Sophomore Izayah Cooper scored 11 of his game-high 15 points in the first half and also dished out seven assists as the Colts (23-3) led the Caseys (19-7) wire-to-wire to capture their first SCT championship since 2010.

Cooper and senior Connor Andree ignited a 13-0 start to the game for CBA, which held RBC without a point until the 2:53 mark of the first quarter. Cooper and Andree combined for the first 11 points, with Cooper going for seven and Andree four. By the end of the first quarter, CBA led, 17-3, and never led by fewer than 12 the rest of the way.

Andree finished with 14 points and six rebounds, while junior Avery Lynch added nine and five and senior Charlie Messano chipped in eight points and three steals for CBA.

Junior Ryder Ciorciari led Red Bank Catholic with 10 points and classmate Gavin Biasi threw in nine in the loss. In a Jan. 17 overtime loss at CBA, junior Tyler Hager (17 points), senior Ryan Saxton (15) and senior James Hankowski (12) combined for 44 of RBC’s 65 points. CBA’s defense held the trio to a combined nine points in Friday’s championship game.

 

Class C South

Pinelands 55, Brick 42

Senior Josh Barongo scored a game-high 18 points and the Wildcats (16-8, 9-1) avenged a road loss to Brick by upending the Green Dragons (11-14, 8-2) at home and clinching the program’s first ever Shore Conference division championship.

Junior Chris Husni added 15 points and classmate Tyler Garcia poured in 11 for Pinelands, which worked its way to a 33-17 halftime lead. Junior Sean Nausedas scored 15 points, sophomore Jaylen Johnson netted 13 and junior Jamel Pitts chipped in 12 to lead Brick.

 

Non-Division

No. 4 Marlboro 64, Southern 55

Senior Ajay Mathews and junior Dylan McEwan each scored 16 points and the Mustangs (19-5) battled past the Rams (12-12) in the final tune-up for both teams before the NJSIAA Group IV playoffs open on Tuesday.

McEwan also plucked four steals, junior teammate Nolan Gong added 15 points and six assists, and senior Drew Lubeck posted nine points, 11 rebounds and three assists for Marlboro.

Junior Noah Perna scored a game-high 24 points to lead Southern, with senior Jake Sliwinski throwing in 11 and junior Josh Brofman knocked down three three-pointers for nine points in the loss.

No. 7 Holmdel 66, Colts Neck 55 (OT)

Senior Jack Vallillo scored 20 of his team-high 26 points after halftime and the Hornets (15-7) outscored the Cougars (12-12), 12-1, in overtime to nail down the win on the road.

Sophomore Anthony Serini added 17 points and hit his lone three-pointer of the game in overtime, while senior Jack Cannone added nine points in the win. Sophomore Nate Sloane poured in a game-high 27 points, including 16 in the first quarter, to lead Colts Neck.
