Danielle Gonzalez finished with 13 points. Sophomore Cali Unkel added nine points.
Senior guard Izabella Pardo racked up a game-high 25 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
