Senior pitcher Emily Gaudio fanned 10 batters and allowed only two hits and a walk, as the Mustangs (20-7) won their third sectional title in four seasons.
Marlboro struck first in the first inning when Gaudio hit a line drive RBI single to left field to score junior SS Isabella Wuelfing who reached first base on an error and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt. The Mustangs added three insurance runs in the sixth inning. After Wuelfing was hit by a pitch, junior 2B Alyssa Abadiotakis bunted and reached first base on an error that also scored Wuelfing. Junior 1B Ashlee Chen reached first bas eon a bunt two at bats later. Later in the inning, junior C Reese Grinberg doubled on a fly ball to left field to score Abadiotakis and Chen.
Marlboro will travel to South Jersey Group 4 champion Kingsway in the state semifinals.

Central Jersey Group 3
(1) Steinert 1, (3) Middletown South 0
Senior pitcher Ellie Miller recorded six strikeouts and allowed only two hits and three walks, as the Spartans (23-4) edged the Eagles (18-8) for the sectional title.
Steinert scored the game’s lone run in the bottom of the third inning. Junior CF Danica Spak bunted and advanced all the way to third base on an error. With two outs, Spak scored on an error in the outfield on a line drive hit by senior SS Mia Pope.
The Eagles threatened in the 4th inning when junior SS Celia Collings singled on a ground ball and sophomore 1B Jordyn Cowell walked to put runners on first and second with one out, but they were unable to score. They had one more good opportunity in the final inning when freshman Annie Wilson and sophomore LF Quinnlynn Heaney each drew walks with no outs, but they were unable to capitalize.
Middletown South graduates one senior in Gianna Pancione. The Eagles are projected to return their entire starting lineup and will be projected to be one of the best teams in the Shore Conference next season.
South Jersey Group 2
(2) Barnegat 2, (1) Gloucester 1
Junior pitcher Gianna Gomez recorded seven strikeouts and allowed only five hits and one walk, as the Bengals (23-2) knocked off the two-time defending state champion Lions (21-3) to capture their first sectional title in program history. Barnegat scored both of their runs in the 3rd inning on an RBI single from senior catcher Jadeyn Bodziak and a sacrifice fly from sophomore Brooke Rizzo. Gloucester scored their only run on an RBI single from sophomore Jenai Murphy.
Barnegat will travel to Central Jersey Group 2 champion A.L. Johnson in the state semifinals.
