Sectional Semifinals
Central Jersey Group IV
(3) Hunterdon Central 8, (7) Jackson 5
Matt Galayda continued drove in the first of two Jackson runs in the top of the first inning and later hit his second home run of the tournament, but the Red Devils scored in five of their six offensive innings to battle past the Jaguars and into the sectional final Friday against No. 1 Old Bridge.
Galayda drove in sophomore Dominic Zolla after Zolla led off the game with a double and Carney O’Donnell scored Galayda with an RBI double to stake Jackson to a 2-0 lead in its first trip to bat.
Hunterdon Central immediately answered with two in the bottom of the first on a two-run single by Joey Tedesco. In the third, J.P. Santos singled home a pair of runs with two out to give the Red Devils a 4-2 lead and Danny Contiliano added to the lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-2.
Jackson loaded the bases with none out in the top of the fifth and settled for one run when S.J. Wall scored on a double-play. Wall homered in each of the first two rounds of the tournament and went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI on Wednesday.
Trey Garutti doubled home a run in a two-run fifth and Jackson cut the deficit to 7-5 in the top of the sixth on a leadoff homer by Galayda and a sacrifice fly by Wall, which marked the Jaguars’ final run of the game.

Central Jersey Group III
(3) Brick Memorial 3, (2) Colts Neck 2
Senior Tyler Garbooshian led off the game with a homer for his fourth long ball of the NJSIAA Tournament and Brody Moore closed out a win for teammate Zach Pirnik on the mound as the Mustangs clipped the Cougars to reach the Central Jersey Group III championship for the second straight year.
Garbooshian launched a 2-2 pitch over the leftfield wall for a 1-0 lead, which marked his fourth straight game with a home run and his fifth homer during that stretch. It was his sixth home run on the season overall.
Brick Memorial scored a run in each of the first three innings. Trevor Kish doubled into the leftfield corner and scored on an RBI single by Gavin McCue to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead. In the top of the third, Brick Memorial started the inning with a misplayed fly ball and a walk, which prompted the Cougars to go to their bullpen and Ryan Spencer. Matt McGlynn greeted him with a single and a run scored when the throw into the infield skipped to the backstop, giving Dan Golembiewski clearance to trot home for a 3-0 lead.
Colts Neck tightened the score in the bottom of the third on a two-out RBI single by Ryan Rude, who later scored on a nearly identical play to the one that scored the unearned run by Brick Memorial in the top of the inning. Joe Pignatelli singled to center and after Rude got the stop sign at third base, the throw from centerfield shot to the back stop and allowed Rude to score. John Glusko started the run-scoring rally with a double to the gap in left-centerfield.
Spencer made an appearance on the mound in Colts Neck’s 11th straight game and pitched five scoreless innings with eight strikeouts to finish his season in dominant fashion.
Pirnik, meanwhile, bounced back from the two-run third by cruising through six innings on 71 pitches and turned the ball over to Moore for the seventh, which Moore ripped through in order on eight pitches.

(8) Allentown 5, (4) Wall 2
For the second straight game, Allentown flipped a deficit into a lead with a two-out run-scoring triple, this time with Matt Rosta swatting a go-ahead two-run triple in the fourth that propelled the Redbirds to a win over the Crimson Knights that sends Allentown to the sectional final Friday at No. 2 Governor Livingston.
Wall built a 2-0 lead thanks to a sacrifice fly by sophomore Will Hunt in the bottom of the second and a solo home run by classmate Jackson Soos in the following inning. An error, hit-by-pitch and a walk loaded the bases for Allentown in the top of the fourth and after a fielder’s choice cut the deficit in half, Rosta hammered a drive to center that chased home two runs with two out in the inning.
After a John Catanio single with one out in the third inning, Pullen retired 14 of the final 16 batters he faced, with the lone players to reach doing so on a hit-by-pitch and an error.

Central Jersey Group I
(5) Shore 2, (1) Middlesex 0
Ryan Barham pitched six three-hit shutout innings against the defending Group I champions and also ripped an RBI double in the top of the fifth inning, carrying the Blue Devils over the Blue Jays and into the sectional final for the second time in three years. Just as Shore did in 2024, the Blue Devils will travel to Point Beach for Friday’s championship game.
Shore had a runner thrown out at home plate in the top of the third and in the fifth, the Blue Devils stood at two outs with none on when they started the rally. Sophomore Luca Delonardo singled and stole second base to set up the situation for senior Liam Hennelly, who ripped an RBI single to score Delonardo with the game’s first run.
Barham then stepped in an yanked a double inside the foul line in right field to chase Hennelly home from first with the insurance run. Barham ran out of pitches on his final batter of the sixth inning and his twin brother, Andrew, took over for the seventh and closed out the win with his third save of the season.
Through three rounds of the tournament, Shore has yet to allow a run, with Ryan Barham earning each of Shore’s last two wins with 13 scoreless innings. Hennelly pitched a four-hit shutout in the first round, kicking off a run of 21 scoreless innings with 28 strikeouts through the first three rounds.
