No. 1 St. John Vianney 8, No. 3 Middletown South 0

SJV (8-0, 5-0) broke a 0-0 tie with four runs in the bottom of the 2nd and added three more in the 4th to defeat Middletown South (6-2, 4-2) for the second time this season. Gabby Gonzalez continues to have a hot bat, going 3-for-4 and freshman Molly Plath went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored for the Lancers. Madison McDougall struck out eight batters and only allowed one hit in the victory.

Sophomore Jordyn Cowell hit a double to give Middletown South their lone hit.

No. 4 Red Bank Catholic 8, Middletown North 2

RBC (4-3, 3-3) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and added five more in the 5th to beat division rival Middletown North (2-7, 0-6). Senior Jayden Kane went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI’s and sophomore Mackenna Savage went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI’s. Savage also struck out 13 batters and did not allow an earned run to earn the win.

Riley McBurney and Ellie Gottshalk both had an RBI for the Lions.

No. 6 Marlboro 4, No. 5 Colts Neck 3

Marlboro (5-2, 3-2) took advantage of errors in the early innings to build a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning and added two more runs late to defeat division rival Colts Neck (2-5, 2-4).  Junior Isabella Wuelfing went 2-for-3 with an inside the park home run in the bottom of the 5th inning for the Mustangs.  Senior Emily Gaudio struck out nine batters to earn the victory.

Colts Neck battled back with one run in the 5th inning and two in the 7th inning, but could not get the tying run home from 2nd base. Angela Sasso struck out 9 batters in the game and drove in Gabby Bryce in the 5th inning.

Colonial

No. 8 Holmdel 13, Wall 1 (5 Innings)

Trailing 1-0 going into the 3rd inning, Holmdel (6-0, 6-0) scored three runs in the top of the inning and added seven more in the 4th to defeat Wall (1-7, 1-5) in a divisional game. Senior Julia Henderson went 3-for-4 with four RBI’s and did not allow an earned run to lead Holmdel. Freshman Amanda Tuccillo went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI’s.

Freehold Township 4, Howell 1 (8 Innings)

Freehold Township (2-4, 2-4) broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the top of the 8th inning to beat rival Howell (3-5, 1-5). Sophomore Alissa Chavez hit a 3-run double to win the game for the Patriots. Francesca Svoboda drove in a run in the 1st inning. Kian DeMonte struck out 10 batters and did not allow an earned run for Freehold Township.

Sophomore Katelyn Murphy went 2-for-4 with a double for Howell.

Constitution

Manalapan 6, No. 9 Freehold Boro 5

Tied 5-5 going into the 7th inning, Manalapan (2-7, 2-3) scored in the top of the 7th to defeat division rival Freehold Boro (6-3, 4-2). Elissa Lieberman scored the winning run on a single by Kylie Courter. Courter went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for the Braves. Isabel Caputo went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two runs scored. Leah Garby struck out 12 batters to earn the victory.

Paige Sheridan and Katherine Marting both went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI’s for Freehold Boro.

Manasquan 7, Shore 2

After giving up a run in the top of the 1st inning, Manasquan (3-4, 3-3) scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and added four more in the 6th to defeat Shore (5-3, 3-3) in a division game. Senior Delia Gilmore hit her third home run in two games for the Warriors and drove in four runs. Sophomore Julianna Runge went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s. Gilmore struck out eight batters to earn the win.

Kayla Delia went 2-for-3 with a double and Olivia DeFonce went 1-for-1 with two walks and a run scored for Shore.

St. Rose 5, Monmouth 0

St. Rose (5-4, 3-3) broke a scoreless game with a run in the bottom of the 4th and added two in the 5th and 6th inning to defeat Monmouth in a division game. Senior Emily Torresdal struck out 16 batters in the shutout victory. Sophomore Elena Scelfo went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s and Charlee Johnson drove in another run for St. Rose.

Patriot

Keyport 23, Keansburg 12

Neptune 16, Lakewood 15

Trailing 15-9 going into the bottom of the 5th inning, Neptune (2-4, 2-3) rallied with a run in the 5th and three in the 6th and 7th to come back and win on a walk-off over Lakewood (0-5, 0-5). Senior Sophia Forgach went 3-for-5 with a home run, double and four RBI’s to lead Neptune. Kameira Johnson and Olivia Forgach both went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s.

Sophomore Celina Castro went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI’s and Gisell Nieves went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for Lakewood.

Brick 16, Henry Hudson 6 (6 Innings)

Sicillia Booker struck out 11 batters and allowed three earned runs to lift Brick (5-1, 5-1) to a win over Henry Hudson (2-3, 2-2). Junior Emily Figa went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBI’s and Jordan Mulhearn had a triple and two RBI;s for the Dragons.

Freshman Molly Hensle walked and scored a run for Henry Hudson.
