No. 10 Ocean 3, Central 1

Senior Nic Critelli scored five minutes into the match and capped the scoring midway through the second half to lead the Spartans (1-1) over the Golden Eagles (0-2) on the road.

Senior Connor Shaw extended Ocean’s lead to 2-0 in the 12th minute before Central chopped the deficit in half with a goal by freshman Nico Pasqualini in the 25th minute.

Monmouth 2, Raritan 0

Sophomore Emilio Hernandez created two goals in the first 10 minutes and freshman Iker Gomez secured his first varsity shutout in goal to lead the Falcons (1-1) over the Rockets (0-1).

Hernandez forced an own goal in the sixth minute and four minutes later, he officially scored his first varsity goal to push the lead to 2-0, which Gomez and the defense protected for the final 70 minutes.

Asbury Park 6, Keyport 0

Senior Brandon Joseph tallied a hat trick and the Blue Bishops (1-1) stormed past the Red Raiders (0-2) for their first win of the season.

Freshman Marvens Lazarre opened the scoring in the 10th minute with his first varsity goal before Joseph and junior Chris Torres each added a goal before halftime. Joseph scored his second two goals in the first 13 minutes of the second half off passes from seniors Adrian Sanchez Jimenez and Likerson Garius and senior Kain Perez Bautista ended the game with a goal in the 62nd minute off a pass from sophomore Orlando Perez.

Long Branch 3, St. Rose 0

Sophomore Rhandril Ruas broke open the scoring in the first half off a pass from senior Marco Volpe and the Green Wave (1-1) added two more goals in the second half to pull away with a win over the Purple Roses (1-1).

Senior Jordan Vieira bumped the lead to 2-0 with the first goal of the second half and senior Carlos Rodas capped the scoring by finishing off a pass from senior Pedro Piatto.

 

Non-Conference

LaSalle (Pa.) 3, No. 1 CBA 1

Junior Andrew Banchi buried a shot from the top of the box in the 65th minute to pull CBA within a goal, but the Colts (1-1) conceded one more in the 78th in a loss to LaSalle of Pa.

Jackson 3, Hamilton West 1

Senior Serhii Hryhoriak scored in the 11th and 72nd minutes to bookend the Jackson scoring and the Jaguars (3-0) won their third straight to open the season by handling the Hornets (0-1) on the road.

Hryhoriak one-timed a cross from freshman Mason Monday into the goal to open the scoring and in the 32nd, junior Yousef Abdelmalak ran down a punt from senior goalkeeper Logan Schlenk and finished for a 2-0 lead heading toward halftime.

In the 72nd, junior Anthony Materia played Hryhoriak through for the finish and a 3-0 Jackson lead.

Holmdel 1, South Plainfield 0

Noah Kravitz scored his first varsity goal off a pass from Yaseen Moustafa and the Hornets defense and goalkeeper Ryan Frigiola made it stand up in a shutout win for Holmdel (1-1) over the Tigers (0-1-1).

Red Bank 3, West Windsor-Plainsboro North 2 (OT)

Senior Brian Garcia set up the equalizer by classmate Abraham Perez in the 78th minute, then scored the golden goal on a free kick during the second overtime period to propel the Bucs (2-0) to a come-from-behind win over the Knights (0-3).

Perez knocked in Garcia’s cross with two minutes left in regulation to force overtime, which lasted into the second period before Garcia’s free kick ended it. Red Bank struck first in the first half on a 65-yard free kick by senior Andy Plazas that bounced over the head of the West Windsor North goalkeeper.

Ewing 7, Lakewood 1

Diego Ovalle scored five goals and the Blue Devils (2-0) coasted to a win over the Piners (1-1), who got on the scoreboard thanks to a second-half goal by Miguel Tehutle.
