(9) Wall 4, (24) Barnegat 1

Luke Dana hit a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the third and started a three-run rally in the fifth with a leadoff double as the Crimson Knights topped the Bengals behind a complete game on the mound by John Catanio.

Dana and Catanio both scored on a two-run single by Will Hague that gave Wall a 3-1 lead and Chris Knight drove in courtesy runner Jack Duffy with an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-1 later in the fifth.

Chris Santero gave Barnegat a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the top of the second inning, but Catanio got out of the inning with the help of a double play that marked the start of a run during which Catanio allowed three baserunners — two walks and an error — while recording the final 17 outs of the game.

Wall advances to play at No. 8 Toms River East in Saturday’s round of 16.

(22) Lacey 9, (11) Manasquan 7

Evan Greenberg hit a two-run triple in the fourth to get Lacey back in the game and Nate Baran and Brayden Messina delivered back-to-back RBI hits to give the Lions the lead one inning later as Lacey rallied from an early four-run deficit to knock off the Warriors.

Greenberg’s two-run triple cut Manasquan’s lead to 7-5 and an RBI ground out by Russell Davies trimmed it to 7-6. Baran ripped an RBI double to pull Lacey even, 7-7, in the fifth and Messina followed with an RBI single through the middle to push the Lions in front, 8-7. Greenberg kept the line moving with a single that advanced Messina to third and Davies came through again with a sacrifice fly to score Messina and extend Lacey’s lead to 9-7.

Andrew Hollister pitched five one-hit, scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Hollister put a pair of runners on in the bottom of the seventh with a walk and hit-by-pitch, but he induced a line drive to third baseman Jack Soltis that Soltis turned into a game-ending double-play by doubling off the runner at second base.

Lacey moves on to face No. 6 Christian Brothers Academy Saturday in the round of 16.

(13) Shore 9, (20) St. Rose 0

Left-hander Ryan Barham matched a career-high with 14 strikeouts and drove in a run at the plate as the Blue Devils rolled through the Purple Roses and into the SCT round of 16 Saturday at No. 4 Ranney.

Shore pounced for four runs against St. Rose ace Peter Nolan in the first inning, with Riley Smaltini, Andrew Barham, Braden Calandriello and Trevor Doremus driving in a run each in consecutive at-bats. Smaltini slammed an RBI double to open the scoring, Barham singled through the left side to plate the second run, Calandriello pushed home another run with an RBI ground out and Doremus beat out an infield single to drive in the fourth run of the rally.

Mike Russomano doubled and scored on a double-play in the second inning and Doremus smacked an RBI double to make it 6-0 in the bottom of the third before scoring on an Enzo Cagliostro RBI single to make it 7-0 through three.

Ryan Barham checked in with an RBI on a ground out in the fourth and Andrew Barham drove in his second run with an RBI single that ended the scoring.

On the mound, Ryan Barham recorded 11 of his first 12 outs via strikeout. St. Rose put at least one base-runner on in each inning, although Barham struck out the final three batters he faced. With 110 pitches following his 14th strikeout, he turned the ball over to Cole Warner, who surrendered an infield hit to Nolan before recording the final out on a ground ball to Calandriello at third base.

Despite taking his second loss on the mound, Nolan’s seventh-inning single gave him 100 hits for his career.

(14) Point Boro 2, (19) St. John Vianney 1

Nick Carmino drew a seven-pitch walk to force home the tie-breaking run in the bottom of the sixth inning and left-hander Landon Hoyle completed a one-hitter on the mound to send the Panthers past the Lancers and into Saturday’s SCT round of 16 at No. 3 Brick Memorial.

Hoyle took a no-hitter into the top of the seventh inning before Tyler Shpiro ended the bid with an infield single to the shortstop hole. The junior recovered by inducing a pop out for the second out, followed by a game-ending strikeout.

Point Boro opened the bottom of the sixth with three consecutive singles by Aidan Dombrowsky, Ryan Kowalewski and Dom Crudo, the last of which was a pinch-hit bunt single that loaded the bases with none out.

St. John Vianney right-hander Joe Weber nearly wiggled out of trouble, recording the first out on a force-out at the plate on a bunted ball to first baseman C.J. Simone, who threw the ball home fore the out. A shallow fly out accounted for the second out and Weber recovered from a 3-1 count vs. Carmino to throw strike two, followed by a pitch that Carmino fouled off to earn another 3-2 offering.

St. John Vianney struck first by scoring on a two-out error in the top of the second inning. The Panthers answered in the bottom of the third on a two-out RBI double by catcher Fin Czaplinski.

R.J. Conover and Joe Pignatelli set the tone for Colts Neck with RBI hits in the bottom of the first inning and Jack Dugo and Ryan Spencer pitched the Cougars past the Lions and into the SCT round of 16 Saturday at No. 2 Point Beach.

Conover opened the scoring with a two-run double and came around to score on an RBI single by Pignatelli for a 3-0 lead. Middletown North chipped away at the Cougars lead thanks to five doubles, including RBI doubles by Ryan Clark and Liam Sheehan in the third and fifth innings, respectively.

Colts Neck tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a key error, with catcher Matt Clark pushing one across on a squeeze bunt.

(17) Freehold Township 3, (16) Southern 0

Senior right-hander Jackson Redmond pitched a four-hit shutout on 75 pitches with no walks and five strikeouts, leading the Patriots to a road win over the Rams that earns them a shot at top-seeded Red Bank Catholic Saturday in the SCT round of 16.

Wednesday’s outing was Redmond’s fifth straight complete game, during which he has allowed three runs — none earned — and no walks while striking out 51. All five complete games were full seven-inning outings.

Freehold Township gave Redmond a lead to work with in the third inning courtesy of a dropped third strike that would have been the final out of the inning. Instead, George Burdge reached first base and Kobe Dancel — who led off the inning with a double — scored on the passed ball to make it 1-0.

The Patriots scored a clean run in the top of the fourth when Nick Stabile led off with a triple and scored on an RBI double by Skylar Garcia one batter later. Freehold Township added another insurance run in the third on an RBI single by Nick Schicchi.
