Previews

Manchester at Point Beach, Thursday at 7 p.m.

Point Beach enters Week 7 riding high after a dominant 41-6 victory over Keansburg that secured at least a share of its second consecutive Class C South championship. The Garnet Gulls (5-1) have been explosive on the ground, rushing for 1,533 yards and 22 touchdowns while averaging an impressive 8.7 yards per carry. Junior Tommy Aiosa leads the team with 518 yards and seven touchdowns, while junior Gage Boyle has added 466 yards and seven scores. Senior Danny Neal provides another dangerous option with 395 yards and six touchdowns. The trio has combined for 1,379 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns, presenting a difficult challenge for Manchester’s defense.

Manchester (2-5) enters the matchup looking to build momentum after a difficult start to the season. The Hawks’ offense revolves around junior quarterback Trevor Freyer, who leads the team in both passing and rushing. Freyer has completed 36 of 81 passes for 224 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while rushing for 463 yards and three touchdowns on 106 carries. He accounts for more than three-quarters of Manchester’s 603 rushing yards, making him the clear focal point of the Hawks’ offense. Point Beach will look to contain Freyer behind a defense led by junior Gage Boyle (60 tackles), junior Tommy Aiosa (11 tackles for loss) and sophomore Ethan Sulkowski (10 tackles for loss, six sacks).

With only two weeks remaining in the regular season, Point Beach will look to strengthen its position in the South Group 1 playoff race, while Manchester hopes to stack some wins together. The Garnet Gulls have a significant statistical advantage offensively, averaging 8.7 yards per rushing attempt compared to Manchester’s 3.2. Establishing the ground game early and limiting Freyer’s ability to make plays with his legs will be the keys for Point Beach as it looks to avoid a letdown following its division-clinching victory.

Pinelands at Barnegat, Friday at 6 p.m.

Pinelands enters Week 7 as one of the Shore Conference’s remaining undefeated teams, improving to 7-0 with a hard-fought 13-7 victory over Central Regional last week. The Wildcats have been dominant defensively, recording five shutouts in seven games and allowing just 13 points all season. Offensively, junior running back RJ Clark has been explosive, rushing for 714 yards and 14 touchdowns on just 78 carries, averaging 9.2 yards per attempt. Senior quarterback JJ Jenkins has provided balance, completing 48 of 73 passes for 742 yards and seven touchdowns without an interception, while adding 270 rushing yards. Senior wide receiver Anthony Bonds has emerged as his top target with 21 receptions for 469 yards and five touchdowns.

Barnegat (6-1) is looking to rebound from its first loss of the season, a 35-17 defeat to Monmouth that ended the Bengals’ undefeated start and cost them an opportunity to clinch a share of the Class D North title. The Bengals have relied on a productive rushing attack that has accumulated 1,110 yards and 18 touchdowns, led by junior Ryan Fitzpatrick (438 yards, six touchdowns) and senior Christopher Santero (282 yards, four touchdowns). Freshman quarterback Zach McCrohan has thrown for 300 yards and four touchdowns while adding 137 rushing yards and two scores. Defensively, senior linebacker Joshua Kawka leads the team with 44 tackles and five tackles for loss, while senior defensive lineman Nick Malinowski has recorded 29 tackles, seven tackles for loss and three sacks.

Pinelands enters as the favorite, but Barnegat has the offensive weapons to make this an interesting matchup. The Wildcats’ defense has been nearly impenetrable, led by junior linebacker Montrell Carter, who has recorded 72.5 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and two sacks, while junior Paul Veneri has added 58 tackles. Containing Barnegat’s rushing attack will be critical for the Wildcats, while the Bengals must find a way to slow down Clark and prevent Jenkins from connecting on explosive passing plays. With both teams looking to strengthen their playoff positioning, this matchup provides a significant test for a Pinelands team seeking to remain undefeated.

St. John Vianney at Brick, Friday at 6 p.m.

St. John Vianney enters Week 7 with a 2-5 record, but the Lancers’ difficult schedule in Class A North makes them the favorite against Brick (4-3). All five of SJV’s losses have come against ranked opponents in Donovan Catholic, Red Bank Catholic, Holmdel, Middletown North and Manalapan. The Lancers are coming off a narrow 32-29 defeat to Manalapan and have shown they can compete against quality opposition despite their record.

