Coaches Cup Quarterfinals

1-Brick Memorial 5, 8-Toms River South 3

Junior attackman Nick Correia scored a goal and assisted on another to become the program’s all-time leading scorer, while senior goalie Matt Hillin made 19 saves to lead the Mustangs (9-6) past the Indians (5-10) and into the Coaches Cup semifinals.

Correia now has 162 points to pass Darren Romaine as Brick Memorial’s career leader. Senior attackman Austin Edwards scored twice, and junior midfielder Justin Karlbon and freshman midfielder Colin Fanning each scored once.

Brick Memorial will host fourth-seeded Colts Neck in the semifinals.

 

6-Toms River North 8, 3-Ocean 3

Senior midfielders Robert Wingender and Ben Misa each scored twice and senior goalie Charlie Machamer made 17 saves to lead the Mariners (11-5) into the semifinals with a victory over the Spartans (7-6).

Senior attackman Anthony Montalban and senior midfielder Cooper Lachowicz both had a goal and an assist. Midfielder Jackson Tresch scored his first varsity goal and junior Patrick Hirtes also scored once.

Toms River North will host seventh-seeded Marlboro in the semifinals.

Barnegat 11, Jackson Memorial 5

Senior midfielder Bailey Carroll and junior midfielder Keagan Dunn each scored five goals to power the Bengals (15-2) to a victory over the Jaguars (1-14).

Senior attackman Jakob Jason added a goal and an assist and senior midfielder Luke Tortorici provided three assists. Junior FOGO Eric Connors won 15 of 20 face-offs, junior pole Cedryk Diola picked up a career-high 15 ground balls, and junior goalie DJ Swierk made nine saves.

Junior Joe Muzzillo had three goals and one assist and junior goalie Max Nagy made a career-high 21 saves to lead Jackson. Senior David Walter and sophomore Dominik Bylecki each scored once.

 

Point Boro 15, New Egypt 1

Senior attackman Brady Kirk returned from an injury to score five goals and assist on another, while junior Nick Prendeville recorded a career-high four goals and six points to lead the Panthers (8-8) to a win over the Warriors (5-8).

Kirk, a returning First Team All-Shore selection who is signed to Marist University, missed the previous eight games with an injury.

Sophomore midfielder Blake Engelken added two goals and two assists and senior midfielder Jason Piemonte had a goal and an assist. Junior defenseman Landon Neris scored his first career goal, while sophomore Matt Prendeville and senior midfielder Andrew Michigan each scored once. Junior goalies Jack Watson (3 saves) and Jayden Borngesser (3 saves) each saw time between the pipes.

 

Nonconference

Southern 19, Holy Spirit 1

Sophomore Shea O’Donnell scored a career-high six goals and distributed two assists as the Rams (11-4) rolled over the Spartans (7-7).

Senior Liam Griffin scored four goals and added one assist, while sophomore midfielder Kyle Sininsky netted a hat trick and registered a career-high six assists to reach 100 career points. Senior FOGO Collin Markoski won 17 of 23 faceoffs to record his 700th career face-off win and pass 2018 graduate Anthony Firmani as the program’s all-time leader.

Sophomore Cash McVey added a hat trick of his own and distributed three assists, freshman Niko Iliescu scored two goals and dished out two assists, senior Joe Kessler added a goal and two assists, and senior Ryan Paliga recorded his first career assist.
