Shore Conference Tournament

Group Stage

Group 6

No. 3 Marlboro 2, Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Junior Adhvaith Madineni scored in the 12th minute and senior Andrew Freid added a goal in the 54th to power the Mustangs (2-2-1) to a win over the Bulldogs (3-2-1) in the SCT group-play opener for both teams.

Madineni hit the far post with a shot in the sixth minute, but did not miss his second chance at a goal after fellow junior Michael Sanft found him with a short pass to set up the game’s first goal.

Freid also finished a goal after hitting the crossbar in the first half and his insurance tally came after junior teammate Ethan Heller ripped a shot off the right post. The ball bounced right to Freid’s feet and he tapped it into the open goal for the finish.

Rumson’s lone threat came in the 29th minute on a sequence that started with senior Cristian Santos slamming a 30-yard free kick off the right post. The Bulldogs recycled the opportunity and junior Avery Bellincampi settled a flick and hammered a shot just wide of the left post.

Regular Season

Class A Central

No. 10 Ocean 1, Long Branch 0

Senior Connor Shaw scored the winning goal in the 67th minute off a pass from classmate Nic Critelli and the Spartans (4-2, 2-2) held on to blank the Green Wave (3-5, 0-3), with senior goalkeeper Matt Makower picking up the clean sheet.

Non-Conference

Jackson 1, Mainland 1

Senior Serhii Hryhoriak scored two minutes into the second half, but Jayden Velasquez equalized for Mainland (3-2-1) in the 62nd minute and the Jaguars (4-0-3) could not answer with the winning goal over the final 38 minutes.

Mustangs goalkeeper Jayden Dionicio made 20 saves to help his team salvage a draw, including a breakaway in the sixth minute of overtime. In the final minute of the second overtime, Elliot Slotkin cleared a shot by Jackson freshman Mason Monday away from the end-line to prevent the golden goal from scoring.
