Red Bank Catholic 3, Long Branch 2

Junior Cathel McStravick supplied a hat trick and scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute to give the Caseys (3-0) a win over the Green Wave (3-3) that extended their season-opening winning streak to three.

McStravick scored two minutes into the match and gave RBC the lead for good with a goal in the 31st minute, as Luke Horwath and Brian O’Hare provided the assists. Jack Denver set up McStravick’s goal in the 78th minute, which made the score 3-1.

Senior Marco Volpe scored an equalizer for Long Branch in the 29th minute and assisted a goal by classmate Carlos Rodas in the 79th.

Asbury Park 1, Manchester 1

Manchester junior Cole Sarama and Asbury Park junior Yoexsi Nicolas-Ortiz traded second-half goals and the Hawks (2-2-1) and Blue Bishops (1-3-1) settled on a draw after 20 minutes of scoreless extra time.

No. 9 Manasquan 3, No. 4 Middletown South 0

First-half goals by senior Maceo Manno and junior Jack Walther got Manasquan started and junior Noah Matusch added an insurance score in the second half to help the Warriors (4-1) seal a statement win over the defending Shore Conference Tournament champion Eagles (2-2).

Manno scored on a penalty kick to open the scoring and Walther buried a free kick to extend the lead to two goals.

Point Boro 4, Middletown North 2

Senior Nico Veni scored in the first minute and assisted the second of two goals scored by junior Jameson Mahon, which broke a tie in the 68th minute and sent the Panthers (1-3) to a road win over the Lions (1-3).

After Veni opened the scoring, Mahon extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal in the ninth minute off a pass from junior Colin Leschinski. Middletown North rallied with two goals by senior Ryan Otero early in the second half.

Sophomore Colton Griffin assisted Veni’s quick strike to open the game and also added a goal in the 73rd minute to close out the win.

No. 1 CBA 4, No. 8 Toms River North 3

Senior John Little assisted two goals and scored the last of CBA’s four goals in 22 minutes that helped the Colts (4-1-1) flip a two-goal deficit into a wild road win over the Mariners (2-3).

Toms River North went ahead, 2-0, in the 45th minute on a header by senior Manuele Lubrano off a cross from classmate Reiley Woodman, which came after senior Chris Ruggiero scored in the 13th minute off a Michael Greene feed to stake the Mariners to a 1-0 lead that the hosts would carry into halftime.

In the 53rd, CBA finally broke through with a tap-in by senior Matt Papagni on an initial shot by classmate Alex Alvarez. Prior to CBA’s first goal, the Colts came up empty on four open shots in the first half that missed the target, plus a close-range save by Mariners goalkeeper Gavin Stryker in each half.

CBA tied the game 4:34 after scoring its first goal, with senior Justin Arias ripping a shot inside the near left post after a throw-in by Little. The Colts nearly took the lead in the 64th, but Toms River North senior Luca Symons cleared a shot off the end-line after Stryker came off his line.

In the 70th minute, senior Liam Wheeler gathered a throw-in from Little, warded off a pair of defenders and buried a deflected shot from near the top of the six-yard box for a 3-2 Colts lead.

Little added to the scoring in the 75th with another near-post strike from the left side, giving CBA its fourth unanswered goal in a 22-minute span.

Woodman pulled Toms River North within a goal by slamming in a deflected pass to the left post by senior Joey Nagle.

New Egypt 6, Ocean Academy Charter 0

Freshman Henry Schorr scored two goals and assisted another while classmate Cole Regner also added his first varsity goal in a Warriors (2-2) rout of Ocean Academy Charter (0-1). Seniors Wyatt Burgess and Pablo Milan each tallied a goal and an assist and fellow senior Corby Johnson also finished a goal for New Egypt.

Hamilton West 5, Lakewood 1

Senior Miguel Tehutle scored off a pass from junior Johan Rodriguez, but the second-half score was all the Piners (1-4) could produce in a loss to the Hornets (1-2).
