Manasquan 28, Matawan 0

Senior running back Dax Klein rushed for two touchdowns, as the Warriors (2-1, 1-0) blanked the Huskies (1-2, 0-1).

Klein scored on touchdowns of 9 and 7 yards. Junior running back Wyatt Sowul added a 21-yard touchdown. Senior fullback Tommy Certo scored on a one-yard plunge.

Sowul and junior defensive back Connor Lalli each recorded an interception. Senior defensive linemen Ryder Boyle and Jon Jones both registered one and a half sacks. Junior linebacker Matt Reffler recorded a sack. Senior defensive lineman Lucas Kubu and senior linebacker Chris Matthaei recorded half a sack.

Class C South

Keyport 40, Lakewood 14

Senior running back Jermaine Zaieer-Finch ran for three touchdowns, junior Justin Way ran for another, and Chris Herrera caught a touchdown pass from senior Marshall Colangelo as the Red Raiders (1-1, 1-0) snapped a seven-game losing streak by beating the Piners (0-3, 0-1).

Friday, September 11

Class A North

No. 1 Red Bank Catholic 44, No. 11 St. John Vianney 7

Sophomore quarterback Rahmir Rivera threw three touchdown passes and sophomore running back Gabe Kemp rushed for two touchdowns, as the Caseys (2-1, 1-0) routed the Lancers (1-2, 0-1).

Rivera found senior wideout Ethan Kennedy, junior wideout Jason Berecsky, and sophomore wideout Austin Medley for touchdowns. Kemp scored on touchdown runs of 5 and 10 yards. Senior running back Jake Bickerton also added a touchdown run.

Class A South

No. 2 Donovan Catholic 14, No. 5 Brick Memorial 7

The Griffins (3-0, 1-0) held off a valiant effort from the Mustangs (2-1, 0-1) behind a strong defensive effort.

An interception from senior defensive end Jason Madden setup a 2-yard touchdown run from senior running back Alex Staten to give Donovan Catholic a 7-0 lead. Brick Memorial responded in the third quarter on an 11-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Tyler Pierce to senior running back Colin Schoellkopf to tie the game. Senior quarterback Kahden Davis barreled into the end zone for a 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give the Griffins the final margin.

Sophomore Torrence Turner recorded two sacks in the win, while senior linebacker Sean Byrnes and senior defensive back Nyron Snerling each recorded an interception.

In the loss, senior linebacker Jack Marotta, junior defensive back Jay’von Ellison, and freshman defensive back Zyion Weaver each recorded an interception.

No. 3 Toms River North 14, No. 10 Point Boro 7

Senior quarterback Cole Garrison scored on a touchdown runs of 1 and 2 yards, as the Mariners (3-0, 1-0) topped the Panthers (2-1, 0-1).

For Point Boro, senior quarterback Jake Clayton scored on a 22-yard touchdown run to cut the deficit to one score in the final quarter.

Class B South

Pinelands 34, Brick 0

Junior running back RJ Clark rushed for two touchdowns, as the Wildcats (3-0, 1-0) blanked the Dragons (1-2, 0-1).

Senior quarterback JJ Jenkins rushed for a 10-yard touchdown and found senior wideout Anthony Bonds on a 75-yard touchdown pass.

Junior running back Montrell Carter ran for a 9-yard touchdown and racked up 14 tackles, three sacks, and a blocked punt on defense.

Lacey 10, Toms River East 0

Senior quarterback Joe Geiger found senior wideout Strummer Caputo on a 50-yard pass to set up a 6-yard touchdown run from sophomore running back Taven Santonastasso, as the Lions (2-1, 1-0) blanked the Raiders (1-2, 0-1).

Junior kicker Mason Przemielewski converted on a field goal early in the third quarter to put the Lions up two scores. Senior linebacker Jake Sturman recorded four TFL’s and junior defensive lineman Logan Gumbaz tallied three TFL’s.

Toms River South 23, Central 13

Senior running back Kavon Metellus ran for two touchdowns, as the Indians (2-1, 1-0) topped the Golden Eagles (0-3, 0-1).

Metellus scored on touchdown runs of 12 and 8 yards. Junior quarterback Xavier Santiago found senior tight end Dyson Bouchelle on a 29-yard touchdown pass.

Junior defensive backs Zahir Armour and Hamza Hollingshead, as well as senior defensive back Grayson Thumm, each recorded an interception.

Class C South

Point Beach 28, New Egypt 14

Junior running back Gage Boyle rushed for two touchdowns and racked up double-digit tackles on defense, as the Garnet Gulls (2-1, 1-0) defeated the Warriors (1-2, 0-1).

Boyle scored on a 30-yard touchdown and a 5-yard touchdown.

Junior running back Thomas Aiosa added a 5-yard touchdown run. Senior wideout Danny Cavanaugh hauled in an 18-yard touchdown reception from junior quarterback Billy Cavanaugh, in addition to coming away with an interception on defense.

In the loss, junior quarterback Thomas Marabuto rushed for a 15-yard touchdown and found junior wideout Charlie Girard on a touchdown pass.

Class D North

Barnegat 48, Asbury Park 0

Senior quarterback Nick Malinowski threw two touchdown passes and senior running back Chris Santero added two rushing touchdowns, as the Bengals (3-0, 1-0) blanked the Blue Bishops (0-3, 0-1).

Junior running back Ryan Fitzpatrick, senior tight end Josh Kawka, and freshman quarterback Zach McCrohan each scored a rushing touchdown. Junior wideout Justin Fitzpatrick and senior wideout Blake Pezzuti both hauled in a receiving touchdown.

Monmouth 44, Manchester 6

Junior running back Brandon Thompson rushed for two touchdowns, as the Falcons (3-0, 1-0) routed the Hawks (1-2, 0-1).

