Junior quarterback Jason Lajara accounted for five touchdowns as the Mustangs (3-0, 1-0) built a 27-0 halftime lead and rolled to a victory over the Rebels (1-1, 0-1) that gave head coach Walt Currie his 100th career win.

Lajara ran for two touchdowns, threw two touchdown passes to sophomore Shawn Fowler and tossed another to junior wideout Nyzier Matthews. He completed 9 of 14 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 113 yards and two scores on 12 carries. Fowler had three catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns, Matthews caught two passes for 67 yards and a touchdown and senior running back Kevin Andrews ran for 61 yards on 12 carries. Fowler also had an interception on defense to complete his breakout game.

Senior linebacker A.J. Ehrmantraut and junior rover Eric Pedre made a team-high eight tackles each and junior linebacker Trey Tallmadge had seven tackles with two tackles for loss to lead a defense that held down a Rebels offense that scored 42 points in Week 1.