Junior quarterback Anthony Petracca has thrown for 411 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 301 yards and two scores. Junior Will Calcagno has added 297 passing yards and five touchdowns, while Noah Fitzpatrick leads the receiving corps with 24 catches for 283 yards and five touchdowns. Senior running back Lucas Farah has contributed 296 rushing yards.

Brick is coming off a 28-21 victory over Toms River East that snapped a two-game losing streak. The Green Dragons have relied heavily on their ground game, rushing for 1,064 yards and 11 touchdowns compared to just 245 passing yards. Senior Rowan Foy leads the rushing attack with 395 yards and three touchdowns, while junior Tyshawn Corbett has added 270 yards and two scores. Defensively, Rowan Foy leads the team with 78 tackles, while his brother, senior Cian Foy, has recorded 75 tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks.

Despite the difference in records, St. John Vianney’s experience against some of the Shore Conference’s strongest programs gives the Lancers an edge entering this matchup. Brick will look to establish its rushing attack and control the clock, particularly against an SJV defense led by junior Zach Silverman, who has recorded 65 tackles, and senior Isaiah Shade, who has added 32 tackles and seven tackles for loss. The Lancers will look to capitalize on their advantage in the passing game.

Keansburg at Monmouth, Friday at 6 p.m.

Monmouth enters Week 7 as a heavy favorite after improving to 7-0 with an impressive 35-17 victory over previously unbeaten Barnegat that secured at least a share of the Class D North championship, the Falcons’ first division title since 2021. Monmouth has been one of the Shore Conference’s most productive offensive teams, scoring at least 35 points in five of its seven victories. Junior quarterback Ryan Corwin has completed 56 of 108 passes for 855 yards and 12 touchdowns with just two interceptions, while adding 152 rushing yards and six scores. The Falcons also feature a dangerous backfield with freshman Conall Hicks (469 yards, three touchdowns) and junior Brandon Thompson (456 yards, six touchdowns). Junior Donovan Hicks leads the receiving corps with 19 catches for 293 yards and four touchdowns.

Keansburg (3-4) enters the matchup looking to rebound from a difficult 41-6 loss to Point Beach that ended its hopes of claiming the Class C South championship. The Titans opened the season with consecutive losses to Manville and Long Branch before responding with three straight victories over Freehold Boro, Lakewood and Keyport. However, back-to-back defeats to Manchester and Point Beach have halted that momentum. Keansburg has struggled defensively against stronger opponents, surrendering at least 29 points in four of its seven games, presenting a significant challenge against a Monmouth offense capable of attacking through both the air and on the ground.

Monmouth’s balanced offensive attack and defensive playmaking ability give the Falcons a significant advantage entering this matchup. Junior defensive lineman Ryan Fleury has recorded 12 tackles for loss, while junior Amari Roach has added 11 and senior Jaden Hall has nine. The Falcons have also forced 11 turnovers, including seven interceptions. Keansburg will need to limit explosive plays and sustain drives to keep Monmouth’s offense off the field, but the Falcons have demonstrated the ability to win in multiple ways, including a defensive battle against Brick and a high-scoring showdown with Barnegat. With an undefeated season and playoff positioning on the line, Monmouth will look to avoid a letdown against the Titans.

Lacey at New Egypt, Friday at 6 p.m.

New Egypt (4-3) enters Week 7 looking to build on a 48-34 victory over Keyport that snapped a two-game losing streak. The Warriors have relied heavily on junior quarterback Thomas Marabuto, who has thrown for 946 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for another 646 yards and nine scores. Marabuto has accounted for 17 touchdowns and is the focal point of an offense that has shown the ability to put up points in bunches. Junior wide receiver Joe Snyder has emerged as his favorite target, hauling in 35 receptions for 426 yards and four touchdowns, while senior Kaiden Grosso has added 13 catches for 138 yards.

Lacey (2-5) enters the matchup looking to snap a four-game losing streak after opening the season with two wins in its first three games. The Lions have struggled to generate consistent offensive production, scoring just 14 points over their last four contests. Senior quarterback Joe Geiger has completed 43 of 97 passes for 433 yardswhile sophomore running back Taven Santonasso leads the ground attack with 287 yards and two touchdowns on 64 carries. Senior wide receiver Strummer Caputo has been Lacey’s top receiving threat with 10 catches for 159 yards. Defensively, junior Brett Brewer leads the Lions with 44 tackles and nine tackles for loss, while junior Logan Gumbazz has recorded 30 tackles and eight tackles for loss.

