Shore Conference Girls Soccer Week 5 Rankings presented by Playa Bowls

This season gets crazier and crazier each week that passes. A new team moves into the top spot for the first time this season after No.1 Toms River South and No. 2 Red Bank Catholic were handed their first defeats of the season. St. John Vianney becomes the second team this season to hold the No.1 spot and is one of two teams to remain undefeated in the Shore Conference.
1. St. John Vianney (8-0) Last Week: 5

With both of the top two teams in the SSI rankings losing last week and picking up their best win of the season, SJV moves up to the top spot. The Lancers are one of two teams left undefeated in the Shore Conference, the other being Ocean Township.
After beating ranked opponents Manasquan and Rumson-Fair Haven two weeks ago, the Lancers picked up their best win of the season against Gill St. Bernard’s in a non-conference game. Junior Kennedy Wallace scored a golden goal off an assist from Delilah Joyce to hand the No. 9 team in New Jersey their first loss of the season. Junior Lillie Lazzari made four saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season.
Earlier in the week, SJV beat division opponent Shore Regional 5-1. Wallace had a goal and two assists in the victory. Sophomore Kate Lavan had two assists and a goal while Gabby Parker scored two goals in the game.
SJV starts the week with two SCT Group games. On Monday, the Lancers travel to Matawan, and on Tuesday they host Colts Neck. SJV sits tied on top of Group 3 with Central with three points each. The Lancers will host Wall on Thursday in a Class A North game. Both teams sit 4-0 in the division. SJV beat Wall 1-0 last year on a second-half goal by Lily Fitzpatrick. SJV ends the week with a home game against No. 2 Point Boro.
2. Point Boro (6-1) Last Week: 4

The Panthers ended Toms River South’s dominance in the Shore Conference with a 1-0 victory last week, extending their win streak to six games. With the win, Point Boro, Central, and Toms River South are now tied for first place in Class A South. Junior Maddie Renna scored her 11th goal of the season, and Stella Stevenson made 10 saves to earn her second shutout.
Point Boro beat crosstown rival Point Beach earlier in the week 6-3. Renna scored four goals and assisted the two other goals from Grace Tansey and Megan Viggiano.
Point Boro hosts Long Branch in a SCT Pod game on Tuesday followed by a division game against Southern on Thursday. Point Boro is sitting in first place with a 2-0 record in SCT Group 9. For the second straight week, the Panthers will play the number one team in the Shore Conference. Point Boro will travel to No. 1 St. John Vianney on Saturday. A Panther victory will move them to the top spot in the SSI Rankings.
3. Toms River South (5-1) Last Week: 1

The Indians fell to division rival Point Boro last week in their only game to drop them two spots in the rankings. After going down 1-0 in the first half, TRS could not find the equalizer as they did against Central the previous week. TRS is currently tied for first in Class A South with Point Boro and Central.
TRS has three games this week starting with a SCT Group game on Tuesday against Shore at home. TRS is currently tied with Ocean and Trinity Hall with a 1-0 record in SCT Group 1. The Indians host crosstown rival Toms River East on Thursday in a division game. TRS won 2-0 last year against the Raiders. They end the week with another SCT Group game against Ocean. TRS will clinch an SCT spot if they win both of their group games this week.
4. Central (8-1) Last Week: 3

Central had a busy week, picking up three wins, two against ranked opponents. The Golden Eagles started the week with a 1-0 overtime win over Middletown North. Sophomore Leah VanHise scored her first career goal in the victory. Junior Gianna Lawrence made six saves in the shutout.
Central followed that with a 3-0 win over division opponent No. 8 Toms River East. Central had three different goal scorers, and Lawrence made four saves to earn her fifth shutout of the season.
The Golden Eagles scored two second-half goals to beat No. 6 Rumson-Fair Haven in a non-division game. Senior Leah DiCillo scored a goal and assisted another on a corner kick to Emma Boturla.
Central will host Matawan on Tuesday in a SCT Group game. Central is 1-0 with three points in SCT Group 3. The Golden Eagles host Lacey in a division game on Thursday. Central beat Lacey 4-0 last season in a division game.
5. Red Bank Catholic (7-1) Last Week: 2
The Caseys dropping three spots has more to do with other teams picking up big wins than with their loss to Middletown South last week. RBC started the week with a 3-0 division win over No. 6 Rumson. Senior Mia Cupo scored a hat trick, and Lexi Sinatra had two assists for RBC. Senior Heidi Wierman made eight saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season.
The Caseys were handed their first loss of the season against division rival Middletown South. The game was tied 1-1 going into the second overtime when the Eagles scored the golden goal. Senior Kaegan Houlihan scored her third goal of the season.
RBC has only one game this week: an SCT Group game against St. Rose. RBC sits 2-0 in SCT Group 7, while St. Rose is 1-0 with a win over Donovan Catholic.
6. Rumson-Fair Haven (5-3) Last Week: 6

