Class A North

No. 1 CBA 3, No. 4 Middletown South 1

Senior Justin Arias assisted two first-half goals and scored the clincher in the second as the Colts (2-1-1, 2-0-0) avenged their 2025 Shore Conference Tournament semifinal loss to Middletown South by upending the Eagles (1-1, 1-1) in their home-opener at Keane Field.

Senior John Little gave CBA a 1-0 lead 92 seconds into the match off a deflected shot by Arias that Little headed into the goal. Middletown South struck back in the seventh minute on the fourth goal in two games by senior Connor Saul, but CBA grabbed the lead back in the 22nd on a goal by senior Alexander Alvarez. Arias set up that goal by taking a throw-in, then slipping the ball to the front of the goal, where Alvarez tapped it in.

Arias put the game away in the 65th with his left-footed-strike to the far-right corner of the game off a feed from fellow senior Liam Wheeler.

No. 7 Colts Neck 3, St. John Vianney 1

Senior Sean Moore scored two goals in the second half and the Cougars (1-2, 1-1) erased a one-goal halftime deficit to beat the Lancers (0-4, 0-2), securing their first win of the season.

Sophomore Luca Monteforte evened the game, 1-1, with a goal early in the first half and Moore gave Colts Neck a 2-1 lead by converting a pass from fellow senior Pedro Navroski. Moore capped the scoring with a penalty kick, which he made after St. John Vianney goalkeeper Jason Babich was ruled by the official to have come off his line when he saved Moore’s initial attempt.

Junior Ethan Eddleston gave St. John Vianney a 1-0 lead with his goal in the first half. Babich saved 22 shots to keep SJV in the game.

No. 3 Manalapan 1, No. 2 Marlboro 1

Junior Zack Fisher drilled the equalizer for Marlboro from the top of the 18-yard box in the 78th minute and the Mustangs (1-1-1, 0-0-1) and Braves (1-0-1, 1-0-1) settled for a draw.

Manalapan broke a scoreless tie in the 67th minute, when senior Antone Uhl headed in a corner kick by junior Luke Ottenheimer. After Manalapan conceded the tying goal by Fisher, the Braves played most of the 20-minute overtime session with 10 players after a second yellow card sent a man off the field.

 

Class A Central

No. 10 Ocean 5, Ranney 0

Senior Nic Critelli was one of five different Ocean players to score a goal and he also threw in an assist as the Spartans (2-1, 1-1) rolled through the Panthers (0-1-1, 0-1-1).

Senior Connor Shaw, senior Louis Vitale senior Avery Wigfall and junior Connor Turchyn each added a goal for Ocean.

Rumson-Fair Haven 1, Shore 0

Junior Nate Zerillo scored the game’s lone goal in the 73rd minute — also the first of his varsity career — and the Bulldogs (2-1-1, 1-0-1) pulled out a road win over the Blue Devils (0-1, 0-1), who were playing their season-opener.

No. 5 Freehold Township 4, No. 9 Manasquan 2

Sophomore Myles Grossman scored his first career varsity goal, then added two more for a hat trick as the Patriots (3-1, 2-0) pulled away for a win over the Warriors (2-1, 1-1).

 

Class A South

Southern 2, Brick Memorial 0

Sophomore Michael King assisted second-half goals by classmate Cameron Staiger and junior Juan Victoria and the Rams (1-1, 1-1) topped the Mustangs (0-3, 0-2) for their first win of the season.

Staiger made an overlapping run from his outside back position and drilled a shot off a pass from King in the 52nd minute for the first goal. Victoria added to the lead off the second set-up by King.

No. 6 Toms River East 2, No. 8 Toms River North 1

Freshman Noah Koeppen scored his first varsity goal to break the tie in the 76th minute and the Raiders (3-0, 2-0) rallied to top the Mariners (1-2, 1-1) for a pivotal Class A South win in early September.

Koeppen beat a crowd to a throw-in from junior Brady Gillen and knocked it in for a 2-1 Toms River East lead that the Raiders protecting for the final minutes. Toms River East tied the game in the 32nd minute on a goal by senior Ayden Salazar off a pass from sophomore Jack Gillen.

Senior Reiley Woodman struck for a goal early in the first half to give Toms River North the initial lead before the Raiders pulled even by halftime.

Toms River South 3, Point Boro 0

Junior Giuseppe Raso scored off a throw-in by classmate Bain Howe in the second minute and senior Nate Johnson later added a goal and an assist to lead the Indians (2-1, 2-0) over the Panthers (0-2, 0-2).

Liam Browne finished off a pass from Johnson in the 37th minute to send Toms River South into halftime with a 2-0 lead and Johnson capped the scoring with a goal in the 55th minute. Senior Jayden Catusco saved four shots to earn the shutout in goal.

 

Class B North

Howell 4, Wall 0

Junior Tom Beurskens scored two goals and the Rebels (3-0, 2-0) hammered the Crimson Knights (0-3, 0-2) for their third straight win to open the season. Sophomore Max Gaudious and senior Andrew Holmes each found the back of the net for Howell in the win.

Freehold Boro 3, Asbury Park 0

Junior Ryan Almeida scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to help the Colonials (1-1, 1-1) nail down a win over the Blue Bishops (1-2, 0-2). Freehold Boro jumped on top with an own goal in the first half before Almeida provided the insurance in the second half, with an assist from sophomore Jael Lopez on the second of the two goals.

