Second Round
(4) Middletown South 2, (13) Middletown North 1 (10 Innings)
Tied 1-1 after four innings, it wasn’t until the 10th inning when the next run was scored when Nora Sarcone scored on a wild pitch to give Middletown South (13-6) the second-round win and advance to the SCT quarterfinals on Saturday. Sarcone was placed on 2nd base to start the 10th inning and was bunted over by Quinnlyn Heaney. After a strikeout and a walk, Sarcone broke for home on a wild pitch to win the game for the Eagles. Junior Riley Smith struck out 15 batters and did not allow an earned run for Middletown South. Smith also drove in Ciara Sparandero in the 4th inning to tie the game at one.
Sophomore Aubrey Borchers struck out 10 batters in five innings of relief for Middletown North. Sophomore Ellie Gottschalk went 2-for-4 and drove in the Lions run in the 1st inning.
Middletown South will host the winner of the Red Bank Catholic/Central game being played tomorrow.
Non-Division
Brick Memorial 6, Brick 4
Shore 9, Wall 5
Trailing 4-3 going into the top of the 5th inning, Shore (16-4) scored five runs to take a 8-4 lead and defeat Wall (4-13) in a non-divisional game. Senior Olivia DeFonce went 1-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored and Peyton Waterman hit her first home run of the season for the Blue Devils. Junior Ayden Kampf struck out four batters to earn the win.
Sophomore Kali Buss went 1-for-3 with two RBI’s and junior Addison Lawrence went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored.
Rumson-Fair Haven 16, Neptune 0 (4 Innings)
After scoring four runs in the first inning, Rumson (5-7) scored 10 in the 2nd inning to win the non-divisional game against Neptune. Junior Mia Missig struck out nine batters to earn the shutout victory for the Bulldogs. Freshman Keira McNeil went 3-for-3 with two triples and Missig scored three times for Rumson.
Point Boro 15, Lakewood 0 (4 Innings)
Point Boro (7-11) exploded for nine runs in the 1st inning and six in the 2nd inning to beat Lakewood (3-13) in a non-divisional game. Junior Jadyn Clayton went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI’s and Daniella Maiorana hit a double and drove in two runs for the Panthers. Freshman Mackenzie Ferwerda struck out 10 batters in the victory.
Lacey 11, Keyport 0
Freehold Boro 9, Manchester 1
Freehold Boro (13-8) wasted no time against Manchester (9-9) scoring runs in the first three innings to build a 7-0 lead. Freshman Vanessa Karabin went 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBI’s for the Colonials. Karaban also struck out four batters to earn the win. Junior Ashley Koppelman went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and freshman Kayla Llyod went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI.
Junior Kassandra O’Neill and sophomore Danica Rekus both went 2-for-3 for Manchester with Rekus hitting a double and O’Neill scored their lone run.
Central 12, Ocean 2
Central (12-7) hit three home runs to win a non-divisional game over Ocean (10-8). Senior Sianna Valverde went 4-for-4 with a home run, triple, three runs scored and three RBI’s to lead Centra. Junior Kayla Fedor drove in three runs with a home run and Kayla Rasmussen hit a solo home run. Sophomore Hailey Craddock struck out five batters in four innings to earn the win.
Junior Ryleigh Cerco hit her 13th home run of the season and Taylor Scotto hit her 4th home run for Ocean.
Red Bank at Manalapan, 4 p.m. PPD to 5/18

Keansburg at South Amboy, 4 p.m.
No. 2 Donovan Catholic 3, DePaul 0
Donovan (21-1) rebounded after being handed their first loss with a non-conference win over DePaul (15-5). Senior Jaelynn Nunez went 2-for-3 with a home run and Isabella Maria went 1-for-2 with three walks and a run scored for the Griffins. Junior Gylian Hixenbaugh struck out 11 batters to earn the win.
Pinelands 11, Holy Spirit 5
