First Round
(8) Colts Neck 10, (25) Toms River North 0 (5 Innings)
The Bryce sisters had a big day for Colts Neck (10-8), each hitting a home run to advance into the second-round of the SCT. Senior Gabby Bryce went 3-for-4 with a home run, double and two RBI’s and Adrianna Bryce hit a 2-run home run in the 1st inning. Senior Angela Sasso struck out four batters in three innings pitched and went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBI’s.
Colts Neck will host nine-seed Southern on Thursday.
(9) Southern 10, (24) St. Rose 2
Senior Emily Zellman batted 2-for-4 with a 2-run home run to center field, as the Rams (11-7) advanced past the Purple Roses (8-13). Junior Christina Brooks recorded two RBI’s. Junior Madilyn Duralek was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Senior Nikki Valendo finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. Junior Samantha Jillson batted 2-for-3 with a double. Junior pitcher Brooke Sutter struck out six batters and allowed six hits and two walks in the win.
Southern will travel to nine-seed Colts Neck on Thursday.
(10) Raritan 18, (23) Toms River South 2 (4 Innings)
Raritan (16-6) scored 13 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to defeat TRS (11-11) advance into the second-round of the SCT. Sophomore Lila Houlihan went 3-for-4 with a double and five RBI’s to lead the Rockets. Junior Holly Bellofatto went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in three runs while Janelle Clausi had three hits and scored four runs for Raritan. Sophomore Katelyn Ruta struck out eight batters to earn the win.
Raritan will travel to seven-seed Barnegat on Thursday. Barnegat beat Raritan 4-0 a week ago.
(22) Howell 7, (11) Toms River East 6
Junior Hailey Ruditsky went 3-for-4 with two RBI’s and two runs to lead the Rebels (9-9) to an upset victory over the Raiders (13-6). Sophomore Ellie Beam was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and a run. Senior Alyssa Morales finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Freshman Gianna Lisi batted 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Howell will travel to six-seed Holmdel on Thursday.
(19) Matawan 12, (14) Freehold Township 10
The Huskies (12-7) exploded for eight runs in the top of the 7th inning to gain the lead and then held on to defeat the Patriots (8-7). Junior C Elyssa Jamandron went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, four RBI’s, and three runs. Senior pitcher Emma Kriegstein was 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI’s, and two runs.
Matawan will travel to third-seed Marlboro on Thursday.
(17) Freehold Boro 7, (16) Manalapan 6
Freshman pitcher Vanessa Karabin went 3-for-4 with two RBI’s and a run at the plate, in addition to battling for the win on the mound, as the Colonials (12-8) edged the Braves (10-11). Junior Paige Sheridan was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI’s, and a run. Sophomore Julia Mariconda went 1-for-3 with two RBI’s.
Freehold Boro will travel to top-seeded St. John Vianney on Thursday.
(15) Shore 8, (18) Jackson 7 (10 innings)
Senior Olivia DeFonce went 3-for-6 with a double and three RBI’s, as the Blue Devils (15-4) edged the Jaguars (8-9). Freshman Kayla Delia batted 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI’s, and a run.
Shore will travel to two-seed Donovan Catholic on Thursday.
(13) Middletown North 11, (20) Pinelands 1 (5 innings)
Sophomore pitcher Aubrey Borchers recorded eight strikeouts and allowed only three hits and a walk, as the Lions (8-12) routed the Wildcats (8-13) to advance to the next round. Senior Julie Frontera went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBI’s.
Middletown North will travel to play their rival, four-seed Middletown South, on Thursday for the third time this season.
(12) Central 8, (21) Ocean 5
Sophomore pitcher Hailey Craddock recorded four strikeouts and allowed five hits and a walk in five innings, while freshman pitcher Bailee Flora recorded four strikeouts and allowed only a walk in two innings, as the Golden Eagles (11-7) defeated the Spartans (10-7). Senior Makenzie Lowden recorded two RBI’s. Senior Madison Ryan went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Junior Grace Ostapovich hit a solo home run.
Central will travel to play five-seed Red Bank Catholic on Thursday.
Patriot
Henry Hudson 19, Keyport 7
Leading 7-6 after two innings, Henry Hudson (9-6, 8-4) scored two runs in the 3rd and exploded for six runs in the 4th to beat division rival Keyport (7-9, 6-6). Senior Marishka Evelich went 2-for-3 with four RBI’s and freshman Molly Hensle went 4-for-5 with a double and four RBI’s to lead Henry Hudson. Sophomore Lucia Fariello struck out nine batters and only allowed one earned run to earn the victory.
Non-Conference
Piscataway 17, Long Branch 2
No. 1 St. John Vianney 6, South Plainfield 0
Leading 1-0 after the first inning, SJV (21-0) scored three runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to defeat South Plainfield (13-9) in a non-conference game. Sophomore Olivia Lombardi hit a 3-run home run in the 3rd inning for the Lancers. Senior Madison McDougall struck out 18 batters to earn the victory.
SJV will host Freehold Boro on Thursday in the second-round of the SCT.
