The Golden Eagles (1-0) rallied from a 2-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the 4th inning and held on the rest of the way in an opening day victory over the Lions (0-1). Sophomore pitcher Hailey Craddock had eight strikeouts and allowed just two hits and two walks. Senior IF Madison Ryan went 2-for-3 with two RBI’s. Senior IF Annarose Torres was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Senior Chloe Emmons went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the loss. Junior Bella Byk was 1-for-3 with an RBI at the plate and struck out four batters on the mound.

Barnegat 1, Jackson 0

Junior pitcher Gianna Gomez struck out 19 batters and allowed just one hit and zero walks as the Bengals (1-0) defeated the Jaguars (0-1) in a pitcher’s duel. In the top of the 4th inning, senior CF Brianna Dato singled on a ground ball which was followed by a line drive double to center field from senior C Jadeyn Bodziak which scored the game’s eventual winning run.

Bodziak finished 2-for-3 with the double and the RBI. Dato was 1-for-3 with the game’s only run. Sophomore 2B Brooke Rizzo went 2-for-3.

Senior pitcher Emily Hersh struck out 9 batters in the loss and allowed just five hits and no walks in the loss. Hersh also had the only hit for the Jaguars.

Point Beach 20, Red Bank 2 (5 innings)

Freshman 2B Faith Shilk went 4-for-5 with a double, six RBI’s and three runs as the Garnet Gulls (1-1) routed the Bucs (1-1). Sophomore C Olivia D’Erasmo was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two walks, and five RBI’s. Freshman Brynn Rusbarsky finished 3-for-5 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Junior pitcher Gia Gates struck out three batters in the win.
