Rumson-Fair Haven remains at No. 1, and their resume is the strongest in the Shore once you look beyond the overall record. The Bulldogs’ 5–6 mark is largely the product of one of the toughest non-conference schedules in New Jersey, with four of those losses coming against teams ranked inside the state Top 20.

Within the Shore Conference, they’ve been the most proven team, going 5–1, with their only loss coming by one goal to CBA. More importantly, they’ve consistently delivered against the conference’s top tier; Rumson owns a one-goal win over No. 4 Southern and also holds decisive victories over No. 3 Holmdel, No. 6 Red Bank, and No. 7 Manasquan. In total, they’ve beaten four teams currently ranked in this Top 10, including three in the top seven.

That combination—elite strength of schedule, multiple high-end wins, and consistent conference play—keeps them in the top spot. Although the head-to-head loss to CBA tightens the margin, no other team has matched Rumson’s body of work within the Shore Conference.

Upcoming: vs. Westfield, at St. Joseph (Metuchen), at Shore

2. CBA (8–5) Last Week: 2

CBA remains at No. 2, and they have a strong case for the top spot. The Colts have just one loss in the Shore Conference, a one-goal defeat to Holmdel. Like Rumson, their overall record reflects a demanding schedule that includes multiple matchups against state Top 20 competition, testing a young roster that is still working through some inconsistency. The upside, however, is as high as anyone in the conference.

Their resume further supports their ranking. Owning a road win over No. 1 Rumson-Fair Haven, the Colts also boast a blowout of No. 4 Southern and quality wins over No. 10 Middletown South and Toms River East, just outside the rankings. Among the Shore’s teams, this collection of wins is among the strongest.

With the win over Rumson and the loss to Holmdel creating a triangle of teams that beat each other, CBA could make a case for any spot in the top three. The Colts have a lesser score margin than Rumson in games between the top three teams, which is ultimately keeping them in the two slot for now.

Upcoming: at No. 7 Manasquan, vs. No. 6 Red Bank

3. Holmdel (7-2) Last Week: 4

Holmdel moves up to No. 3 after Southern’s lopsided loss against CBA. The Hornets, like the two teams above them, have an argument for the top spot. What makes Holmdel stand out is the depth of its wins. They’ve beaten No. 2 CBA, No. 5 Shore, No. 6 Red Bank, No. 7 Manasquan, and No. 8 Wall—giving them one of the most complete collections of wins in the conference.

The Hornets sit below CBA and Rumson because, of the teams that each beat one another, they are the only one to suffer a lopsided loss—15-4 to Rumson two weeks ago.

Upcoming: vs. No. 4 Southern, at Toms River East

4. Southern (10–2) Last Week: 3

Southern slips one spot after a decisive loss to CBA. Overall, though, the Rams remain one of the conference’s steadiest teams, with victories over No. 5 Shore, No. 7 Manasquan, and No. 8 Wall.

Building on their conference success, Southern’s non-conference resume also adds significant weight. Wins over Allentown, Washington Township, Northern Burlington, and Strathaven (PA) showcase a schedule that extends well beyond the Shore, with several of those programs competing at high levels in their respective states and sections.

Southern played Rumson-Fair Haven as tight as anyone, falling by just one goal in a game that showed they can compete with the No. 1 team. However, their loss to CBA was much more one-sided, and when paired with Holmdel’s win over the Colts and a deeper collection of top-10 wins, it gives Holmdel the slight edge—for now.

That “for now” is key, with an immediate opportunity ahead. Southern faces Holmdel this week, in a matchup likely to determine which team belongs in the No. 3 spot moving forward.

Upcoming: at No. 3 Holmdel, vs. Ocean City

5. Shore (4-3) Last Week: 5

Despite a one-goal loss to Manasquan last week, the Blue Devils do not automatically drop since they have a one-goal win over Red Bank, who defeated Manasquan by one goal. Once again, we have a triangle of teams that have beaten one another, making the next three spots debatable. The separator between the teams in the triangle for the next three spots is that Shore and Red Bank are currently ahead of Manasquan in the division standings, having one fewer loss against American Division teams. Once you account for the better division record over Manasquan, Shore’s head-to-head over Red Bank gives it a slight nod.