New Egypt enters with a significant offensive advantage, averaging more than 265 yards per game compared to Lacey’s approximately 115. The Warriors will look to exploit that advantage behind Marabuto’s dual-threat ability, while the Lions will need to find a way to sustain drives. Lacey has demonstrated its ability to compete defensively, holding Pinelands to 13 points and shutting out both Lawrence and Toms River East, but its offense will need to produce more consistently to keep pace.

Matawan at Toms River East, Friday at 6 p.m.

Matawan enters Friday night’s matchup against Toms River East as the favorite, looking to extend its winning streak to three games after consecutive victories over Marlboro and Shore. The Huskies (3-4) have turned their season around following a four-game losing streak, defeating Marlboro 20-13 before knocking off Shore 26-10 last week. Toms River East (1-6), meanwhile, has dropped six straight games since opening the season with a victory.

Matawan’s offense is led by junior quarterback Blair Carter Gagneron, who has thrown for 1,175 yards and five touchdowns, with junior Cayson Williams is his favorite target with 44 receptions for 555 yards and three scores. Senior Kevin Auguste has added 244 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while junior Sean Euell leads the ground attack with 523 rushing yards and four scores. Defensively, Euell has recorded 61 tackles, while Auguste has contributed 56 tackles and five sacks, giving the Huskies several playmakers on both sides of the ball.

Toms River East has struggled to put together a complete performance during its six-game skid, although the Raiders showed some fight in last week’s 28-21 loss to Brick. The Raiders will look to build on that competitive showing and capitalize on their home-field advantage, but Matawan enters with momentum and a more balanced offensive attack. If the Huskies continue their recent improvement and avoid costly turnovers, they should be in a strong position to climb back to .500.

Toms River South at No. 7 Toms River North, Friday at 6 p.m.

Toms River North and Toms River South renew their annual “Civil War” rivalry Friday night, with both teams entering the matchup sporting identical 5-2 records. Despite the matching records, North is a heavy favorite after navigating a challenging Class A South schedule that has included victories over Point Boro, Jackson and Manalapan. The Mariners are looking to rebound from a 27-19 loss to Southern, while the Indians have won two straight against Colts Neck and Lacey.

North’s offense has relied heavily on its rushing attack, accumulating 1,716 yards and 17 touchdowns through seven games. Senior Lucas Elias leads the way with 676 yards and five touchdowns, while senior Wesley Tanner has added 609 yards and seven scores, including 410 yards over the past three games. The Mariners have been without senior quarterback and defensive back Cole Garrison and senior linebacker and tight end Jack Baker due to injuries, and their availability remains uncertain. Sophomore Frank Slaughter has stepped in as the primary passer at quarterback, while North’s defense features sophomore Finn Boland, who leads the team with 94 tackles and 16.5 tackles for loss. South counters with senior running back Kavon Metellus, who has rushed for 501 yards and 10 touchdowns, and junior quarterback Xavier Santiago, who has thrown for 851 yards and eight scores.

For South to pull off the upset, the Indians will need to establish Metellus on the ground and find ways to keep North’s physical rushing attack off the field. South’s defense has been opportunistic, recording 10 interceptions, including five from Hamza Hollingshead, but containing the Mariners’ multiple rushing threats presents a considerable challenge. North has faced a significantly tougher level of competition throughout the season, and its experience against some of the Shore Conference’s strongest programs should serve it well. Even with the uncertainty surrounding Garrison and Baker, the Mariners have the depth, physicality and defensive strength to enter the Civil War as overwhelming favorites.

No. 12 Manalapan at Central, Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Manalapan (3-4) enters Friday night’s matchup against Central (1-6) as a significant favorite after snapping a four-game losing streak with a 32-29 victory over St. John Vianney. The Braves have endured a challenging Class A North schedule, with three of their four losses coming by seven points or fewer against Wall, Rumson-Fair Haven and Toms River North.

