Sophomore Jack Gillen broke a scoreless deadlock in the 50th and older brother Brady Gillen assisted an insurance goal by senior Sam Los to pace the Raiders (2-0, 1-0) to a win over the Rams (0-1, 0-1).
Gillen won a long pass into the right side of the box from junior Jose Sanchez and ripped a low shot into the far left side netting for a 1-o Toms River East lead in the 50th minute.
In the 73rd, sophomore goalkeeper Mike Peck made a diving save on a shot by Southern junior George Katsianis to preserve the one-goal lead. Four minutes later, Brady Gillen launched a long throw-in to the middle of the 18-yard box and it bounced to the far-right side of the field, where Los gathered it before nailing a shot to the far corner for the Raiders’ second goal.

Barnegat 4, Long Branch 3
Senior Nate Scisco scored two goals and assisted two others as the Bengals (2-0) held off a furious comeback by the Green Wave (1-2) to secure their second straight win to open the season.
Scisco scored his second and third goals of the first two Barnegat games and set up goals by junior Ethan Salazar and senior Nelson Argueta-Cedillos that built up a 4-0 for the Bengals. Long Branch stormed back to within one behind goals from senior Jordan Vieira, senior Pedro Dias and junior Gefran Rodriguez, with Vieira also assisting the goal by Rodriguez that pulled the Green Wave within 4-3.
Rumson-Fair Haven 5, Neptune 1
Senior Kyle Winig, sophomore Leeam Goldstein and senior Avery Bellincampi scored three goals six minutes apart during the final 10 minutes of the first half and the Bulldogs (1-1-1) finished off the Scarlet Fliers (1-1) for their first win of the season.
Winig opened the scoring in the 30th minute off a pass from Goldstein and Goldstein delivered the first of his two goals in the game just two minutes after Winig’s strike. Bellincampi assisted the first-half goal by Goldstein, then buried Rumson’s third goal in the 36th minute off the second assist of the half by Goldstein.
Senior Cristian Santos scored the fourth Bulldogs goal and Goldstein capped the scoring off a pass from senior Frank Gripp.
Junior D.J. Green got Neptune on the board with a first-half goal off an assist from senior Mason Imbriaco, which cut the Rumson lead to 3-1 in the final minute of the first half.
Matawan 3, St. John Vianney 1
Senior Nicco Romero scored two goals, including the tie-breaking score in the 36th minute that proved to be the game-winner for the Huskies (2-0) in a road win over the rival Lancers (0-3).
Romero opened the scoring with a goal in the 12th minute before junior junior Ethan Eddleston answered with an equalizer in the 31st off a steal in the Matawan third of the field. Romero counted with the go-ahead goal in the 36th minute to give Matawan to the lead back before halftime.
Senior Ergi Gjino gave the Huskies an addition goal of breathing room with a tally in the 56th minute.
No. 9 Manasquan 2, Wall 0
Senior Maceo Manno assisted a first-half goal by classmate Alex Lapitzski and later scored one of his own to help spark the Warriors (2-0) to a win over the rival Crimson Knights (0-2) in Wall’s first home game on its new, on-campus turf field.
Lapitzski headed in a corner kick from Manno to open the scoring in the eighth minute and Manasquan held carried that lead into the second half while building up a significant advantage in shots that ended at 17-3. In the 57th minute, Manno tracked down a deflected shot by senior Noah Matuch and struck another deflected shot that carried into the right side of the goal.
Senior Quinn Petrulla earned his second shutout by saving one shot.

Senior Alexander Alvarez scored off a cross from classmate Liam Wheeler in the final two minutes of the first half, but LaSalle leveled the game with a penalty kick in the 59th minute as the Colts (1-1-1) settle for a draw in their second of two matches vs. two of their local sister schools.

Senior Ethan Heller buried the game-winning goal in the seventh minute of overtime and the Mustangs pulled out their first win of the season by knocking off the Little Tigers.
Heller lined up a shot that rolled to him following a corner kick into the box and drilled it in from eight yards out to finish off a bounceback win for Marlboro after the Mustangs dropped their opener to Steinert.
Marlboro struck within the first minute of the match on a goal by junior Adhvaith Madineni. Princeton equalized in the 11th minute on a goal by Yadier Frias.
