Toms River South 4, No. 10 Point Boro 1
Toms River South’s Nos. 8 and 9 hitters delivered at the plate and in the field for senior starting pitcher Evan Schmidt, who pitched a three-hitter with one unearned run allowed in a win for the Indians over a Panthers team that did not allowed a run in its first two games of the season.
Freshman second baseman Andrew Schmidt got his older brother out of the first inning with a running catch in foul territory, then knocked in the first run of the game by singling through the left side with one out in the bottom of the second inning.
Sophomore Logan Weed, meanwhile, made two diving catches in right field and also added an outfield assist to erase a base hit by Point Boro leadoff hitter Nick Carmino in the top of the third. In the bottom of the fourth, Weed ripped a 3-2 breaking ball from John Loizos into leftfield for an RBI single and a 2-0 Toms River South lead. Cannan Sanzone tacked on two more runs with a two-run single to cap a three-run rally for the Indians in the fourth.
Evan Schmidt walked Carmino to lead off the game, then bounced back by inducing a 1-6-3 double play, followed by the running grab by Andrew Schmidt to end the inning. Evan Schmidt did not walk another batter the rest of the way and finished his outing by striking out two in the final inning, including the last batter of the game.

Holmdel 4, Matawan 3
Dylan Sidhu hit a tie-breaking single in the bottom of the sixth inning and Jason Dubleski closed out the win in relief as the Hornets rallied to top the Huskies, sweeping the regular-season series between the Class C North foes.
Jack Vallillo cracked an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to draw Holmdel within a run at 3-2, then scored on an RBI ground out by Kyle Silberman to tie the game, 3-3. In the following inning, James Murphy led off with a single and remained there until Sidhu stepped in with two out. Sidhue lined a single into right and after the ball skipped by the right fielder, Murphy scored all the way from first with the go-ahead run.

The Warriors jumped on Brick Memorial junior left-hander Zach Pirnik for four runs in the top of the first, but the Mustangs rallied to tie the game by the third inning and took the lead in the fourth — all while Pirnik settled in to earn his second complete-game victory of the season.
Brody Moore answered the four-run first by Manasquan with an RBI double in the bottom-half of the inning and later added a sacrifice fly in the fourth to make it 6-4. Matt McGlynn singled home the tying run in the bottom of the third and senior Trevor Kish hit a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth to cap the scoring.

Ryan Van Kleef threw 32 pitches of relief over 1 2/3 innings before Brad Santoro recorded the final out on two pitches.
Roselle Park 9, Henry Hudson 8
David Ortore hit a tie-breaking RBI double in the top of the seventh, but Henry Hudson failed to add to the lead and the Panthers won it on a two-out, 3-2, bases-loaded RBI single by Mike Bromirski to score the winning run from third.
Ortore’s double followed back-to-back walks to start the top of the seventh and set Henry Hudson up with runners on second and third with none out, but winning pitcher Julian Candelaria worked out of the jam while keeping his team’s deficit at a single run.
Gerald Bonifaz tied the game with a one-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh and Roselle Park loaded the bases with one out. Zach Margolick picked up a key strikeout with runners on the corners for the second out, then pitched his way back into a 3-2 count against Jesse Garnick before walking him. Margolick then jumped in front of Bromirsky, 0-2, before Bromirski battled back to a full count and found a hole on the left side for the winning hit.
Henry Hudson tied the game by scoring four runs in the top of the sixth after falling behind, 7-3. Marshall Colangelo hit a two-run double during the rally, with the Admirals tying the game on a wild pitch for the sixth run, followed by an error for the seventh.