Rumson had a busy week, going 1-2, falling to the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the Shore Conference. The Bulldogs started the week losing to No. 2 RBC 3-0 in a Class A North battle. That was the second straight game Rumson was shut out this season.
The Bulldogs rebounded with a 5-2 win over Manalapan. Rumson improved to 3-1 in A North and are tied with RBC with only one division loss. Senior Jordyn Sullivan scored four goals in the game and assisted the fifth goal by Summer O’Malley.
Rumson ended the week in a hard-fought 2-1 loss to No. 3 Central. Scoreless at halftime, Central scored two second-half goals to take a 2-0 lead. Sullivan scored in the final 90 seconds to cut the lead in half. That is her 13th goal of the season.
Rumson has a busy week with three games. This is also the last week Sullivan will be with the team before she returns from the U17 World Cup in Africa. The Bulldogs start the week at home against Ranney in a SCT Group game. A win by the Bulldogs can secure the top spot in SCT Group 6. Rumson travels to Toms River North on Wednesday in a non-divisional game. Rumson beat TRN 3-1 last season. The Bulldogs end the week playing No. 10 Freehold Township on Friday in a division game. The Patriots beat Rumson 2-1 the last time they met in 2024.
7. Trinity Hall (6-2) Last Week: 7
The Monarchs have won three straight since falling to Red Bank Catholic over a week ago. Trinity Hall picked up their first three points in SCT Group 1 with a 4-1 win over Toms River North. Sophomore Bette Kane scored two goals, and four different players had assists in the win.
Trinity Hall followed that with a 1-0 division win over No. 10 Freehold Township. It was the first time the Monarchs have defeated the Patriots in the school’s history. Freshman Quinn Khichi scored a first-half goal to win the game.
The Monarchs ended the week with a 4-1 non-division win over Freehold Boro. Khichi scored two goals in the game to give her four on the season. Kane had a career-high three assists in the game.
Trinity Hall will host Ocean on Tuesday in a SCT Group 1 game. Both teams are 1-0 in Group 1, tied with Toms River South. On Thursday the Monarchs host No. 8 Middletown South in a Class A South game. The Eagles beat Trinity Hall 2-1 back in 2024. Trinity Hall ends the week on the road against Mount St. Dominic in a non-conference game.
8. Middletown South (6-2) Last Week: Not Ranked

Middletown South is one of the hottest teams in the Shore Conference, winning four straight games, three against teams ranked at the time. The Eagles handed No. 2 RBC their first loss of the season in a double overtime battle. Freshman Ava Ernst’s first goal of her career was a golden goal for the Eagles. Junior Riley Kapler scored the game’s first goal for Middletown South.
The Eagles followed that with a 3-2 win over No. 9 Howell in their second division win of the week. Tied 1-1 at halftime, Middletown South scored two second-half goals. The Eagles had three different goal scorers with Delaney Finnegan scoring the game-winner with less than 10 minutes remaining.
Middletown South will host Neptune in a SCT Group 4 game. The Eagles are currently sitting in first place with a 2-0 record, while Neptune is 0-1. The Eagles will try to move further up the rankings when they travel to No. 7 Trinity Hall on Thursday in a Class A North game. Middletown South beat Trinity Hall back in 2024. The Eagles end the week at home against Old Bridge in a non-conference game.
9. Toms River East (5-2) Last Week: 8
The Raiders split their games last week after entering the rankings for the first time this season. TRE fell to division opponent No. 3 Central 3-0 to start the week. The loss put the Raiders at .500 with a 2-2 record in division play.
TRE rebounded with a 4-1 victory over Wall in a non-divisional game. Freshman Lily Gambaroney scored her first career hat trick, giving her a team-high eight goals on the season. Junior Brooklyn Chin scored her third goal of the season in the win.
The Raiders travel to Freehold Boro on Tuesday to play their second SCT Pod game. TRE is sitting three points behind Freehold Boro, which has two wins. This will be the first time these two teams play each other since 2019. TRE ends the week traveling crosstown to play No. 3 Toms River South. TRS beat TRE 2-0 last season.
10. Freehold Township (4-4) Last Week: 10

The Patriots split their games last week to remain .500 on the season. Freehold Township started the week falling to No. 7 Trinity Hall 1-0 in a defensive battle. The Patriots conceded a first-half goal and could not find the equalizer.
Freehold Township followed that with a 4-1 win over rival Manalapan to get back to .500 in Class A North. The Patriots scored four second-half goals, led by sophomore Morgan Notaro scoring a hat trick. Sophomore Adele Moy finished with a goal and two assists in the game.
Freehold Township hosts Brick Township in their first SCT Group game. The Patriots beat Brick Township 8-0 in 2024 in an SCT Group game. The Patriots end the week with a division game against No. 6 Rumson. Freehold Township won the last meeting in 2024, 2-1.