Senior quarterback Cameron Desfosse leads Manalapan’s balanced offense with 948 passing yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions, along with 390 rushing yards and four scores. Senior running back Nick Palmieri has added 573 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, while senior Cooper Savage leads the receiving corps with 25 catches for 272 yards. Defensively, junior Chase Osmun has recorded a team-high 97 tackles.

Central has struggled offensively, scoring just 78 points in seven games. Senior running back JJ Twohig leads the Golden Eagles with 310 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Junior Gus Copes leads the defense with 59 tackles.

Manalapan’s offensive firepower and experience against stronger competition give the Braves a considerable advantage. Central has shown defensive improvement in recent weeks, holding Pinelands to 13 points, but will need to control possession and limit explosive plays to keep pace with a Manalapan offense averaging 27 points per game.

Freehold Township at Howell, Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Freehold Township (3-4) and Howell (3-3) meet Friday night in an evenly matched contest between two teams looking to strengthen their playoff positioning. The Patriots are coming off a 41-0 loss to Manasquan, while the Rebels suffered a 23-13 defeat against Marlboro. Both teams have shown flashes of offensive firepower, but consistency has been an issue throughout the season.

The biggest question for Freehold Township is the availability of senior quarterback Dakota Lasater, who suffered an injury against Shore and has missed the last two games. Lasater has thrown for 1,380 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 301 rushing yards and four scores. Sophomore Anthony Kokotis has filled in, throwing for 355 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Jake Schultzel leads the Patriots with 30 receptions for 573 yards and seven touchdowns, while senior Mikey Lorenzo has added 30 catches for 308 yards.

Howell counters with senior quarterback Connor Acker, who has completed 58 of 94 passes for 717 yards, nine touchdowns and just one interception. Senior running back Tim O’Rourke leads the ground attack with 438 yards and five touchdowns, while senior John Bertan has caught 16 passes for 353 yards. Senior Jackson Behn has also been a reliable target, hauling in 16 receptions and six touchdowns.

Lasater’s availability could be the deciding factor in a matchup between two evenly matched teams. Freehold Township has the potential to stretch the field with its talented receiving corps, while Howell will look to establish O’Rourke on the ground and capitalize on Acker’s efficiency through the air. With both teams seeking a critical late-season victory, limiting turnovers and finishing drives could make the difference.

No. 2 Red Bank Catholic at No. 1 Donovan Catholic, Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The Shore Conference’s top two ranked teams collide Friday night when No. 1 Donovan Catholic (7-0) hosts No. 2 Red Bank Catholic (5-2) in one of the most anticipated matchups of the regular season. The Griffins have dominated their competition, including convincing victories over Rumson-Fair Haven (51-13) and Point Boro (24-7) in consecutive weeks. The Caseys are coming off a thrilling 31-28 victory over Rumson-Fair Haven that clinched at least a share of the Class A North title. Beyond the No. 1 ranking, Friday’s showdown could serve as a preview of a potential rematch in the Non-Public B playoffs.

Donovan Catholic features one of the Shore Conference’s most explosive offenses, led by senior running back Alex Staten, who has rushed for 1,068 yards and 13 touchdowns on just 97 carries. Senior quarterback Kahden Davis has thrown for 1,116 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding five rushing scores. Senior wide receiver Aidan Kelly leads the Griffins with 33 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, senior linebacker Diondre Foendoe has recorded a team-high 73 tackles, while senior Sean Byrnes has contributed 66 tackles and 10 tackles for loss.

Red Bank Catholic counters with sophomore running back Gabe Kemp, who has rushed for a Shore Conference-leading 1,176 yards and 12 touchdowns on 169 carries. Sophomore quarterback Rahmir Rivera has thrown for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 259 rushing yards and three scores. Junior Jason Berecsky has caught 31 passes for 405 yards and five touchdowns, while Ethan Kennedy has added 21 receptions for 375 yards and four scores. The Caseys will need a strong defensive performance against a Donovan Catholic offense that has averaged more than 36 points per game.

Both teams possess dynamic rushing attacks and quarterbacks capable of making defenses pay through the air, setting up an intriguing battle between two of the Shore Conference’s most talented offenses. Donovan Catholic has been particularly dominant defensively, allowing just 53 points over the course of the season, while RBC has demonstrated its ability to compete in close contests against elite competition. With the Shore Conference’s top ranking at stake and a possible postseason rematch looming, Friday’s showdown carries significant implications beyond the final score.

