Powered by one of the most productive freshman classes in Shore Conference history, Red Bank Catholic finished the 2025 season as the No. 1 team in the Shore Conference, captured the American Division title, and advanced to the Non-Public B semifinals.

With 16 starters returning, expectations are even higher in 2026. The Caseys enter the season with their sights set not only on repeating as the Shore Conference’s top team, but on making a serious run in the Non-Public B title chase and capturing the program’s first state championship since 2018.

Red Bank Catholic will once again navigate a loaded Class A North schedule that includes rivals Rumson and Wall. The non-divisional slate is even more daunting, featuring defending Non-Public B champion DePaul, New York powerhouse St. Anthony’s, defending Group 4 state champion Winslow, and Donovan Catholic.

Offense

The Caseys return eight starters from an offense that averaged 31.7 points per game last season while totaling 2,359 rushing yards and 2,293 passing yards.

Sophomore Rahmir Rivera (5-9, 175) returns for an encore after earning First Team All-Shore honors as a freshman by throwing for 2,183 yards and 24 touchdowns. If he continues to build on those numbers over the next three seasons, Rivera will have a legitimate opportunity to challenge the New Jersey career passing record of 9,672 yards, set by Timber Creek’s Devin Leary in 2017.

Sophomore Gabe Kemp (5-9, 175) also returns after a sensational freshman campaign in which he rushed for 1,847 yards and 17 touchdowns and earned First Team All-Shore honors. Kemp is on pace to challenge Keyport legend Kenny Cattouse’s Shore Conference career rushing record of 6,676 yards. With increased production over the next three years, he could also put himself in the conversation for former Hopatcong running back Joe Martinek’s all-time state rushing record of 7,589 yards.

Junior Jason Berecsky (5-11, 175) is the lone returning starter at wide receiver after hauling in 42 receptions for 557 yards and five touchdowns last season. He will be joined in the starting lineup by junior Ethan Kennedy (6-4, 210), who possesses an outstanding catch radius, and senior Mike O’Neal (5-9, 165). Talented sophomores Mason Koch (5-10, 175), Max Juliani (5-10, 175), and Austin Medley (6-2, 175) are also expected to compete for snaps.

Senior TJ Walsh (6-2, 225) returns as the Caseys’ three-year starting tight end after recording 15 receptions for 122 yards and two touchdowns last season on his way to Third Team All-Shore honors. Seniors Joe Egan (6-2, 210), a Rutgers lacrosse commit, and Brady Johnson (6-3, 215) will also see significant playing time in multiple-tight end sets.

The offensive line projects to be one of Red Bank Catholic’s biggest strengths with four returning starters. Senior Jordan Key (6-2, 250), a three-year starter and a 2025 First Team All-Shore selection, returns at left tackle, while senior Lorenzo Tartamella (6-3, 250) anchors the right tackle position. Senior Joe Amadeo (6-0, 280), a Second Team All-American division selection in 2025, is back for his third season as the starting left guard, and senior Christian Peter (6-2, 290) returns at right guard after earning Second Team All-American division honors last season. Junior Michael Wheeler (6-1, 260) is projected to step in at center.

Sophomore Simon Picinich (5-11, 165) returns as Red Bank Catholic’s kicker and punter after an outstanding freshman season. He converted all 10 of his field-goal attempts, including a long of 41 yards, and made 42 of 43 extra-point attempts, finishing with First Team All-Shore honors.

Defense

The Caseys return eight starters from a defense that allowed 11.8 points per game last season.

Tartamella returns as a four-year starter at defensive end after recording 70 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and six sacks on his way to First Team All-Shore accolades last season. The Navy commit anchors the Caseys’ defensive front alongside Key, a three-year starter who finished with 67 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and two sacks. Junior Asher Cummings (6-2, 215) will start at the other defensive end spot after totaling 62 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and a team-high seven sacks last season, finishing with Third Team All-Shore honors. Junior RJ Banks (6-1, 255) is projected to start at defensive tackle after tallying 25 tackles and two sacks a year ago.

Junior Luke Scaturro (5-8, 180), a Second Team All-Shore selection last year, is back at outside linebacker after totaling 100 tackles, including 10 for loss. Junior Brock Goodman (6-2, 205) returns at inside linebacker after leading the team with 105 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss and finishing as a Second Team All-American Division selection, while senior Che Patrick (6-2, 215) is projected to start at the other outside linebacker spot.

Senior Jordan Mosenthine (5-10, 180) returns as a three-year starters at cornerback. Mosenthine was a Second Team All-American Division pick. Sophomore Jordan Wilson (6-2, 175) is the projected starter on the opposite side. Junior Aiden Myers (6-2, 185) and senior Danny Love (5-10, 165) are pushing for time.

Berecsky, a First Team All-Shore selection last season, is back at free safety after recording 47 tackles and three interceptions last season, including two returned for touchdowns. Senior Kieran McGonnell, a Second Team All-Shore selection last year, will play strong safety after finishing with 69 tackles and two interceptions last season. Senior Kyle Wise (6-0, 180), a St. Peter’s Prep transfer who has committed to Monmouth, Koch and junior Michael Bialoblocki (5-10, 170) are also in the mix.

The Caseys will be tested immediately with a season-opening matchup against defending Non-Public B state champion DePaul. A victory would send a clear message that Red Bank Catholic is the team to beat in Non-Public B this season.

Newcomer to Watch: Kyle Wise, Sr., DB

Wise will presumably have to sit out three games due to the senior transfer rule, but upon his return, the Monmouth commit will provide the Caseys with a player who has experience matching up against some of the state’s top wide receivers at Non-Public programs from his time at St. Peter’s Prep.
