Senior Ajay Mathews scored 16 straight Marlboro points in the final 3:30 regulation plus overtime before senior Rob Glorioso hit the game-winning three-pointer with 30 seconds left, capping a Mustangs (18-4) win over the Rebels (18-5) in an overtime classic.

Matthews led Marlboro with 22 points, which included a game-tying three-pointer with eight seconds left in the fourth that sent the game into overtime. Mathews made six field goals in the final 7:30 of the game and all six tied the game, which included one three-point play that tied the game on the made free throw.

Junior Jayson Parker led Howell with a game-high 27 points, but it was senior Cayden Parker and junior Noah Musto who carried the Rebels within the brink of their first ever trip to the semifinals with their fourth-quarter scoring. Cayden Parker scored nine of his 18 points in the fourth quarter while Musto also scored nine in the fourth, including 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.

Musto converted a three-point play to give Howell a 52-49 lead with 2:58 left, then hit six more free throws in a row. The first four of those free throws gave Howell a two-point lead and the final two made it 58-55 with 26.9 seconds left before Mathews came down and buried the game-winning three from college distance at the top of the key.

Jayson Parker opened overtime with a floater in the lane, followed by a game-tying fadeaway by Mathews. Cayden Parker propelled Howell back into the lead with a three-pointer, but Mathews countered with a contested three-pointer from the left wing.

Marlboro made the stop on the other end and on the deciding possession, junior Nolan Gong missed an initial shot, but junior Dylan McEwan kept the play alive and senior Drew Lubeck kicked the ball to the corner for Glorioso, who drilled the go-ahead shot. Cayden Parker got off a three-pointer from the corner in the waning seconds that missed the mark.

Gong added 15 points for Marlboro, including 13 in the second half and eight in the fourth quarter. McEwan scored 12 of his 14 points in the third quarter, including a run of 10 straight Marlboro points.

Musto finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Marlboro will face No. 1 CBA Wednesday in the Mustangs’ first SCT semifinal appearance since 2022.

(1) CBA 78, (8) Holmdel 46

Senior Charlie Marcoullier knocked down five three-pointers on the way to a game-high 17 points off the bench and the Colts (21-3) shook off an early challenge from the Hornets (13-7) to blow the game open and reach the SCT semifinals.

Senior Connor Andree, classmate Charlie Messano and sophomore Izayah Cooper each added 10 points for CBA, with Andree also handing out six assists and Cooper dishing out four. Senior Matt Veisz poured all eight of his points in the second half for CBA, which went on a 35-8 run that turned a 30-25 lead with under two minutes left in the first half into a 65-33 advantage by the first minute of the fourth quarter.

Senior Jack Vallillo led Holmdel with 12 points and nine rebounds, with sophomore teammate Anthony Serini adding 10 points in the loss.

CBA advances to play No. 5 Marlboro in Wednesday’s SCT semifinals.

Toms River East 72, Manchester 48

Sophomore Tommy Intintola scored 23 points while pulling in eight rebounds to lead the Raiders (12-10) to a rout of the Hawks (5-17) on Toms River East’s Senior Day.

Sophomore Brady Gillen added 12 points and seniors Austin Weber and Matt Bell each chipped in 10 points for Toms River East. Sophomore Justin Roberts scored a game-high 26 points to lead Manchester.

Middletown North 63, Henry Hudson 51

Junior Nate Tyburczy led four Middletown North scorers in double-figures with 19 points and the Lions (7-16) picked up their second win in as many days by beating the Admirals (15-7).

Senior Eddie Lopez scored 16 points, freshman Nick DiGiovanni added 15 and senior Robert Kimball netted 11 for Middletown North, which overcame a 35-point game by Henry Hudson junior JoJo Newell.

Toms River South 51, Pinelands 38

Ocean 53, Overbrook 37

Aidan Saint Louis led a balanced scoring effort with 13 points and the Spartans (17-9) topped the Rams (17-7) for a home win. Sophomore Brody Bell and freshman Ahmad Ayyash each added 11 points and junior Hodges and freshman Omar Ayyash each chipped in eight apiece for Ocean.

New Egypt 44, Pitman 40

Senior Clyde Ferris scored 14 points and classmate Nolan Arnold closed out the win on the free-throw line as the Warriors (11-13) beat the Panthers (10-14) to set themselves up for a spot in the NJSIAA Tournament in South Jersey Group I.

Arnold finished with 11 points, including a pair of free throws with six seconds left after grabbing the offensive rebound on his own missed free throw. Senior Ryan Reynolds also chipped in 10 points for New Egypt.

Cherry Hill East 79, Southern 62

Junior Noah Perna scored 26 points, but the Rams (11-10) fell into an early hole vs. the Cougars (21-3) and could not catch up. Senior Jake Sliwinski poured in 15 points while junior Gavin Gerckens dropped 14 for Southern.

Shore 67, Roselle Park 40

Senior Finn Watson led Shore’s balanced offense with 14 points and the Blue Devils (17-5) handled the Panthers (6-16) on the road. Senior Andrew Barham added 13 points and twin brother Ryan Barham pitched in 12 for Shore.

Freehold Twp. 57, Old Bridge 34

Junior John O’Neill scored 19 points and the Patriots (13-9) cruised to a road win over the Knights (8-16). Junior Jake Schultzel added 13 points, classmate Sam Hawksby chipped in 10 and fellow junior Dakota Lasater netted seven for Freehold Township.
