No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 13, Middletown South 2 (6 Innings)
Seniors Glen Popes and Joe Mauro combined on a no-hitter and the Caseys bats came to life in the third inning in a road win over the Eagles.
Popes worked the first five innings and allowed a pair of unearned runs on a two-out error in the bottom of the fourth inning after he loaded the bases with two walks and a hit-by-pitch. He got the next better and twirled a one-two-three fifth to finish off his outing.
Luke Lonczak and Aiden Funk each homered in a five-run third inning and Charlie Stumberger blasted a three-run shot in a six-run sixth for RBC as the Caseys offense found their swings after beating Middletown South in last week’s opener, 1-0.

O’Donnell lifted a sacrifice fly to chase home the first run of the game in the third inning and later singled home a run in Jackson’s three-run third. Aiden Cruz also came through with an RBI single in the fifth to make it 2-0 and Charlie Buchinsky checked in with sacrifice fly in the seventh.

Ocean 17, Monmouth 8
David Jules collected five of his six RBI in the game during the final two innings, beginning with a solo home run leading off the sixth that kicked off a 13-run outburst by the Spartans, who rallied to top the Falcons in their first Shore Conference game of the season.
The solo blast by Jules cut Monmouth’s lead to 7-5 and a pair of RBI ground balls — one an out and another a fielder’s choice that did not yield an out — tied the game, 7-7. Ocean took the lead on an error and made it 9-7 on another RBI ground out, this time by Hayden Ansell.
Jules then hit the first of his two two-run singles in the final two innings to make it 11-7 and Jake Garrett capped the nine-run sixth with a two-run double. Jules later finished off the Ocean scoring with a two-run single to make it 17-7.
Garrett also hit an RBI double to give Ocean a 1-0 lead in the second and Braden Moore belted a solo home run to make it a 3-0 lead later in the inning.

No. 10 Toms River South 4, Point Boro 2
Jaden Geremia doubled and scored on a Christian Mascaro single in the first inning and hit a solo home run in the second to spark the offense while Aiden Moylan limited the Panthers to one run in six innings to pitch the Indians to a win that clinches a regular-season sweep of Point Boro. The 4-0 start to the season is Toms River South’s best start since winning its first seven games of 2017.
Point Boro cut its two-run deficit in half on an RBI double by Matt Lokerson in the fifth inning, but Toms River South centerfielder Cannan Sanzone started a relay that cut down Aidan Dombrowsky at home plate attempting to score the tying run, with the shortstop, Mascaro, taking the relay and firing the throw to catcher Logan Sowa that beat Dombrowsky.
In the top of the seventh, Toms River South added a pair of key insurance runs, first on an RBI single by Brett Rankin, followed by an RBI double by Anthony Abatemarco.
Point Boro threatened in the seventh, with James Bradley roping a leadoff double, followed by a pair of walks that loaded the bases with one out. Mascaro recorded a strikeout for the second out, but Lokerson kept the game alive by beating out an infield single for his second RBI hit of the game. Mascaro then bounced back for another strikeout to end the game with the tying run on second base and the winning run on first.

St. John Vianney 5, Holmdel 2
The Lancers scored a single run with two out in five of the first six innings to back starter Thomas Dunn, who scattered nine hits over 5 2/3 innings to lead St. John Vianney over the Hornets.
J.J. McGonigle and Anthony Bavaro each smacked a two-out RBI double, with McGonigle’s making it 3-0 in the third and Bavaro extending Vianney’s lead to 5-1 in the top of the sixth.
Holmdel pulled within 5-2 in the bottom of the fifth when Massimo Spertudo tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Raum Desai. Jack Vallillo then doubled with two out to put the potential tying run in the on-deck circle, which prompted SJV to turn to Matt Baczor to escape the inning. The senior right-hander notched a strikeout to end the inning, then picked up two more in a scoreless seventh to earn his third save of the young season — the most of any pitcher in the Shore Conference.

Lacey 8, Manchester 2
Logan Resetar drilled a go-ahead two-run home run to set off a seven-run sixth inning as the Lions came to life at the plate late in a win over the Hawks — the first defeat of the season suffered by Manchester.
Resetar’s two-run shot put Lacey on top, 3-2, and the Lions added runs on RBI singles by Ryan Brewer, Strummer Caputo and Russell Davies, as well as an RBI double by Evan Greenberg. St. Rose 12, New Egypt 1
University of Pittsburgh commit Peter Nolan struck out 16 of the 19 batters he faced, including all 15 outs he recorded as the Purple Roses rolled past the Warriors for their third straight win to open the season.
During the bottom of the third inning, Nolan issued a two-out walk to Dylan Harper, then struck out Nolan Arnold, but his third strike skipped to the backstop, allowing Arnold to reach on a strikeout. One more wild pitch allowed Harper to score New Egypt’s lone run, which cut St. Rose’s lead to 3-1 at the time.
Jonathan Spallin and Jackson Whitehead gave St. Rose a 3-0 lead with RBI hits in the top of the third. Spallin’s RBI single made it 1-0 and Whitehead extended the lead to 3-0 with a two-run single. Spallin later doubled home a run to make it 5-1 in the top of the fourth and Nick Ferrante followed with an RBI single later that same inning for a 6-1 lead.
Four of St. Rose’s six runs in the top of the sixth inning scored on bases-loaded walks, with the other two coming in on passed balls.