Junior quarterback Ryan Corwin threw touchdown passes to junior tight end Donovan Hicks and junior wideout Liam Faulkner.

Junior quarterback Lucas Rac and freshman running back Conall Hicks also each added a rushing touchdown.

Thursday, September 10

Class A North

No. 4 Rumson-Fair Haven 40, No. 6 Holmdel 28

Junior quarterback Brady Williams ran for three touchdowns and threw two more, as the Bulldogs (3-0, 1-0) won a critical early-season divisional game over the Hornets (2-1, 0-1).

Williams scored on touchdown runs of 10, 3, and 1 yard, running for 68 yards on 15 carries. He also found senior wideout Jason Tucker for a 12-yard touchdown and senior wideout Cole Spoonire for a 10-yard touchdown, as part of a 230-yard night through the air on 17-for-28 passing. Senior running back Ryder Izzo added a 29-yard touchdown to seal the game, adding 153 yards on the ground on 24 carries.

Senior athlete Michael Todisco scored on touchdown runs of 18 and 7 yards in the loss, totaling 99 yards rushing. Sophomore quarterback Tommy Fletcher found junior wideout Anthony Serini on touchdown passes of 16 and 9 yards, as part of a stellar 179 receiving yards on 12 catches for Serini.

No. 12 Wall 15, No. 7 Manalapan 12

Junior running back Michael Boulard rushed for two touchdowns, including the game-winner with under 30 seconds in the game, as the Crimson Knights (2-1, 1-0) rallied past the Braves (2-1, 0-1).

Boulard’s first touchdown came on a 9-yard run after a blocked punt from senior defensive back Jack Duffy. The game winner came from 2 yards out.

Manalapan opened the game with a 75-yard kickoff return touchdown from junior defensive back PJ Pape. The Braves added a safety after a fumbled snap later in the first quarter to make it 9-0. They also converted on a 25-yard field goal from senior kicker Brandon Kaplan.

Class A South

No. 9 Southern 42, Jackson 14

Senior quarterback Carson Abbato tossed four touchdown passes, as the Rams (2-0, 1-0) defeated the Jaguars (2-1, 0-1). Junior wideout Cole Celeste scored on touchdown receptions of 70 and 50 yards, while senior wideout Chris Raub hauled in touchdown receptions of 40 yards and 20 yards. Junior running back Niko Iliescu added a 25-yard touchdown run, while Raub added a 10-yard touchdown run.

Class B North

Middletown South 42, Freehold Township 14

Senior running back Justin Rosato rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Eagles (1-2, 1-0) past the Patriots (1-2, 0-1). Senior quarterback Jack Schneider threw touchdown passes to senior wideouts Owen Maguire and Mike Mullane. Maguire also returned a kickoff return for a touchdown.

No. 8 Middletown North 34, Shore 20

Senior wideout Danny Sigler caught three touchdown passes from junior quarterback Derek Grasso, in addition to running for a 25-yard touchdown and recording an interception, as the Lions (2-0, 1-0) beat the Blue Devils (1-2, 0-1). Senior running back Matt Belenko added a rushing touchdown.

The victory was also the 67th at Middletown North for head coach Steve Bush, which passes the 66 by legendary former coach Vic Kubu and puts him only behind Hall of Famer Arnie Truex, whose teams won 121 games at Middletown from 1939-1959, according to team historian Ray Veth.

Sigler’s three touchdown catches also tied a single-game school record, according to Veth.

Class C North

Raritan 27, Howell 12

Senior quarterback Parker Needham threw and ran for a score as the Rockets (2-1, 1-0) outlasted the Rebels (1-1, 0-1).

Seniors Eric Berg and Preston Tagliaferro each ran for a score, while junior wideout Lou Zweidinger caught a touchdown from Needham.

Marlboro 24, Neptune 13

Senior quarterback Nick Dimino rushed for a touchdown and found senior wideout Ardy Mehmedaj on a touchdown pass to lead the Mustangs (2-1, 1-0) past the Scarlet Fliers (1-2, 0-1). Senior running back Hudson Muhlbach scored on a 45-yard touchdown run. Senior kicker Zach Mojares booted a 45-yard field goal.

Ocean 34, Red Bank 0

The Spartans (2-1, 1-0) got two rushing touchdowns from sophomore running back Brayln Thompson, along with one passing and one rushing for senior quarterback Jake Garrett, as they blanked the Bucs (1-2, 0-2).

Garrett ran for a 33-yard score and threw a 38-yard strike to senior wideout Justin Farina, while Thompson scored from one and five yards out.

Junior kicker and punter Aidan Zacharczyk had a standout day on special teams, hitting all four extra-point attempts, two field goals from 46 and 36 yards, while downing a punt inside the five-yard line.

Class C South

Keansburg 30, Freehold Boro 12

Junior quarterback Mason Rand found senior wideout Mikey Clayton on two touchdown passes, as the Titans (1-2, 1-0) defeated the Colonials (0-3, 0-1). Rand hit Clayton on scores of 32 and 20 yards.

Junior running back Taurian Black scored on a 6-yard touchdown run, in addition to two 2-point conversions. Sophomore Camren Clagon returned a kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown. Rand also found junior Jaylin Glassco on a 2-point conversion.

For the Colonials, sophomore quarterback Adrian KrKuti scored on a 4-yard touchdown run and found junior tight end Hoffman Ryan on a 61-yard touchdown pass.

Class D North

Colts Neck 32, Long Branch 0

The Cougars (1-2, 1-0) got three rushing touchdowns from junior running back Mike Arminante and two from sophomore running back Trevor Baum, as the Cougars (1-2, 1-0) blanked the Green Wave (1-2, 0-1). Baum added 120 yards on the ground in addition to finding the end zone twice.
