Class A South
No. 9 Toms River East 4, No. 4 Point Beach 2
James Whalen and Jonathan Pallman combined on a four-hitter and the Raiders took advantage of three Point Beach errors during a three-run fifth that proved the difference in Toms River East’s second win over the Garnet Gulls over the past three days.
With the game tied, 1-1, Toms River East loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth on a walk and two errors. Joey DiMeo broke the tie with a sacrifice fly that gave the Raiders a 2-1 lead and a dropped fly ball plated another run to make it 3-1. Chase Caswell followed with another sacrifice fly to push the lead to 4-1.
Point Beach drew a run closer when Pallman hit Antonio Acevedo leading off the top of the sixth and unleashed an errant pickoff that allowed Acevedo to score. Pallman bounced back to retire three straight to end the sixth, then worked around another hit batter and a Brody Powers single to pitch a scoreless seventh inning and seal the win.
DiMeo also created the first Toms River East run in the bottom of the third. He drew a two out walk, took second on a wild pitch, stole third base and scored when the throw to third got away from Point Beach third baseman Carson Pfeifer.
Sophomore Thomas Slobiski pitched five no-hit innings, but took the loss thanks to the four unearned runs on his ledger. Slobiski also tied the game with an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning.

No. 7 Wall 4, No. 2 Brick Memorial 1
Will Hague doubled three times, including an RBI double in the bottom of the first, and senior left-hander Nick Plevier went the distance in a five-hitter to lead the Crimson Knights over the Mustangs, salvaging a split of the two-game series between the Class A South foes.
Hague’s two-out RBI double gave Wall a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and a dropped fly ball with two out in the bottom of the second extended Wall’s lead to 2-0. Brick Memorial opened the top of the fourth vs. Plevier with a single by Dan Golembiewski and a double by Brody Moore, which set up an RBI ground out by Jack Moriarty that cut the Mustangs deficit in half.
Wall added two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth, the first of which came on a lead-off solo home run by John Catanio — his second home run in Wall’s first four games. Austin Harr tacked on another run with an RBI single.
Brick Memorial left-hander Zach Pirnik — an All-Shore selection as a sophomore in 2025 after going 9-3 with a 1.96 ERA — suffered his first loss of the season, during which he allowed a first-inning run in a third straight start to open the year. In each of his first two starts, Pirnik did not allow a run after the first inning in earning complete-game wins over both Toms River East and Manasquan.

Jackson 11, Southern 9
Charlie Buchinsky drove in three runs in the first two innings to help the Jaguars build an 11-run lead, then Jackson held off a furious comeback effort by the Rams to close out a regular-season sweep of Southern.
Buchinsky, Aiden Alu and Sean Hallihan each singled home a run in Jackson’s four-run first and Buchinsky made it 6-0 with a two-run single in the bottom of the second. Michael Fogarty delivered a two-run single for an 8-0 lead in the bottom of the third, followed by an RBI single by Carney O’Donnell. Buchinsky put a two-out ground ball in play that Southern misplayed into two more runs, making it 11-0 by the end of the third inning.
Southern fought back for five runs in the top of the fourth, which included an RBI single by Dawson Howarth and an RBI double by Nolan Nitahara — the lone extra-base hit in the game. Howarth also pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to keep Southern in the game.
Ryan Dietrich drew Southern a run closer with an RBI single in the fifth and Harrison Grose did the same in the top of the sixth, making it 11-7 going to the seventh after a scoreless bottom of the sixth pitched by Owen Hughes.
Caden Rathbauer retired the first two batters of the seventh before Hughes and Nitahara kept the Rams alive with back-to-back singles, followed by a hit batter to load the bases. Grose then came through with another run-scoring single through the middle, this time to plate a pair of runs and bring the go-ahead run to the plate. Rathbauer recovered to induce a ground ball to winning pitcher Matt Galayda at shortstop for the final out on a fielder’s choice.

Brick 4, Donovan Catholic 1
James Donoghue drove in both of Brick’s first two runs and John Renda took care of the rest by firing a three-hit complete game to pick up his first career win while leading the Green Dragons to their first win of the season.
Donoghue drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the second, but Donovan Catholic tied the game in the bottom of the third when Steve Malato led off with a single and scored on a fielder’s choice RBI by Aiden Brescia. In the top of the fourth, Donoghue broke another tie with a sacrifice fly after Liam Shave led off with a double and gave way to pinch-runner Giovanni Ortega.
Brick added single runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, first on an RBI bunt by Matt Goodfellow in the fifth, then on an RBI single by Brayden Heatter in the sixth.
After surrendering a one-out single to Evan Bailey in the bottom of the fourth, Renda faced the minimum 11 batters to finish the game. The lone batter to reach over the final three innings did so on an error and Renda erased the runner by inducing an inning-ending double-play in the fifth. He then pitched clean innings in both the sixth and seventh to finish off the complete game.

