Manalapan 9, Middletown South 4
Four Middletown South errors in the top of the fourth inning opened the door to a big inning for the Braves that carried them to a win over the Eagles, giving Brady Costello his first win of the season on the mound.
Three errors in the first four batters of the fourth led to the first run of the game and freshman Josh Sosinov came through with a pinch-hit, two-run single to put Manalapan ahead, 3-0. Robert Cruz added a bases-loaded single that led to three runs one came in on the single and two more came in on a throwing error. Courtesy runner Gavin Leib scored the seventh and final run of the inning on a wild pitch.
Sosinov added an RBI singe in the top of the fifth to stretch Manalapan’s lead to 8-1 and James Vitucci came on to pitch for Manalapan with runners on the corners, two out and a 9-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth and stranded the bases loaded with the Braves still up 9-4. Vitucci finished the game off with a one-two-three seventh inning.

No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 12, Howell 5
Tyler Hager and Luke Lonczak each blasted a home run during Red Bank Catholic’s eight-run sixth inning, which turned a tie game into a comfortable Caseys win over the Rebels.
Lonczak led off the bottom of the sixth with a single and scored the tie-breaking run on an RBI double by senior catcher Aiden Funk, which gave RBC a 5-4 lead. Jake Frankel made it 6-4 with an RBI single and Hager extended the lead to 8-4 with a two-run homer to leftfield.
Miles Nessan hit RBC’s third extra-base hit of the inning with a two-out RBI double that put the Caseys up, 9-4, and Lonczak capped the rally by crushing a three-run bomb to left — his third home run of the season.
RBC’s offensive explosion in the sixth helped the Caseys overcome a huge day at the plate for Howell senior second baseman Ryan Todisco, who single-handedly kept Howell in the game through five-and-a-half innings. Todisco doubled and scored on a ground out by Antonio Magistrelli for the game’s first run in the top of the second and slammed a solo home run to make it 2-0 in the top of the fourth. After RBC scored four unanswered runs to go up, 4-2, Todisco tied the game with a two-run home run in the top of the sixth for his third extra-base hit of the game and fifth long ball of the season.
Hager and senior Drew Cannon each singled and scored in the bottom of the fourth, when the Caseys pulled even, 2-2. Hager drove in the go-ahead run with an infield single in the bottom of the fifth and Cannon added a sacrifice fly later in the inning to make it 4-2.

Ranney 4, No. 1 CBA 2 (8 Innings)
Junior shortstop Ricky Lopez belted a tie-breaking two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, then started the game-ending double-play in the bottom of the inning to help the Panthers close out a road win over the Class-A-North-division-leading Colts.
After David Cantin dropped a leadoff single into centerfield to start the winning rally in the top of the eighth, Lopez launched a 1-0 pitch over the leftfield fence for his fourth home run of the season and a 4-2 Ranney lead.
CBA loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the eighth against Ranney junior right-hander J.L. Gallina, who goaded Michael Knox to hit into a ground ball to Lopez, who started a 6-4-3 double-play to end the game, with second baseman Robbie Wrobel making the turn at second and Brody McCorkle squeezing the final out at first.
Wrobel staked Ranney to a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the top of the first inning and Lopez made it 2-0 in the third, when he singled, stole both second and third bases and scored when the throw to third skipped into leftfield.
CBA scored twice with two out in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game, with Alex Fiore drawing a bases-loaded walk to break up the shutout and Hoverter beating out an RBI infield single to tie the game on the first batter Gallina faced in relief of freshman starter Jake Abrams.

Raritan 2, Freehold Township 1
Antonio Lamberti and Will Meehan both clubbed extra-base hits in the first inning, Eric Finne drove in the deciding run with a sacrifice fly and pitchers Eric McCartney and Bear Evernham pitched into and out of trouble throughout the game to deliver the Rockets a road win over the Patriots.
Lamberti started the game with a leadoff triple and scored on an RBI double by Meehan. Tyler Benedict led off the top of the fourth with a single and after a pair of errant pickoff throws moved the runner to third, Finne brought him home with a sac fly for a 2-0 lead.
McCartney pitched into the fifth inning and turned the game over to Evernham with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the fifth. Evernham escaped the jam by inducing a ground out to end the inning. In the bottom of the sixth, Freehold Township loaded the bases with none out, but Evernham got out of it unscathed with a pop-out, strikeout and a ground-out.
Freehold Township got to Evernham on an two-out RBI double by Ed Gudaitis, who then stole third to put the tying run 90 feet from home plate. Evernham responded with a strikeout to end the game and nail down his second save of the season.
