Class A South
No. 10 Jackson Memorial 5, No. 6 Brick Memorial 3
Dan Golembiewski slugged two home runs to get Brick Memorial back in the game and came to the plate with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning, but Dane Jorgensen struck him out on a 3-2 pitch to end the game and secure a crucial Class A South win for the Jaguars over the Mustangs.
Jackson Memorial jumped out to a 5-0 lead through three innings, with four of the runs coming in the third inning. Sean Hallihan opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly and Brady Wendell hit one of Jackson Memorial’s three singles in the fourth inning, with Wendell’s single the only one that drove in a run. After Wendell made it 2-0 with his RBI single, two runs came home as the results of an error on a ground ball hit by Aidan Alu. Jorgensen then capped the third-inning scoring with a sacrifice fly.
Golembiewski struck for his first home run in the top of the fourth, when he ripped a two-run shot over the leftfield fence to cut Jackson Memorial’s lead to 5-2. Two innings later, Golembiewski went deep again, this time for a solo home run to left.
In the top of the seventh, Brick Memorial mounted a threat thanks to back-to-back singles by Justin Fabbricatore and pinch-hitter Mike Figner to lead off, followed by a sacrifice bunt by Dan Popovitch to put the tying runs in scoring position with the top of the order coming up. Caden Rathbauer fell behind Brody Moore, 2-0, before coming back to strike him out for the second out, then walked Tyler Garbooshian to load the bases.
Jackson Memorial coach Pat George went to Jorgensen on the mound to face Golembiewski with two out and the winning run on base and Jorgensen jumped in front, 1-2. Golembiewski laid off two pitches out of the zone, but Jorgensen got the Brick Memorial slugger swinging to end the game.
Brick Memorial and Jackson Memorial are now tied with a 7-2 divisional record, meaning the winner of Friday’s game at Brick Memorial will win the 2025 Class A South championship. Brick Memorial has not won an outright division championship since 1995.

No. 5 Toms River East 6, Wall 5
Frank Soos carried Wall from a four-run deficit to a one-run lead in the span of two innings, but a two-run error in the top of the fifth gave the Raiders the lead and the win over the Crimson Knights.
Toms River East scored four times in the top of the first inning, highlighted by an RBI double by Matt Ferrara to open the scoring and followed by a pair of bases-loaded walks and an RBI ground out by Carson Frazier.
Soos struck back with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the second and in the bottom of the third, Wall loaded the bases to bring the junior catcher back to the plate with a chance to get his team even closer. Soos scorched a line drive to the right-centerfield gap, scoring all three runners with a game-tying three-run double. Two batters later, Austin Harr roped a single to left to score Soos and give the Crimson Knights a three-run lead.
In the top of the fifth, Gavin Toth singled with one out, but Wall reliever Dan Hennessy induced a pop out in the infield for the second out of the inning. Mike Vaccarino extended the Raiders threat with a single and advanced to second on an error, which also allowed Toth to reach third base with two out. Starting pitching Dan Nafziger then gave himself the lead again with a ground ball to third base that Wall could not turn into an out and both runs scored to give Toms River East the lead, 6-5.
Nafziger worked around an error in the bottom of the fifth and induced an inning-ending double play in the sixth to get Toms River East to the seventh in the lead. Soos again came to the plate in the bottom of the seventh as the tying run and walked on five pitches. Nafziger then strikeout the next batter to finish off his complete game and a Toms River East win.

Matt Vetrano gave Howell the lead for good with a two-run single in the third inning and added an RBI single as part of a four-run sixth that sealed a Rebels win over the Blue Devils.
Andrew Barham pulled Shore within 6-5 with a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning, but Howell answered with four in the bottom of the frame to put the game out of reach. Jack Quinn and Vetrano hit back-to-back RBI singles to push the Howell lead to 8-5 and the Rebels added to more runs on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and a ground out.

No. 8 Point Beach 6, St. Rose 1
Noah Banick came through with an RBI single in both of Point Beach’s run-scoring innings and Bennett Moberg collected his Shore-leading fifth win of the season as the Garnet Gulls battled past their longtime division rivals.
Banick opened the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the fifth, followed by an RBI double by Dan Lubach to gave Point Beach a 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the fifth. In the bottom of the inning, St. Rose cut its deficit in half when Jason Spallin led off the frame with a double and scored an RBI ground out by Jack Sullivan.
Point Beach gave reliever Tommy Conroy plenty of insurance in the top of the seventh in the form of a four-run rally. Banick again singled home a run to plate the first run of the inning and both Dan Storch and Carson Pfeifer followed with RBI singles in the inning.