Long Branch at Red Bank, Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Red Bank (3-3) enters Friday night’s matchup against Long Branch as a heavy favorite, looking to extend its winning streak to three games. After dropping three consecutive contests, the Bucs have rebounded with a 7-0 shutout of Howell and a 28-20 comeback victory over Neptune. Long Branch has struggled throughout the season, while Red Bank has an opportunity to climb above .500 and strengthen its playoff positioning.

Senior quarterback Brett Laude leads the Bucs’ offense, completing 64 of 104 passes for 643 yards and six touchdowns. Senior Kaden Jackson has been his top target with 20 receptions for 252 yards, while senior Ahmare Bonus has added 14 catches for 141 yards. Senior running back Joe Henry leads the ground attack with 302 yards and a touchdown, while also contributing 103 receiving yards and two scores.

Defensively, Red Bank has been led by junior Colton Hughes, who has recorded a team-high 66 tackles, while senior Nate Borenius has contributed 57 tackles and two interceptions. The Bucs have demonstrated their ability to win low-scoring contests, holding Howell scoreless and limiting Shore to seven points in their season opener.

Red Bank will look to establish control early against a Long Branch team seeking to turn its season around. The Bucs have momentum following consecutive victories and should have the advantage if they can protect the football and maintain their recent defensive form. A third straight win would put Red Bank in a stronger position in the playoff picture heading into the final week of the regular season.

No. 11 Middletown South at Marlboro, Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Middletown South (3-3) enters Friday night’s matchup against Marlboro (5-2) as the favorite despite the Mustangs’ superior record. The Eagles have faced a challenging schedule competing in Class B North. Marlboro is coming off a 23-13 victory over Howell but has struggled against stronger competition, going 0-2 in its matchups against Class A North and Class B North opponents.

Senior running back Justin Rosato leads Middletown South’s offense with 657 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 107 carries. Senior quarterback Jack Schneider has completed 58 of 86 passes for 761 yards and five touchdowns, with senior Owen Maguire emerging as his top target with 22 receptions for 297 yards. Rosato has also been a defensive standout with 43 tackles, six tackles for loss and an interception.

Marlboro has demonstrated its offensive capabilities throughout the season, particularly in victories over Ocean (34-24), Raritan (37-30) and Howell (23-13). Senior quarterback Nick Dimino leads the Mustangs’ offense, while the team has shown an ability to win high-scoring contests.

The matchup presents an opportunity for Middletown South to return to the win column and strengthen its playoff positioning, while Marlboro looks to prove it can compete against a team from one of the Shore Conference’s stronger divisions. Establishing Rosato and controlling the line of scrimmage will be priorities for the Eagles, while the Mustangs will need to generate offensive consistency against a Middletown South defense that has allowed just 36 points over its last three games.

No. 3 Brick Memorial at No. 4 Rumson-Fair Haven, Friday at 7 p.m.

One of the Shore Conference’s biggest public-school matchups of the season takes place Friday night when Brick Memorial (6-1) travels to Rumson-Fair Haven (5-2). The Mustangs have won four straight games, including impressive victories over Toms River North, Point Boro and Jackson, while the Bulldogs are looking to rebound from consecutive losses to No. 1 Donovan Catholic and No. 2 Red Bank Catholic. With both teams among the Shore Conference’s top public-school programs, the winner will enter the final week of the regular season as the highest-ranked public school in the Shore Sports Insider rankings.

Brick Memorial features a balanced offense led by senior quarterback Tyler Pierce, who has completed 65 of 91 passes for 988 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 423 rushing yards and four scores. Senior running back Colin Schoellkopf has rushed for 787 yards and seven touchdowns, while senior tight end Joe Livio leads the Mustangs with 266 receiving yards. Brick Memorial’s defense has also been impressive, allowing just 55 points during its four-game winning streak.

Rumson-Fair Haven counters with one of the Shore Conference’s most productive passing attacks, led by junior quarterback Brady Williams, who has thrown for 1,709 yards, 14 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Senior Cole Spoonire leads the Bulldogs with 39 receptions for 628 yards and four touchdowns, while junior Michael Capra has added 39 catches for 443 yards. Senior running back Ryder Izzo has rushed for 575 yards and six touchdowns, while Williams has contributed 416 rushing yards and nine scores.

