6-Wall 18, 11-Middletown South 4

Junior midfielder Patrick Freud scored a career-high five goals and assisted on two more as the Crimson Knights (7-9) delivered an authoritative victory over the Eagles (9-8) to advance to the SCT quarterfinals.

During the regular season, Middletown South upset Wall, 13-12, on April 4. The Crimson Knights won the rematch in emphatic fashion thanks to six players recording multiple points when they built a 13-2 halftime lead.

Senior attackman Jackson Lemongelli and junior attackman Wyatt Capro each tallied three goals and two assists and senior goalie Braeden Buckley made eight saves. Senior midfielder Michael Hoarle and senior attackman Owen Moore had two goals and one assist each and sophomore attackman Parker Quinn had a goal and an assist. Junior midfielder Dylan Cohen and freshman attackman Declan Freud had scored one goal apiece.

Leo Abate scored twice, Luke Gaffney scored once, and Matt Mason made seven saves for Middletown South.

Wall will play at third-seeded CBA on Thursday.

 

Coaches Cup

Semifinals

1-Brick Memorial 6, 4-Colts Neck 5

Senior attackman Austin Edwards recorded a hat trick and senior goalie Matt Hillin made 15 saves, including a point-blank stop with under 30 seconds left, as the Mustangs (10-6) held on to win a thriller over the Cougars (8-9) and reach the Coaches Cup championship game.

Junior midfielder Justin Karlbon scored twice and senior attackman Matt Malanga scored once. Junior attackman Nick Correia and freshman midfielder Colin Fanning sent out two assists.

Brick Memorial will host Toms River North in the Coaches Cup final on Friday.

 

6-Toms River North 10, 7-Marlboro 7

Senior attackman Anthony Montalban scored twice and assisted on two more, and senior goalie Charlie Machamer made 12 saves to lead the Mariners (12-5) past the Mustangs (10-4) and into the Coaches Cup championship game.

Toms River North utilized a balanced scoring effort with senior midfielders Robert Wingender and Ben Misa, and junior Michael Facchinni each scoring twice. Junior Patrick Hirtes had a goal and an assist and senior midfielder Cooper Lachowicz scored once.

Toms River North will play at top-seeded Brick Memorial in the Coaches Cup final on Friday.

Edison 7, Central 5

Junior attackman Jake Agugliaro scored twice and senior goalie Brady Etzkorn made 15 saves for the Golden Eagles (8-5) in their loss to Edison (6-10).

Tucker Powderly, Matthew Denman and Tristan Rodriguez each scored once.

Edison senior goalie Alexis Gonzalez was credited with a whopping 30 saves and junior midfielder Braydon Grier notched a hat trick.
