A breakout hitter for the Hawks in 2026, Rommel led all Shore Conference catchers with 13 doubles and finished fifth in slugging percentage among regular backstops at the Shore. Rommel helped Manchester maintain their reputation as a dangerous underdog in the state tournament when the Hawks beat Middle Township on the road, with Rommel going 3-for-4 with a double, triple, walk and an RBI to help lead the offensive attack.

A third-year starter for the Mustangs, Joy produced his best individual season in 2026. An outfielder up until this season, Joy blended extra-base power with speed, finishing fifth among Shore Conference first basemen in slugging percentage and first at the position in stolen bases as one of the 12 players in the conference with at least 20 swipes. The College of New Jersey commit was recognized by the Class C North division coaches as the division’s Hitter of the Year.

Younger brother Jake stole the All-Shore headlines as Howell’s Second Team catcher, but older brother Derek was quietly one of the most reliable hitters on one of the Shore’s deepest lineups. Derek Liotti was second on Howell behind his brother with a .354 batting average as well as 28 hits. During Howell’s deep runs in the Monmouth County and Shore Conference Tournaments, Howell’s third baseman hit .421 (8-for-19) with four RBI, including a pair of RBI in a 2-for-3 game against Red Bank Catholic in a Monmouth County Tournament semifinal win for the Rebels.

The only Howell hitter better than either of the Liotti brothers during the Rebels’ tournament runs was Quinn, who hit .474 (9-for-19) during the Monmouth County and Shore Conference Tournaments, which included a double and a triple. In that aforementioned win over RBC, Quinn was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI to help propel Howell to the MCT championship game for the first time in almost 60 years. Quinn also gave the Rebels valuable innings against some of the Shore’s top teams, with at least three innings in all six of his mound appearances.

The 2026 Shore Sports Insider Freshman of the Year began his high school career with a series of rough outings, then found his stuff when it counted. Abrams pitched complete games vs. Red Bank Catholic and Rumson-Fair Haven, the latter of which was a three-hit shutout to beat the Bulldogs in the Monmouth County Tournament semifinals. Of Abrams’s 43 innings, 32 2/3 came against teams that were either in the Shore Conference Top 10 (No. 6 Rumson-Fair Haven, No. 4 Red Bank Catholic, No. 3 CBA, No. 1 Point Beach and No. 10 Howell) or would have had a reasonable case had they been Shore Conference teams (Gloucester Catholic, Poly Prep and Pascack Valley).

Ostroman was among the candidates to assume the label of “ace” on the Toms River North pitching staff and through one month of the season, neither he nor any of his rotation mates seized the opportunity. From May on, however, Ostroman made it clear he was the Mariners’ big-game pitcher. He allowed one run or fewer in four of his five starts from May 1 through the end of the season, including a three-hit shutout of Point Beach in a 1-0 win over the No. 1 team in the Shore Sports insider Top 10. Ostroman finished his season allowing one run against Eastern in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV first round – a game the Mariners lost, 2-1, in nine innings.