The matchup presents an intriguing matchup between two teams with formidable running and passing games. The Mustangs will need to limit explosive passing plays and generate pressure on Williams, while the Bulldogs must contain Pierce’s dual-threat ability and prevent Schoellkopf from controlling the game on the ground. With both teams seeking a statement victory ahead of the postseason, Friday’s showdown could have significant implications for the Shore Conference’s public-school pecking order.

Raritan at No. 10 Holmdel, Friday at 7 p.m.

Holmdel (4-3) enters Friday night’s matchup against Raritan (4-3) as a significant favorite in a battle of contrasting offensive styles. The Hornets have faced a challenging Class A North schedule and are coming off a narrow 14-13 loss to Wall after shutting out Middletown South, 12-0. Raritan is looking to rebound from a 31-28 loss to Ocean.

Sophomore quarterback Tommy Fletcher leads Holmdel’s no-huddle spread offense, throwing for 1,131 yards and 11 touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Anthony Serini has been his primary target with 32 receptions for 568 yards and five touchdowns, while sophomore Charles Murphy has added 18 catches for 295 yards and four scores. Senior Michael Todisco provides another versatile weapon, contributing 269 rushing yards and five touchdowns along with 229 receiving yards.

Raritan counters with a ground attack that has accumulated 1,637 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns. Senior running back Eric Berg leads the Rockets with 608 yards and nine touchdowns, while senior quarterback Parker Needham has rushed for 395 yards and six scores in addition to throwing for 676 yards and six touchdowns. Senior Marko Brown has contributed 362 rushing yards, giving Raritan multiple options in its ball-control offense.

The biggest question will be whether Raritan can sustain long drives and limit Holmdel’s offensive possessions. The Rockets’ pistol flexbone attack presents a unique challenge, but the Hornets possess a considerable advantage through the air and can score quickly with their up-tempo approach. If Holmdel establishes an early lead and forces Raritan away from its preferred ground game, the Rockets could struggle to keep pace.

Jackson at No. 8 Wall, Friday at 7 p.m.

Wall will look to build on the momentum of a narrow victory over Holmdel when it hosts Jackson Township on Friday night. The Crimson Knights (3-3) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 14-13 win over the Hornets last week and have played in four games decided by five points or fewer this season. Jackson (2-5), meanwhile, has dropped five straight games after opening the season with victories over Ocean and Toms River South. The Jaguars have faced a difficult Class A South schedule.

Wall’s offense has been led by junior running back Michael Boulard, who has rushed for 731 yards and eight touchdowns on 135 carries. Senior quarterback Franny Scaramellino has completed 49 of 79 passes for 529 yards and three touchdowns while adding 155 yards on the ground. Senior John Partusch leads the Crimson Knights with 151 receiving yards, while junior Jasyi Medler has contributed 117 yards on 14 receptions. Wall has totaled 1,004 rushing yards and 529 passing yards, giving the Crimson Knights a balanced attack capable of challenging Jackson’s defense.

Jackson has relied heavily on its rushing attack, totaling 915 yards and six touchdowns on the ground compared to just 237 passing yards. Senior Farrin Blake leads the Jaguars with 374 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while sophomore Brayden Ramos has added 337 yards and a touchdown on just 41 carries, averaging 8.2 yards per attempt. Defensively, Jackson has recorded 33 tackles for loss, with senior Gavin Dill contributing eight. The Jaguars will need their defense to slow Boulard and force Wall into passing situations to have an opportunity to pull off the road victory.

Despite the difference in records, Jackson’s demanding Class A South schedule makes the Jaguars a potentially dangerous opponent. Wall has scored under 15 points in each of the last four games, while Jackson has surrendered at least 21 points in each of its five consecutive losses. Wall enters as the favorite, but Jackson’s ability to control possession with its ground game could make this a competitive matchup.

No. 5 Southern at No. 6 Middletown North, Friday at 7 p.m.

