The Colts strengthened their hold on the top spot in the rankings with a 13-12 victory over Rumson-Fair Haven. They lost to national power New Canaan (CT) before rebounding with a 13-4 victory over Toms River East. CBA has been one of the most balanced teams in the Shore Conference, with 16 players scoring so far this season. Junior midfielder Christian Fox leads the team with 19 points (10 G, 9 A), while sophomore midfielder Danny Varone has 18 points (14 G, 4 A). CBA has not yet lost to a team from New Jersey. The Colts will travel to Haddonfield on Tuesday, host St. Joseph (Met.) on Thursday, and travel to No. 4 Holmdel on Saturday.

The Bulldogs have struggled against a merciless schedule, but a one-goal loss to CBA shows they remain among the Shore Conference’s top teams despite their early-season record. Rumson-Fair Haven went 0-3 last week, losing to CBA, falling 14-6 to Manhasset (NY), and 9-4 to New Canaan (CT). This week, the Bulldogs can justify their ranking against Shore Conference teams ranked just behind them, traveling to No. 4 Holmdel today before facing No. 3 Southern and No. 5 Manasquan.

3. Southern (7-0) Last Week: 3

The Rams continued their perfect start to the season with commanding wins against Washington Township and No. 8 Wall, in addition to a nail-biting win over No. 5 Manasquan. Junior midfielder Kyle Sininsky leads the team in points with 33 (20 G, 13 A), while sophomore midfielder Niko Iliescu and junior attackers Cash McVey and Shea O’Donnell are not far behind him. Junior goalie Nick Hughes has had the best start to the season of any goalie in the Shore Conference, with 85 saves to only 27 goals allowed. Southern has an opportunity to climb at least another spot if it can knock off No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven on Wednesday and defeat No. 9 Toms River East on Friday.

4. Holmdel (5-1) Last Week: 4

The Hornets bolstered their resume with wins over No. 7 Red Bank and Old Bridge. Senior attacker Finnegan Buchan leads with 32 points (16 G, 16 A), just ahead of junior David Perrotti, who has 28 (22 G, 6 A). Freshman FOGO Tyler Carri has shown promise, winning 61% of face-offs early in his career. With this momentum, Holmdel faces No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven today, then takes on No. 6 Shore and No. 1 CBA later in the week. These games give the Hornets a prime shot to leap in the rankings.

5. Manasquan (3-2) Last Week: 5

The Warriors dropped a 10-9 heartbreaker to No. 3 Southern before earning a much-needed win against traditionally strong Moorestown. Junior Kieran Schneider has led a balanced attack with 17 points (11 G, 6 A), while senior midfielder Jack O’Reilly has 12 points (6 G, 6 A). Manasquan hosts No. 7 Red Bank on Wednesday and No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven on Saturday as they look to regain ground in the American Division.

6. Shore (3-1) Last Week: 6

The Blue Devils bounced back from their first loss of the season with a pair of victories over ranked teams last week in No. 9 Toms River East and No. 7 Red Bank, the latter of which came down to the wire. Senior Reid Spallone leads with 17 points (9 G, 8 A). Junior Cole Torres has been exceptional on face-offs with a 72% win-rate. Shore hosts No. 4 Holmdel on Wednesday and Eastern on Saturday.

7. Red Bank (3-4) Last Week: 9

The Bucs are one of the rare teams to move up in the rankings after a 1-2 week, thanks to the two teams ahead of them going 0-2. After cruising past Freehold Township with a 17-0 win, Red Bank dropped games against No. 4 Holmdel, 13-8, and No. 6 Shore, 11-10. Despite these losses, the Bucs showed they can hang with top teams, staying highly competitive in both contests. Junior Justin Valentino continues his early-season heater with 45 points (27 goals, 18 assists), which will be crucial as Red Bank faces a challenging week, traveling to No. 5 Manasquan on Wednesday before a tilt with No. 8 Wall.

8. Wall (2-5) Last Week: 7

The Crimson Knights continue to slide after losing 9-7 at Mainland and 15-6 to No. 3 Southern. Wall has played a tough schedule, and their win over No. 10 Middletown South looks more impressive since the Eagles entered the top ten. Still, the Knights must stack more wins to stay ranked. Senior midfielder Patrick Freud leads with 21 points (16 G, 5 A), and senior attacker Wyatt Capro is close behind with 16 points (13 G, 3 A). Wall visits Ocean today, hosts No. 9 Toms River East on Wednesday, and travels to No. 7 Red Bank on Saturday in what is a critical week to regain momentum.

9. Toms River East (0-3) Last Week: 8

The schedule-maker did the Raiders no favors, as two of their first three games were against the top two teams in the Shore Conference. Toms River East fell 9-4 against No. 6 Shore, before the wheels came off in a 13-4 loss against No. 1 CBA. The Raiders’ backs are against the wall with road games against No. 8 Wall and No. 3 Southern on the schedule this week. Toms River East’s response after a 0-3 start will tell a lot about the team.

10. Middletown South (4-2) Last Week: Unranked

The Eagles showed their mettle after a 0-2 start, ripping off four consecutive wins, including two last week. Middletown South handled previously-ranked Howell 18-5 before taking care of Point Boro, which was on the bubble, 15-7. Senior Jackson O’Keefe leads with 35 points (23 G, 12 A). Senior Luke Gaffney has 29 points (19 G, 10 A). The Eagles have a critical Colonial division matchup at Manalapan, which is lurking on the bubble, on Wednesday before a non-conference game at Mainland.
