No.3 Marlboro 5, Middletown North 2

Trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the 4th inning, Marlboro (11-3, 6-3) scored three runs and added one run in both the 5th and 6th innings to beat division rival Middletown North (5-11, 0-10).  Junior Reese Grinberg went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and drove in four runs to lead the Mustangs. Junior Isabella Wuelfing hit her second home run of the year and struck out three batters in three innings of relief.

Sophomore Izzy Mattison and Deana Coberg each had a single and RBI for Middletown North.

Constitution

Ocean 9, Freehold Boro 1

Sophomore pitcher Colleen Zdan recorded nine strikeouts and allowed only two hits and four walks, as the Spartans (9-3- 8-3) earned a critical win over the Colonials (10-6, 7-4). A win against Manalapan in their final division game will clinch the division outright.

Sophomore 3B Nola Vacchiano went 2-for-4 with four RBI’s in the win. Freshman SS Taylor Scotto was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Zdan batted 2-for-4 with an RBI. Freshman 2B Sadie Conklin finished 3-for-3 with an RBI.

St. Rose 12, Monmouth 1 (5 Innings)

St. Rose (7-9, 5-7) exploded for eight runs in the top of the 1st inning to beat division opponent Monmouth (4-13, 2-10). Senior Emily Torresdal struck out seven batters to earn the win in the circle and had a double and two RBI’s at the plate. Senior Stevie Greco went 2-for-3 with two RBI’s. Freshman Charliee Johnson and Morgan McGee both hit triples and drove in a run for the Roses.

Patriot

Lakewood 15, Neptune 5 (6 innings)

Senior Gisell Nieves went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBI’s, and three runs, as the Piners (3-10, 2-8) routed the Scarlet Fliers (4-8, 4-7). Dilenia Oquendo was 4-for-5 with a double, two RBI’s, and a run. Sophomore pitcher Celine Castro struck out eight batters.

Brick at Henry Hudson- PPD

Keansburg 24,  Keyport 14

Non-Division

Wall 8, Brick Memorial 7

Trailing 7-3 going into the bottom of the 5th inning, Wall (3-10) scored five runs to beat Brick Memorial (4-10) in a non-divisional game. Sophomore Eloise Plevier had a triple and three RBI’s and Essie Harr went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI’s for Wall. Sophomore Amanda Ragan struck out seven hitters to earn the win.

Junior Avery Nalducci went 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI’s at the plate and struck 13 batters on the mound for Brick Memorial.

No. 10 Toms River East 12,  Pinelands 6

Toms River East (12-2) wasted no time against Pinelands (7-10), scoring seven runs in the top of the 1st inning to win the non-divisional game. Five players drove in two runs for the Raiders with Addison Gallagher going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s. Cameron Carr had two hits, including a double, and scored three runs for East. Freshman Brianna DiLima struck out three batters and earned the win.

Senior Audra Daniel went 3-for-4 with with two RBI’s and Brielle Hartley had three hits and a run scored for Pinelands.

Rumson-Fair Haven 18, Long Branch 3

Point Beach 5, No. 8 Holmdel 4

The Garnet Gulls (4-11) scored five runs in the top of the 2nd inning and held on the rest of the way to stun the Hornets (11-2). A single from sophomore Lyla Coyle, followed by and hit batter and a walk, gave the Garnet Gulls bases loaded. After a strikeout, sophomore Eden Neuworth hit a 2-RBI single. Senior Bridget Kane then hit a 2-RBI double to center field. Freshman Brynn Rusbarsky then hit an RBI single.

Holmdel scored a run in bottom of the third inning on a sacrifice fly from senior Julia Henderson. The Hornets added three more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning on an RBI single from freshman Amanda Tuccillo, an RBI single from Henderson, and an RBI from junior Natalie Clifford on a fielder’s choice. A ground out on the ensuring at bat ended the threat with runners on 2nd and 3rd, and the Hornets never had runners in scoring position again.

Notably, Henderson did not start the game on the mound for Holmdel. She struck out 11 batters and allowed only three hits and no runs in relief.