Point Boro 7, Central 3
Catcher Fin Czaplinski picked up his starting pitcher, Aidan Dombrowsky, with a tie-breaking, two-run single in the bottom of the third inning and Dombrowsky combined with Ryan Kowalewski to shut down the Golden Eagles the rest of the way to give the Panthers the win.
Kaden Stout struck first for Central with an RBI single but Point Boro came right back with a run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Jake Clayton. Point Boro took a 3-1 lead on RBI singles by Mike Metcalfe and Nick Carmino in the bottom of the second, but Central tied the game on RBI hits by Vinny Tremeterra and Joey Rosas in the top of the third.
Point Boro threw a runner out at the plate on Tremeterra’s RBI single, then caught Tremeterra attempting to reach second on the same play. Rosas made up for his team’s base-running snafu with an RBI double to plate Stout with the tying run in that same inning.
Lokerson picked up the outfield assist on that play at the plate in the third, then capped the scoring with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth. Kowalewski completed three scoreless innings of relief work to earn the save.

Toms River North 7, Manasquan 6 (8 Innings)
Junior centerfielder and No. 9 hitter Cole Harrison ambushed the first pitch of the bottom of the eighth and drilled it over the leftfield wall for a game-winning, walk-off solo home run that gave the Mariners a dramatic win over the Warriors.
The homer was the first varsity long ball for Harrison, who started as a freshman two years ago, opted to run track last spring as a sophomore, then came back to the baseball diamond as a junior.
Toms River North fell behind, 4-0, on Thursday and shifted its offense in gear in the fourth inning. Jason Verderrosa scorched an RBI double to get the Mariners on the board and came around to score on a balk with two out after Dominic Ostroman and Bryce Kazanowsky each walked to extend the inning and load the bases.
Kellan Quinn delivered a two-out RBI single to grow Manasquan’s lead to 5-2 in the top of the fifth inning and the Warriors were one out from escaping the bottom of the fifth unscathed when Toms River North struck again. After winning pitcher Ian St. Luce doubled to put runners on second and third with one out and a strikeout for the second out, Owen Stefan singled home a run to make it 5-3. A wild pitch made it 5-4 and Ostroman came through with a two-run single to rightfield to catapult Toms River North into the lead, 6-5.
Manasquan also came up clutch to tie the game, with Jake Litzinger lining an equalizing RBI single to right with two out in the top of the sixth. St. Luce then silenced Manasquan’s bats for the final two innings, retiring all six of the seven batters he faced while striking out three, with the lone runner to reach doing so on an error with two out in the top of the seventh. That put runners on the corners for the Warriors, but St. Luce reached back for a strikeout to end the threat.

Lacey 5, Manchester 3
Dalton Johnson, Brayden Messina and Evan Greenberg all checked in with RBI hits during a five-run fifth inning and sophomore Jayden McNeil took a shutout into the seventh inning before the Lions eventually held on to beat the Hawks and complete the regular-season sweep.
Manchester scored three runs in the top of the seventh and brought the go-ahead run to the plate with runners on the corners and two out before Zach Lodge recorded the final out on a fielder’s choice ground ball to Messina at shortstop. Losing pitcher Brody Boyd — who pitched a complete game — singled home a run in the inning, as did Sam Spaziano.
Johnson opened the scoring with an RBI single in the second, followed by two runs scoring on a fielder’s choice ground ball by Strummer Caputo. Messina smoked an RBI double to make it 4-0 and Greenberg topped off the rally with an RBI single for a 5-0 lead.

Nick Coles opened the scoring with an RBI double, followed by the two-run single by Haviland that made it 3-0 in the top the first. Jacob Haywood responded with an RBI single in the bottom of the first for the first of his three hits and delivered again in the bottom of the third with an RBI single that cut Barnegat’s lead to 3-2.
Haviland led off the fourth with a single, stole third after a single by Nick Malinowski and scored on a squeeze bunt by Nick Bucca to push Barnegat’s lead up to 4-2.
Tyler Dean singled home a run in the bottom of the sixth to pull Pinelands within 4-3 but Barnegat responded with an RBI single by Nick Bruno to go up 5-3 in the top of the seventh. Haywood led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and McCrohan hit Landon Seidenfaden with two out, but the junior right-hander rebounded by inducing a game-ending fly out.

St. Rose 6, New Egypt 5
James Alesso went 3-for-3 with a tie-breaking home run in the bottom of the third and struck out 15 over six innings on the mound to power the Purple Roses to a narrow win over the Warriors that completes the regular-season sweep of New Egypt.
Justin Kramer hit a game-tying RBI double off Alesso in the top of the third inning but Alesso came right back with his two-run shot off Iona-bound New Egypt ace Nolan Arnold.
St. Rose extended its lead to 6-1 with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Catcher Lucas Ferlise made it 4-1 with an RBI single and freshman Kingston Balthazar doubled home a pair to give St. Rose what turned out to be the winning runs.
Anthony Vidal pulled New Egypt closer with an RBI double in the sixth to make it 6-3 and Kramer’s second RBI hit cut it to 6-5 with one out in the top of the seventh. Dylan Harper singled to put the go-ahead run on first with the tying run on second, but Joe Ferrante took over on the mound and ended the game with a strikeout, followed by a line out by Vidal to rightfielder Jake Whitehead.
