Shore Sports Insider is proud to partner with OIB Ortho this fall to present our weekly OIB Ortho Football Team of the Week Award, recognizing one Shore Conference program for its accomplishments on the field. The Week 0 recipient of the 2026 OIB Ortho/Joe Leone’s Football Team of the Week is St. John Vianney, following the Lancers’ thrilling 29-28 overtime victory over Cedar Creek.

St. John Vianney (1-0) built a 21-7 second-half lead behind junior quarterback Will Calcagno, who threw a pair of touchdown passes to junior wide receiver Noah Fitzpatrick and added a 21-yard scoring strike to sophomore Jaheim Worthy on fourth down.

After Calcagno left the game with an injury, junior Anthony Petracca stepped in at quarterback in his St. John Vianney debut. Cedar Creek rallied with two touchdowns to tie the game at 21 and eventually send it to overtime.

The Pirates scored first in OT, but the Lancers answered. Fitzpatrick battled through two defenders to haul in his third touchdown of the night, pulling SJV within a point.

Head coach Greg Penta then made the call to go for the win.

Petracca kept the ball on the two-point conversion and powered his way across the goal line, giving the Lancers a dramatic 29-28 victory.

Shore Sports Insider visited practice to recognize St. John Vianney as the Week 0 Team of the Week, presenting the Lancers with a commemorative game ball and a $500 Joe Leone’s gift card for a well-earned team pasta party.
