The Bulldogs (19-4) rallied from a 7-2 deficit to force overtime and defeat the Lakers (12-9) to win their 4th state championship, the most of any Shore Conference program. Sophomore Chloe Kelly scored a career-high 5 goals including the game-winning shot in double overtime. Senior Rachel James scored 4 goals in the final game of her stellar career. Sophomore Aly Megaw also added a crucial goal. Senior Mia Milkowski did a remarkable job facilitating as she finished with 3 assists. Sophomore goalie Sydney Kiernan recorded 6 saves in the victory for the Bulldogs.
Rumson’s championship was their first since 2023 when they also defeated Mountain Lakes. The Bulldogs will graduate an exceptional senior class including James (326 points), Daisen Iwan (237 career points), Milkowski (218 career points), Kendall Carcaterra (110 career points), Kat O’Connor (98 career points), defender Logan Davis, and more. They will return high-end talent including Kelly, Megaw, Kiernan, defender Chase Memmott, and more that will seek to repeat with a second straight state championship.