Southern (6-1) has won two straight since its lone loss to Donovan Catholic, including a 27-19 victory over Toms River North last week. The fifth-ranked Rams have scored at least 21 points in five of their six games (not counting their forfeit win over Belmont Charter), while sixth-ranked Middletown North (5-0) has allowed just 52 points all season. The Lions are coming off a 27-6 victory over St. John Vianney and have held three opponents to six points apiece.

Southern features a balanced offense led by senior quarterback Carson Abbato, who has thrown for 1,211 yards and nine touchdowns with just one interception. Senior Chris Raub leads the Rams with 482 receiving yards and six touchdowns, while senior Levi Foote has rushed for 528 yards and six scores on just 52 carries, averaging 10.2 yards per attempt.

Middletown North counters with junior quarterback Derek Grasso, who has thrown for 931 yards and seven touchdowns. Senior running back Matthew Belenko has rushed for 506 yards and seven scores, while senior Danny Sigler (384 yards, four touchdowns) and junior Anthony Christiani (377 yards, three touchdowns) provide explosive receiving options.

Both teams feature productive offenses, but Middletown North’s defense has been particularly impressive, allowing just 10.4 points per game. Senior Kade Little leads the Lions with 44 tackles, while Southern’s defense features junior Niko Iliescu, who has registered 70 tackles. Southern’s ability to establish Foote on the ground against the Lions’ defense could be a deciding factor in a matchup between two of the Shore Conference’s top six teams.

No. 9 Point Boro at Ocean, Friday at 7 p.m.

Point Boro (3-4) enters as a heavy favorite despite having a worse record than Ocean (5-2), largely because of the demanding Class A South schedule the Panthers have faced. All four of Point Boro’s losses have come against Class A South opponents in Toms River North, Southern, Brick Memorial and Donovan Catholic, with three decided by seven points. Ocean has won three straight games, including a 31-28 victory over Raritan last week, but will face a significant challenge against the battle-tested Panthers.

Point Boro’s triple-option flexbone offense has produced 1,386 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, led by senior quarterback Jake Clayton, who has rushed for 611 yards and eight scores on 119 carries. Clayton has also thrown for 235 yards and four touchdowns, while senior Dylan Comstock leads the Panthers with 193 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The Panthers have several additional rushing threats, including freshman Gio DiMatteo (170 yards), sophomore Owen Hart (157 yards) and sophomore Julius Reaves (151 yards).

Ocean counters with a productive rushing attack led by senior quarterback Jake Garrett, who has rushed for 504 yards and nine touchdowns while throwing for another 504 yards and four scores. Sophomore Brayln Thompson has added 396 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, while senior Justin Farina leads the Spartans with 196 receiving yards and two scores. Ocean has averaged 31.8 points per game, scoring at least 30 points in five of its seven contests.

The biggest challenge for Ocean will be defending Point Boro’s disciplined triple-option attack, which forces opponents to account for multiple rushing threats on every play. The Spartans have allowed 28 points in two of their last three victories, while Point Boro has held its own against several of the Shore Conference’s top teams.

Freehold Boro at Colts Neck, Saturday at 11 a.m.

A dominant 35-0 victory over Manchester last week helped Colts Neck (3-4) return to the win column following consecutive losses to Barnegat and Toms River South. The Cougars have posted two shutouts this season and will look to build on that defensive success against Freehold Boro (1-6). The Colonials are also coming off a victory, defeating Lakewood 36-8 for their first win of the season after allowing at least 27 points in each of their first six contests.

Colts Neck has found most of its offensive success on the ground, rushing for 939 yards and 17 touchdowns. Sophomore Trevor Baum has accounted for 468 yards and nine touchdowns, while junior Mike Arminante has contributed 301 yards and five scores. Junior quarterback Chace Staback has added 355 passing yards and three touchdowns, with senior Alex Policastro leading the receiving corps with 150 yards and two scores.

Freehold Boro has leaned on its passing game, with sophomore quarterback Adrian KrKuti throwing for 798 yards and six touchdowns against seven interceptions. Senior Michael Tracey has caught 13 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns, while junior Prince Taylor has contributed 157 yards and two scores. The Colonials have managed just 198 rushing yards through seven games, limiting their ability to establish a balanced offensive attack.

The matchup presents an opportunity for Colts Neck to capitalize on a Freehold Boro defense surrendering 34.7 points per game. The Cougars’ rushing combination of Baum and Arminante could prove difficult for the Colonials to contain. Colts Neck holds a significant advantage on paper, although both teams will be looking to build on victories from the previous week.

