OIB Ortho/Joe Leone’s Week 9 Shore Conference Football Team of the Week: Marlboro
Shore Sports Insider OIB Ortho/Joe Leone’s Team of the Week – Week 9
Shore Sports Insider is proud to partner with OIB Ortho this fall to present our weekly OIB Ortho Football Team of the Week Award, recognizing one Shore Conference program for its accomplishments on the field. We are also thrilled to welcome Joe Leone’s as a co-sponsor, providing a very generous $500 Pasta Party Gift Card each week to celebrate the winning team.
The Week 9 recipient of the 2026 OIB Ortho/Joe Leone’s Football Team of the Week is Marlboro, who kept their postseason dreams alive with a 21-8 victory over Steinert in the opening round of the state playoffs, advancing to the semifinals and improving to 7-3 on the season.
Senior running back Shaqur Richardson led the charge with a big-time performance, powering his way into the end zone for two rushing touchdowns to help fuel the Mustangs’ offense. Hudson Muhlbach added another touchdown run as Marlboro’s ground attack delivered all three scores in the playoff victory.
But it wasn’t just the offense making a statement. Marlboro’s defense rose to the occasion, holding Steinert to just eight points and shutting down the Spartans’ hopes of advancing. With a balanced effort on both sides of the football, the Mustangs showed they are ready for the challenges of postseason play.
The road only gets tougher from here as No. 4 Marlboro (7-3) travels to face top-seeded Shawnee in the state semifinals, with a trip to the sectional championship game on the line.
Shore Sports Insider stopped by practice to present the Marlboro team with a commemorative game ball and the $500 pasta party Joe Leone’s gift card.
Congratulations to Marlboro, the Week 9 OIB Ortho/Joe Leone’s Football Team of the Week!
