(12) Keansburg 69, (21) Lakewood 57
Sophomore Taurian Black and senior I’Shon Young combined for 36 points and senior A’Son Young fell one point shy of his fourth triple-double of the season while leading the Titans (13-8) to a win over the Piners (2-17) that sends Keansburg to the Coaches Cup round of 16 Friday at No. 5 Manalapan.
Black led Keansburg with 19 points, four assists and seven steals, while I’Shon Young poured in 17 points. Young, meanwhile, posted nine points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Sophomore Daizhan Jones also threw in nine points for Keansburg.
Senior Cris Rosario scored a game-high 20 points to lead Lakewood, while junior Anderson Vargas added 12, sophomore Abel Martinez netted 10 and sophomore Carlito Anderson chipped in nine in the loss.
(13) Neptune 66, (20) Lacey 33
Junior Jeremiah McCleave scored a game-high 19 points and the Scarlet Fliers (7-13) cruised to a first-round win over the Lions (3-18) to set up a round-of-16 date at No. 4 Toms River North on Friday.
Senior C.J. Evans poured in 17 points and senior Jordan Pierre chipped in 15 for Neptune. Senior Ronny Cuevas led Lacey with 13 points.
(15) Raritan 59, (18) Long Branch 56
Senior Ian Mullan starred on both ends of the floor with 20 points, three steals and two blocked shots to lead the Rockets (10-11) past the Green Wave (4-18) and into the Coaches Cup round of 16 Friday at No. 2 Toms River East.
Sophomore Mario Diamantis added 13 points on three three-pointers and junior Brennan Spengler chipped in nine points and four assists for Raritan, which outscored Long Branch, 20-13, in the fourth quarter to pull ahead.
(14) Freehold Boro 85, (19) Manchester 45
Senior Mike Cush led five Freehold Boro players in double-figure scoring with 23 points and also picked off six steals while leading the Colonials (7-16) to a one-sided win over the Hawks (5-16), which snapped a nine-game losing streak for Freehold Boro.
Freehold advances to the Coaches Cup round of 16 to face No. 3 Red Bank and coach Ben DiBiase, who guided Freehold Boro to the NJSIAA Group III championship game two seasons ago and to a Shore Conference Class B North division championship last season before taking the head job at Red Bank ahead of the current season.
Seniors Max Girandola and Damier Lester each added 13 points and senior Joe Haney and junior Tristan Brito each chipped in 10 for the Colonials, who broke the game open with a 27-5 second-quarter bombardment. Haney also contributed five assists and three steals.
Sophomore Justin Roberts scored 16 points and junior Orion Andrews added 10 to lead Manchester.
(17) New Egypt 46, (16) Keyport 36
Senior Clyde Ferris scored 19 points and the Warriors (10-12) outscored the Red Raiders (10-12) by 10 points in the first half on the way to a first-round road win that sends New Egypt to Friday’s round of 16 at top-seeded Pinelands.
Senior Nolan Arnold added 13 points and junior Paul Kennedy netted 10 for New Egypt. Senior Kai Arrington led Keyport with a game-high 20 points.
Regular Season
Class A South
Toms River East 65, Toms River North 53
Sophomore Brady Gillen poured in a career-high 34 points and the Raiders (10-10, 4-6) caught fire in the fourth quarter to pull away with a win over the Mariners (7-15, 3-7) in the Class B South finale for both teams.
Sophomore Tommy Intintola added 11 points and classmate Carson Frazier posted 10 points and 10 rebounds, including a dunk in the final minute to cap an 18-7 fourth quarter for Toms River East.
Sophomore Jake Greenberg led Toms River North with 14 points.
Non-Division
Manalapan 79, Donovan Catholic 74
Freshman Josh Sosinov led a balanced offensive attack with 21 points and the Braves (9-13) prevailed on the road over the Griffins (6-13).
Senior Dean Aviles added 19 points, junior Joe Farino poured in 15 and junior Grayson Ferraro pitched in 13 for Manalapan, which won the fourth quarter, 27-16, to close out the win.
Senior Pat Gallo scored 24 points and freshman brother Gerard Gallo netted 23 to lead Donovan Catholic, with junior Gabe Feliciano throwing in 12 in the loss.