Raritan 2, Middletown North 1

Junior August Zelenski scored the tie-breaking goal off a cross from senior James Thorn in the 67th minute and the Rockets (1-1, 1-0) clipped the Lions (1-1, 1-1) for their first win of the season.

The two teams traded goals eight minutes apart in the second half, with sophomore A.J. McGinn drilling a shot into the side netting to give Raritan a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute.

 

Class B Central

Red Bank Catholic 4, Henry Hudson 0

Senior Jack Denver scored a goal in each half thanks to set-ups by classmate Colin Gaines and the Caseys (1-0, 1-0) rolled past the Admirals (0-2, 0-2) in their season-opener.

Senior Nicholas Salinas opened the scoring off an assist from junior Leo Asfenis in the 16th minute and Denver hammered home a penalty kick in the 27th after Gaines drew the penalty.

Denver added to the lead with another goal in the 47th off an assist from Gaines and junior Cathel McStravick capped the scoring with a goal in the 63rd off a feed from freshman Chris Lardieri.

Matawan 6, St. Rose 1

Senior Nico Romero scored two goals and assisted another as the Huskies (3-0, 2-0) scored five unanswered goals to coast to a win over the Purple Roses (1-2, 1-1).

Senior Ryan Hart scored off a pass from senior Derek Busch to open the scoring for Matawan before Nick Elliot equalized for St. Rose. Senior Petrous Mahrous then countered with a go-ahead goal off a pass from junior Ed Gleason and Romero scored off a feed from Hart to cap the first-half scoring.

Gleason extended the lead to 4-1 with a goal early in the first half and sophomore Sam Youssef notched a goal and an assist in the second half to help finish off the win.

Monmouth 7, Keyport 0

Sophomore Dean Fredericks scored two goals and both senior Hunter Oksen and senior Gio Pellicier contributed a goal and an assist each in leading the Falcons to a win over the Red Raiders.

After Pellicier, Oksen and Fredericks scored the first three goals, sophomores Jose Garcia and Emilio Hernandez each got in on the scoring before Oksen scored again to make it 6-0. Senior Roosevelt Azard finished up the scoring with Monmouth’s seventh goal.

 

Class B South

Brick 4, Manchester 0

Senior Jack DeMan recorded a hat trick and classmate Nana Boakye-Yiadom knocked in a penalty kick to cover the scoring in a shutout win for the Green Dragons (1-2, 1-1) over the Hawks (1-2, 0-2).

Lacey 1, Jackson 1

Junior Anthony Materia scored the equalizer for Jackson in the 50th minute and the Jaguars (3-0-1, 1-0-1) but the Lions (2-1-1, 1-0-1) held on to salvage a draw while playing with 10 men for the final 47 minutes due to a double yellow card.

Lacey grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute on a goal by junior Paul Guerriero, who knocked in a cross from sophomore Tristan DeRosa. Senior goalkeeper Dylan Graham also saved a penalty kick in the 30th minute to momentarily preserve the lead.

Point Beach 4, Central 3

Junior Evan Hajeski capped a hat trick and a furious second-half comeback with the game-winning goal and the Garnet Gulls (2-0, 2-0) erased a 3-1 deficit with three goals in the final 20 minutes to beat the Golden Eagles (0-3, 0-2) on the road. The tie-breaking scored was Hajeski’s second goal of the second half and third of the game.

Hajeski scored in the first half off the first of two assists by senior Brody Powers, which trimmed Central’s lead to 2-1 before halftime. Hajeski also scored off a pass from junior Jack Morgan to pull the Garnet Gulls within 3-2 and senior Landon Hoberman leveled the game off another assist from Morgan.

Junior Mike Bianco scored two goals and freshman Blake Pisano scored the other for Central.

 

Class C South

Barnegat 5, Lakewood 1

Senior Nate Scisco recorded two goals and two assists for the second straight game and the Bengals stormed past the Piners for their third straight win to open the year.

Senior Nelson Argueta-Cedillos also scored two goals and sophomore Adam Sabine added his first varsity goal to help power Barnegat, with seniors Jacob Yudman and Matt Arbasetti each adding an assist as well.

Sophomore Stalen Laureano scored off a pass from Jonathan Bravo for Lakewood’s lone goal.

New Egypt 3, Donovan Catholic 2

Junior Chris Perez Lopez and seniors Pablo Milan and Caden Stilson each scored a goal and the Warriors (1-1, 1-1) held off the Griffins (0-1, 0-1) for their first win of the season. Senior Nico Ferriolo dealt out two assists for New Egypt.

 

Non-Division

Long Branch 3, Pinelands 0

Senior Carlos Rodas assisted a goal by junior Gefran Rodriguez, then scored one for himself in the second half to help spark the Green Wave (2-2) to a win over the Wildcats (0-3).

Rodriguez’s goal opened the scoring and senior Jordan Vieira extended the lead to 2-0 with another goal in the first half. Rodas put the finishing touches on the win with his second-half goal.

 

Non-Conference

Neptune 3, Ewing 1

Sophomore Tevenerri Verdieu clocked a goal and an assist during a three-goal second-half by the Scarlet Fliers (2-1) that carried them to a win over the Blue Devils (2-1).

Senior Dominic O’Neil and junior D.J. Green each added a goal for Neptune and senior Mason Imbriaco and junior Sebastian Rosen each dished out an assist in the win.