Asbury Park at Lakewood, Saturday at Noon

After opening the season with five consecutive losses, Asbury Park (2-5) appears to be turning the corner with back-to-back victories over Keyport and Long Branch. The Blue Bishops shut out Keyport 19-0 before defeating Long Branch 24-13 last week, giving them some much-needed momentum. Winless Lakewood (0-7), meanwhile, has endured a difficult season, suffering three shutout losses and allowing at least 31 points in every contest.

Asbury Park’s offense has relied primarily on sophomore Kevan Crawford, who has rushed for 444 yards and three touchdowns on 74 carries. Junior Cameron Beradesco has added 212 rushing yards and two scores while leading the receiving corps with 202 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore Braylon Johnson has contributed 221 passing yards and three touchdowns, giving the Blue Bishops another option offensively.

The Blue Bishops have also shown considerable improvement defensively, allowing just 13 combined points over their last two games after surrendering at least 27 in each of their first five. Lakewood has struggled to generate consistent offense, scoring just 34 points through seven games, including eight in last week’s loss to Freehold Boro.

Asbury Park enters as the favorite with an opportunity to extend its winning streak to three games. The Blue Bishops will look to continue their recent defensive success while establishing Crawford on the ground against a Lakewood team still searching for its first victory. A third consecutive win would provide further evidence of Asbury Park’s progress following its difficult start to the season.

Shore at Keyport, Saturday at Noon

Shore (2-4) enters as a heavy favorite despite its losing record, having spent the season competing against significantly larger schools in Class B North. Keyport (1-5), meanwhile, has dropped four straight games since defeating Lakewood, including a 48-34 loss to New Egypt last week.

Senior running back Cole Torres has been the focal point of Shore’s offense, rushing for 698 yards and six touchdowns on 129 carries. Senior quarterback Logan Clark has completed 50 of 72 passes for 521 yards and three touchdowns while adding 128 rushing yards and two scores. Senior Anthony Luque leads the Blue Devils with 123 receiving yards, while senior Mikael Flemming has contributed 110 yards and a touchdown.

Keyport has shown the ability to move the ball through the air, with senior quarterback Marshall Collangelo throwing for 625 yards and eight touchdowns. Senior Chris Herrara leads the receiving corps with 205 yards and two touchdowns, while senior John Dane has added 178 yards and three scores. Senior running back Jermaine Finch has rushed for 313 yards and four touchdowns, giving the Red Raiders another offensive option.

Neptune at Manasquan, Saturday at 1 p.m.

Manasquan (3-3) snapped a two-game losing streak with a convincing 41-0 victory over Freehold Township last week and enters as a heavy favorite against Neptune (1-6). The Warriors have faced a challenging Class B North schedule, with narrow losses to undefeated Middletown North and Middletown South. Neptune, meanwhile, has dropped five straight games since defeating Asbury Park, although the Scarlet Fliers have been competitive in recent losses to Ocean, Red Bank and Marlboro.

Senior running back Dax Klein has been the driving force behind Manasquan’s offense, rushing for 686 yards and eight touchdowns on 123 carries. Senior quarterback Kyle Dow has thrown for 404 yards and five touchdowns without an interception, but injuries have limited his availability, and his status remains uncertain from week to week. Junior Connor Lalli leads the Warriors with 294 receiving yards and four touchdowns, while junior Wyatt Sowul has contributed 124 rushing yards and two scores.

Despite its struggles in the win column, Neptune has generated considerable offensive production behind senior quarterback Caleb Brown, who has thrown for 1,017 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for another 575 yards and six scores. Senior Jason Whittaker has emerged as his primary target with 431 receiving yards and four touchdowns, while Hassin McMillian has added 266 receiving yards and three scores. The Scarlet Fliers have totaled 2,269 yards of offense but have struggled with turnovers, throwing 11 interceptions.

Manasquan’s ability to establish Klein on the ground could be the deciding factor against a Neptune defense that has surrendered at least 24 points in every loss. The Scarlet Fliers possess enough offensive weapons to challenge the Warriors, but their defensive struggles and turnover issues have made it difficult to close out games.
