Harry Grose broke a fourth-inning tie with an RBI single and delivered a pair of insurance runs with a two-run double in the top of the sixth as the Rams rode more no-hit relief work from right-hander Tyler McLeod to an OCT win — this time over the Golden Eagles to reach the tournament semifinals Saturday at top-seeded Brick Memorial.

McLeod pitched five no-hit innings in Sunday’s win over Jackson Memorial on only 48 pitches, which kept him eligible to pitch on Tuesday. He came on with two on and one out in a 4-4 game in the bottom of the third on Tuesday at Central and after hitting a batter to load the bases, McLeod induced an inning-ending double play.

The senior right-hander carved through the Central order for the next three innings, allowing just a pair of walks. McLeod has now thrown 8 2/3 no-hit innings in the Ocean County Tournament.

Southern jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first on RBI singles by Ryan Dietrich, Aiden Miller and Frankie Himmelreich. Central answered with three in the bottom of the inning on consecutive run-scoring singles by Nick Dinicola, Rob Bollentino and Gavin Srinivasan. An error in the outfield scored the run on Dinicola’s single to make it 4-1, but Dinicola picked up an RBI in the bottom of the third with a game-tying single prior to McLeod taking over on the mound.