Building on their win over No. 6 Red Bank, Shore also defeated Toms River East, a team just outside the top 10.

Taken together, these results show that Shore can compete with strong teams and beat those in its range. However, they haven’t yet broken through against the upper tier, with losses to No. 3 Holmdel and No. 4 Southern.

Upcoming: vs. No. 8 Wall, vs. No. 1 Rumson-Fair Haven

6. Red Bank (6-5) Last Week: 6

The Bucs have a case to be one spot higher with key wins over No. 7 Manasquan, No. 8 Wall, and No. 9 Manalapan. What holds them here for now is the use of the division records to separate the triangle, which placed Manasquan below both teams and then made head-to-head the deciding factor in keeping Shore above Red Bank for now.

Red Bank has also lost to No. 1 Rumson-Fair Haven and No. 3 Holmdel. There’s no bad conference loss, and they stayed competitive in the latter game.

The Bucs have also faced strong opponents outside the Shore, including Westfield, a state-ranked team. The tough schedule adds context to their overall record.

Upcoming: vs. Toms River East, at No. 2 CBA

7. Manasquan (4-4) Last Week: 7

Manasquan stays at No. 7 and remains one of the tougher teams in the Shore to evaluate. Their Shore Conference wins include Red Bank Catholic and No. 5 Shore, with the latter being their best win. That win would have propelled them upward in the rankings, had it not been for the triangle among the Warriors, Shore, and Red Bank. By virtue of having the worst division record among the three teams, Manasquan remains in this slot for now.

Additionally, in non-conference play, Manasquan owns victories over Moorestown and Robbinsville—both traditionally strong programs.

All four of the Warriors’ losses have come against ranked competition—No. 1 Rumson-Fair Haven, No. 3 Holmdel, No. 4 Southern, and No. 6 Red Bank.

Upcoming: vs. No. 2 CBA, at Monroe

8. Wall (5-7) Last Week: 8

Wall's Dylan Cohen (Photo: Tom Smith | tspsportsimages.com) - Wall Dylan Cohen

Wall has picked up wins over No. 10 Middletown South, Toms River East, Ocean, and Middletown North, showing they can consistently handle teams in the bottom of the rankings as well as those on the outside. Their losses have come against the upper tier—No. 2 CBA, No. 3 Holmdel, No. 4 Southern, and No. 6 Red Bank.

Wall has also challenged itself outside of conference play. They played A.L. Johnson in a tight loss, with that group putting together an excellent season, and also faced Haddonfield and Mainland, both talented programs.

Given these results, Wall feels properly slotted at this point, since they’ve proven they can beat teams below them but haven’t been able to break through against the top half of the rankings.

Upcoming: at No. 5 Shore, at Cherokee

9. Manalapan (6-2) Last Week: No. 9

Manalapan remains at No. 9 because it has a key win over No. 10 Middletown South, as well as victories over Barnegat, Lacey, Middletown North, Colts Neck, and Point Boro. The Braves have dropped just one Shore Conference game, to No. 6 Red Bank by one goal.

Their lone Shore Conference loss to the Bucs stands out, as it proved the Braves are capable of competing with teams ranked above them. Manalapan fell by one goal in a game they controlled for most of the way before slipping late.

Outside the conference, they also lost to Scotch Plains-Fanwood, a program having a strong season at the statewide level.

As a result, at this point, Manalapan has proven they can consistently beat teams below them, but they’re still searching for a breakthrough win that would push them higher in the rankings.

Upcoming: vs. Brick Memorial, at Howell

10. Middletown South (6-4) Last Week: 10

Middletown South holds onto the final spot in the Top 10 after a 2-0 week, defeating Lacey and Red Bank Catholic. The Eagles have also topped Brick Memorial, Howell, and Point Boro, creating separation from most of the bubble teams.

All three Shore Conference defeats have come against teams ranked ahead of them: No. 2 CBA, No. 8 Wall, and No. 9 Manalapan. As a result, the Eagles remain firmly in the ten slot.

Additionally, outside the conference, Middletown South owns a lopsided win over Old Bridge while also taking a loss to Mainland, a program putting together a strong season.

Upcoming: vs. Middletown North, at Barnegat
