Shore Sports Insider Week 10 Baseball Top 10

The race for No. 1 at the Shore is nearly over and there are still multiple teams still making their pitch to finish at the top of the list for 2026. Championships make the resume and there have been 11 teams in the Shore Conference this season to win one of those (division, county or conference) and none that has won multiple. Seven of the 11 champions are still in the running for NJSIAA Tournament hardware, which means there are four teams left that are seeking their first championship this year. Could one of those four climb all the way to the No. 1 spot? It is not out of the question.

For now, here is how things stand with two weeks’ worth of games to go.

1. Christian Brothers Academy (17-8, 7-3) Last Week: 2

With its Shore Conference Tournament championship and two NJSIAA Tournament wins, CBA pulls into the No. 1 spot in the rankings as the hottest team in the Shore Conference. The Colts have won 10 straight heading into Tuesday’s game at Immaculata and even if CBA loses this week, it will take a major effort from any team in CBA’s rearview mirror to pass the Colts for the top spot.

2. Point Pleasant Beach (16-6, 7-3) Last Week: 3

With a favorable draw in the Central Jersey Group I playoffs, Point Beach is eyeing its seventh straight trip to the sectional final as it prepares for a road game Wednesday at second-seeded Piscataway Magnet. Reaching the sectional final will not add to Point Beach’s case to move to No. 1 or even stat at No. 2 for that matter, but the Garnet Gulls have built a strong resume to this point and finishing off a fourth sectional championship in five years would reignite the argument for the No. 1 spot.

3. Brick Memorial (22-7, 5-5) Last Week: 6

Through two rounds of the NJSIAA Tournament, Brick Memorial’s lineup has looked the part of a powerhouse. On top of robust production from the power bats in the top-half of the order, the bottom of the order is catching fire as well, particularly junior Michael Figner. Both Zach Pirnik and Brody Moore were sharp on the mound as well and the Mustangs head to Colts Neck Wednesday operating at 100 percent capacity as they try to return to the Central Group III final for the second straight year.

4. Red Bank Catholic (18-8, 8-2) Last Week: 4

The Caseys avoided ending the season with five straight losses by battling past St. John Vianney in the South Jersey Non-Public A semifinals to close out the week. Turnarounds happen with a first step and that is what RBC is hoping Thursday’s win over the Lancers proves to be as they prepare for a trip south to face second-seeded St. Augustine. Those two teams have a recent history of playing games that range from unusual to unforgettable and over the past five years, the teams have split their four state-tournament matchups, 2-2.

5. Rumson-Fair Haven (20-7, 11-1) Last Week: 1

Playing in two tournaments close together is typically a good problem to have, but every now and again, the season can get away from a team that loses a tough game, then has to play another tournament game within days. That happened to Rumson last week, when the Bulldogs lost to CBA, 12-0, in the Shore Conference Tournament final, then ran into a buzzsaw in Holmdel ace Jack Vallillo, who shut out Rumson, 1-0, in the first round of the Central Group II Tournament. Rumson’s season ends with 20 wins and with the Bulldogs winning the Class B North division, reaching the semifinals of the Monmouth County Tournament and the final of the SCT.

6. Ranney (13-11, 5-5) Last Week: 5

With a season split against Rumson, Ranney still has a case to climb into the top four of the Shore Conference rankings and three wins over CBA could still be a boost to the top spot should the Panthers knock off both Gloucester Catholic and Bishop Eustace on the way to winning the Non-Public B championship. With losses to both Point Beach and Red Bank Catholic (twice), it will take a win over the No. 2 team in the state (Gloucester Catholic) to re-ignite Ranney’s push for No. 1.

7. Colts Neck (20-9, 10-2) Last Week: 7

The Colts Neck bats have cooled off somewhat since its thrilling, eight-inning win at Howell in the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals. The Cougars have scored 16 runs in four games since and 10 of them came against Lakewood in the opening round of the Central Group III playoffs. On the brighter side, Ryan Spencer has been dominant in his recently-established role as relief ace backing up the starting tandem of Ryan Rude and Jack Dugo. If the Cougars can manufacture some early offense and get the ball to Spencer sometime in the fifth inning, it will be hard to beat them – even for a powerful offense like the one Brick Memorial will carry into Wednesday’s semifinal in Colts Neck.

8. Howell (14-13, 4-6) Last Week: 8

Heartbreaking endings to the Monmouth County Tournament in the final round and the Shore Conference Tournament in the quarterfinals were hard pills to swallow and the Rebels went out in the first round of the NJSIAA Tournament on their home field to end what was an impressive season under first-year head coach Miguel Arroyo. The final record was only one game above .500, but playing 11combined games vs. CBA, Red Bank Catholic, Ranney and Manalapan made Howell’s schedule one of the Shore’s toughest.

9. Toms River East (17-10, 6-4) Last Week: 9

Three of Toms River East’s unsung heroes of 2025 came up huge for the Raiders in Friday’s nine-inning, walk-off win over Shawnee. Lucas Melton started the tying rally in the seventh with a triple and won the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth after Jonathan Pallman pitched four strong relief innings after Liam Scallon fired five scoreless. Toms River East is now one win from a return trip to the South Jersey Group III final after winning it all last year behind a talented group of seniors, whom this year’s team has managed to replace while remaining a sectional title threat.

10. Wall (20-7, 6-4) Last Week: Not ranked

With the Crimson Knights reaching the 20-win mark and the semifinals of a loaded Group II section, they return to the Shore Top 10. The Wall pitchers have cruised through the first two rounds while John Catanio (three home runs) and Luke Dana have been on fire in the batter’s box. Allentown heads east on I-195 to play Wall for a spot in the Central Group II final and a Crimson Knights win will mean either a trip to play two-time defending Group II champion Governor Livingston or a home game vs. Robbinsville in the championship game.

Dropped Out

Manalapan (15-13, 5-5) Last Week: 10 – Friday’s loss at Hunterdon Central was an emotional one for Manalapan, which took a 7-4 lead on an Anthony Foti grand slam in the top of the sixth before the Red Devils scored eight runs in the bottom of the inning following a scary injury on the field.
