No. 8 Toms River East 3, Toms River South 1

Chris Tennaro doubled and scored the tying run on an RBI single by Michael Mendes in the top of the fourth and Lucas Melton created the winning run with his legs after drawing a walk — all while Logan Macchia pitched into the sixth inning before turning it over to Jonathan Pallman to close out a Raiders win over the rival Indians.

Toms River East took the lead in the top of the fifth, when Melton drew one of his three walks with two out in the inning and stole second and third to set up a score on a passed ball. Melton later stole second and third again in the top of the seventh, but Toms River South threw him out attempting to score on the back-end of a first-and-third double-steal.

Toms River South put the tying runs on base with a pair of walks to start the bottom of the seventh, which prompted a pitching change from Macchia to Pallman. Pallman pounced on a bunt attempt and threw to third base for the force out. The senior left-hander struck out the next batter and ended the game with a successful pick-off move to first base to halt the prospective Indians rally.

Logan Sowa opened the scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the first, putting Toms River South on top, 1-0.
