Shore Conference Tournament

(3) Marlboro 2, (6) Holmdel 0

Marlboro (15-7) is the first team to reach the SCT semifinal round after a hard-fought win over Holmdel (15-4). Senior pitcher Emily Gaudio only allowed two hits and struck out 11 batters in the shutout victory. Gaudio also went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in Samantha Gellis to score the Mustangs first run in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Gellis led the inning off with a single. Junior Alyssa Abadiatokis added an insurance run in the bottom of the 5th inning, scoring junior Isabella Wuelfing, who doubled the previous at-bat.

Senior Julia Henderson had Holmdel’s both hits, going 2-for-3 with a double. Henderson struck out four batters on the mound for the Hornets.

Marlboro will play the winner of Donovan Catholic/Barnegat game on Tuesday in the semifinals.

Non-Division

Freehold Boro 13, Point Beach 3

Trailing 2-1 going into the 3rd inning, Freehold Boro scored four runs the next three innings to win the non-divisional game against Point Beach (5-15). Junior Ashley Koppelman went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored and freshman Vanessa Karabin went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s for the Colonials. Freshmen Jackie Russo and Kayla Lloyd both went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Freshman Faith Schilk went 2-for-3 with two RBI’s and Bridget Kane went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for Point Beach.

Toms River North 4, Ocean 1

Senior 1B Dalylia Lyon smashed a walk-off 3-run home run with one out in the final inning to lead the Mariners (9-10) past the Spartans (10-9). Lyon finished 3-for-3 with the home run and a double. Senior CF Camryn Lynch hit a sacrifice fly to give the Mariners the lead in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Spartans tied the game in the top of the 6th inning on a sacrifice fly from junior catcher Ryleigh Cerco.

Sophomore pitcher Alexa Iovine recorded four strikeouts and allowed six hits in the complete game win for the Mariners.

Central 2, Freehold Township 0

Scoreless through four innings, Central (13-8) scored the games first run in the bottom of the 5th and added an insurance run in the 6th inning to beat Freehold Township (8-8) in a non-divisional game. Junior Kayla Fedor hit a solo home run and Jaelynn Witte drove in a run for Central. Sophomore Hailey Craddock only allowed two hits and struck out seven batters to earn the win.

Junior Kiana DeMonte struck out 11 batters for the Patriots, raising her total to 177 on the season.

Red Bank 18, Neptune 7 (6 Innings)

Red Bank (3-12) scored seven runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to beat Neptune (5-11) in a non-divisional game. Sophomore Eleanor Richards went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Abby Marrin walked three times and scored three times for Red Bank.

Senior Sophia Forgach hit a double and drove three runs in and Chloe Rodriguez went 3-for-4 for Neptune.

Shore 11, Toms River South 9

No. 10 Raritan 7, St. Rose 1

Raritan (17-7) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the 1st inning to beat St. Rose (8-14) in a non-divisional game. Sophomore Lila Houlihan went 2-for-4 with a home run, double and four RBI’s and Brielle Brosonski went 2-for-4 with a RBI. Houlihan struck out six batter to earn the victory.

Freshman Morgan McGee went 2-for-3 with a run scored for St. Rose.

Jackson 11, Manalapan 8

 

 

Non-Conference

Seneca 8, No. 7 Southern 7

Lakewood 24, LEAP Academy 7 (4 Innings)

Lakewood (4-14) scored 15 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to beat LEAP Academy (6-16) in a non-conference game. Sophomore Celine Castro went 4-for-4 with three home runs and five RBI’s to lead Lakewood. Senior Amanyi Randolph went 3-for-4 with a home run and double and four RBI’s and Dilenia Oquendo hit a home run and drove three runs in for Lakewood.
